LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion

Yet another City Magazine gift appeared on Brickset, that makes 4 on Brickset that haven't come out yet (In my country), + a 5th being a Diver+Shark. First time they include a named LCA Character, including his belt and printed legs. I do like the way they build that Tamper (the device to flatten sand) -
Ok , to move the discussion here instead of City 2020. I'd really like to see a Hideout set again, LEGO made multiple of them from 2012-2018, but a large set focused on a Hideout structure could be nice, since there were none in 2019. Instead of posting many pictures, I just list the sets here , from 2012-2018 there were 9 different structures, but each set had 2-3 vehicles included as well. https://brickset.com/sets/tag-Criminal-Hideout/theme-City Maybe I'll MOC one later in the year, I can certainly see potential in using parts from the new Summer 2020 Ninjago sets, 3-in-1 Pirate ship etc, to get the brown/grey/black parts look, and then add some plants and boarded up windows

Those pics I listed were part of sets, I just listed the pictures without extra vehicles. But a larger Hideout set could work, also doesn't seem to hard to MOC as the color schemes seem pretty universal, mostly grey and brown as main colors, and then some combination of wood or rocks. Maybe I should post this in the City sets ideas thread instead. If anything, those little structures give me some MOC ideas. -

I'd rather see a crooks base instead of another Police Station, they haven't made one since 2018 and that was a small one. With all those named criminals you'd expect them to have some hideout in the LCA. Sets like this , but focused on the building : Helicopter Arrest : 2013 Crooks Hideout : 2015 Crooks Island : 2016 -

There were 2 4+ sets with vaults before in 2018 and 2020 , so it surprises there's no vault build in that City set unless there's another set. I think 2021 as well, those SWAT type Police with goggles , seem distinct enough to be their own sub-theme. Sky Police wasn't a huge wave of sets either. -

At least it would make sense if there was something to use the drill on, as City isn't a combat theme there's no monsters to fight like Ninjago/Nexo Knights had Driller vehicles before. Of course there has been the 2018 mining theme but that retired, and each set had it's own breakable terrain. The 2020 City Bank building already comes with a monster truck to destroy the wall with the Magnet feature. Maybe they'd think kids can break the 2020 Police Station Prison, as it has the action feature. I do think that darkblue car looks nice but if there's no other set to use a Driller vehicle on it's just another chase, with a bit of a weird vehicle choice. I assume the Drill spins around when the wheels move, so at least it looks nice in action. I liked that spinning drill feature on this , which uses a smaller drill piece, I think it made sense for that theme as it was fighting Stone monsters. -

I see the Dragon Boat Race just retired yesterday, that was the first set of the new policy. -

Since they are listed under the filter , "Exclusive Items", I doubt they'll hit regular retail soon. But I have seen sets appear on other websites after a while (many above LEGO's set price however). -
I'd think a full Gondola System would need thousands of pieces, to cover a certain distance and be structurally strong enough. But Friends had a Ski Lift in 2017 , so something to carry just 1-2 figures could work as a set, but of course the slope/distance is very short.

I actually like that helicopter / lighthouse design. If it's cheap enough, the Lighthouse could fit right next to the 2019 Fire Station + Dockside set in terms of scale. -
I agree that could certainly work. I don't collect Licensed themes either, so DC or Star Wars aren't my interest for LEGO.
-
Loved the final Episode, and looking forward for the next year.

Seems they take the minidoll scale route instead, because City seems to go all micro-scale , with some City-Adventures minifigs. I think some variation per year is nice and keeps calendars interesting.

City Advent Calendar seems to have a Duke Detain in a different normal blue torso instead of dark/earth blue. ------ City Magazines here are a bit behind , the mini Bulldozer comes out June 11 here, and then there's the Race Car after that. And after that it seems to be a Diver (standard green/black torso, white helm/airtank , black fins and a different head compared to the 2019 version) + Normal Shark, didn't expect a fairly large animal like a Shark via a magazine. -
Ninjago villains and future

Maybe Ninjago on the Moon , since there's a Dr. Ogel in the 2019 City "Lunar" Space Station already . Might not be the same Ogel as Alpha Team but a Ninjago Moon Base could be great. -
Since this has those bars at both the doors I think it's based on SBB Ce 6/8 II. SBB Ce 6/8 III looks very similar, but has no double bars at the doors, and also has extra round-top shaped bars near the buffers.

Are Ultra Agents and Ninjago connected somehow?
TeriXeri replied to gamejutzu's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
City 2019 Space also had a Dr. Ogel in the Lunar Base set on a sticker and the same appearance as the included minifigure : -
Hero Quest is my favorite of those 5, but as someone mentioned earlier, it's licensed via Games Workshop (same company that made Warhammer).
-
It will also be almost 30 years since this was released in 1991 :

I don't see a €20 value here, compared to the €20 DOTS sets that are coming out in June 1st which have big plates , tiles and bricks as well, and more parts. But then again, 5 layers of plates/tiles can look very compact, and those are Licensed characters. But they look good. If they can make some generic LEGO characters, for example RedBeard, King Leo, Benny, Johnny Thunder that'd be cool.

And if there'd be 1 TV show I'd actually would love an official LEGO set for, would be the Family Guy house.
