  1. Certainly 3 very nice aircraft in that one set, I didn't collect City until like 2019 however. 2018 had a €10 Airshow Jet but it looks a bit comically proportioned as it's smaller. I did love the 2019 Sky Police Jet and I have that one, on discount, but I see the retail price on it is pretty bad, $40 in US for that is way too much, I got it for like €19.
  2. I wish Monkie Kid had like a €10 Starter Set , with 2-3 bull figures. If Benny's Space Squad can provide it, so can Monkie Kid imo. We have seen them use motorcycles and even bicycles so a small vehicle and some weapons isn't too much to ask. Such small builds already exist in larger sets, I don't think they are crappy, but quite nice enough to work as a small set. I don't think the €10 Nexo Knight were bad either, not all sets need to include the named characters.
  3. Great update, watched a view videos where the real ce 6/8 II certainly has no visible gaps when straight so this looks more realistic. Another difference ,are those round parts under the arches on the sides, they are black in the real thing, at least in the current one I saw in videos (14253), but I can understand that those arches being black also would look way too blocky so they kept the entire sides brown.
  4. My favorite price point is the €10-30 range, but contents can really vary a lot per theme or region. Also there have been weird cases where €20 sets were $30 in the US (City) and $20 sets were €30 in Europe (Harry Potter/Star Wars). Still happens on some sets in 2020.
  5. I meant the actual prints/stickers in the sets cross-referencing HLC and LCI are an Easter Egg, just like they have put Bionicle stickers in Hidden Side sets etc. But I can understand your point about having multiple airplanes releasing at the same year or even shelf-life cycle. 2019 Sky Police is still on the shelves, 2019 also had a Fire Plane, 2020 winter had a small City mail plane, so yes, putting a mid-sized airplane in Friends instead makes sense. Hidden Side had a Biplane for 2020 also. Sky Police is still in the newest catalogs so certainly still advertised. Usually I keep Licensed themes out of the equation, but since we talk about Minifigs and Minidolls, and Minions anyway, Spider-man Stark Jet set from 2019 was also a passenger jet that's still being sold. A similar discussion was recently on Brickset regarding Space sets, while there have not been an official "Space" theme in years now, people tend to forget that multiple LEGO Movie 2 Spaceships were made, not just Benny sets, but on the other hand, most TLM2 sets were retired very quickly.
  6. I agree there, I just see the relation between the sets to be an easter egg, not some official in-universe Canon. The City 4+ set has a ticket with LCI-HLC on it. HLC (Heartlake City) is listed on the Friends and City Airport schedule, but so is LCI (Lego City International?) , and BLL (Billund Airport, Denmark). Also BRK (Bricksburg from LEGO Movie?) Especially Minions is completely unrelated from the releases.
  7. I agree that Airport wave is certainly lacking, I wish the air race set was actual 2 propellor racing planes instead.
  8. Number of sets is still very comparable compared to the 2014 and 2017 main Police waves, which had 9 cardboard boxed sets each. If we include the 3 new sets, 2020 will have 8 cardboard boxed 5+ sets, 1 more 4+ set, and the Police Brick Box, so that makes 9 boxed sets + plastic Tub. I know 2014 and 2017 had €6 cardboard boxes which aren't made anymore, but 2020 has a 4-minifig blister pack instead. As for Police Polybags, 2014 had 2 , 2017 had 3, 2020 so far has 2.
  9. Same here, while I just had Enchanted Island in terms of Islanders, Sharks and Crocodile would be more hostile towards the Pirates compared to the people. :) I never had many sets, the Bluecoats would have 2x Sabre island , but still that gave them cannons to defend, while the Pirates just had some small boats in my collection.
  10. Of course there are many items under €10 there, but even something like a polybag ends up at €9,94 here if ordered , as they ask €5,95 shipping unless above €55, but still viable as add-on item of course. Update : It looks like LEGO.com finally added 6 Polybags for direct sale to their shop as recently as June 9. So far the themes are : Creator Friends Harry Potter Frozen 2 LEGO Movie 2 I do think it's a good move, and hope they'll add more, as LEGO already was selling Xtra or DOTS polybags but none from themes until now.
  11. Agreed, exact same case, polybags are hard to find, and I haven't seen a store beside the LEGO store that sells CMF. The impulse sets nowadays here seem to be the Magazines and those go for €5-6 The €10 City sets are still there , but no longer are Starter Packs, also the €6 price point boxed sets are no more. Many physical Toy selling stores have closed here (from about 1000 in 2009, to 500 in 2020), and webshops have shipping cost here unless you order something like €20-100 minimum (LEGO has free shipping above €55 here), so a Polybag would be more like an add-on item of a bigger order.
  12. I was thinking that at first , but then watching the Piano, being actually playable, and having 2800 pieces (in the original) + electronics, $350 is very likely. Downscaling Sesame Street is a lot easier as it's not strictly tied to a mechanical construction like the piano, also no Electronics.
  13. Crocodile train shows the more unique development of railway material imo, since such trains were designed for specific parts of tracks, usually meant for steep inclines and sharp turns, certainly not a mainstream train but it's part of history of the transition to modern Electric trains. Even so, Electromotors were just very big at that point, some of the first American electric trains resembled crocodiles as well except it was called Steeplecab design. The first main line that was electrified https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baltimore_Belt_Line used this in 1895: Baltimore & Ohio electric engine: This is more from the same era as the ce 6/8 : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milwaukee_Road_class_ES-2 (1916)
  14. Islanders are likely more related a mix of Polynesia/Hawaii/Easter Island (Austronesia) references The statues could be viewed as Moai. The Outrigger Boats / canoes. And the Grass skirts they wear. I don't see them as cannibals , but certainly would be hostile toward the Imperialists that might try and change their culture, and exploit their treasures/resources. Even while there was never an Imperials vs Islanders in the same set I can understand the use of Pirates instead of portraying some western nation invading on their doorstep. Of course Pirates steal and use weapons as well, but a Bluecoat/Redcoat/Armada type of set where they'd put Islanders in cages etc would just give off an entirely different message, especially nowadays. Pirates were actually put into prison instead, and some sets seem to promote trading/exploring rather then using overwhelming force, as there's not a single Cannon in an Islanders set.
  15. Gotta say I actually like that little boat chase set, still much better compared to that Drill chase. It looks okay, almost Town-scale, even if the boats themselves have very little to build, it could go well with the Lighthouse set. Yet another Duke Detain (even if different) gets a bit repetitive, but he has a very different outfit and you can't even see the face , hopefully less of the same characters in 2021 (I assume those are like September sets) 2021 is possibly Coast Guard again, so those water-themed sets (floating helicopter / small boats / lighthouse ) make some sense going into the next year.
  16. I see one webshop here (Brickshop) selling the sets, but at prices €10-€20 higher compared to LEGO.com , so I don't think this will appear widely. No discounts is the biggest factor for me, for skipping this theme when there are other somewhat comparable themes out right now. I don't consider this theme must-have enough to pay full price. And I was already planning for this Season 13 Ninjago wave which also has a Mech I like.
  17. Well, there are like 7 Spiders across 4 sets, so they certainly make some appearance . Personally more bad guy figures would've been nicer compared to Spiders, the lack of a monster army builder set is the only flaw of the sets imo.
  18. Yes, exactly, even mix and match is a bit harder to do with minidolls as they use 3 skin tones, and even Friends theme promotes swapping parts with their cloth shops basicly being torsos. Now, of course there are many minifigs that aren't yellow in many non-licensed fantasy/scifi/supernatural themes now and in the past, but most of season 1 and 2 sets of Hidden Side have the option to have normal figures. But such figures have been part of LEGO for a long time, with minifig skeletons, robots and aliens existing in the 90s, and the first Classic Space robots and Ghost Suit are even older then that. I see Licensed as a whole different subject, I see how it works fine for those themes, based on external characters, not designed by LEGO, they gotta follow some actor/source material, and I think it also makes more sense that way for authenticity. Licensed themes used to have yellow figures of course, as discussed before, but I think changing all licensed themes to a certain standard was a good thing. I don't see the need to change things to either all yellow, or all fleshie, as I'd assume there's plenty of opposition toward both moves. Also it seems to highly depend on when someone got into LEGO, as myself, being away from LEGO from 2001-2016, Fleshie figures still feel somewhat new and different to me, as Star Wars started as yellow when I had a 1999 set, but I can see the younger generation or people who just recently got into LEGO to see skin colors as normal, and yellow as weird, but that's 100% okay. Friends or Elves, used skin tones since they appeared, so there never were 2 sides of the coin for minidolls. I also have 0 fleshie figures in my collection, nothing to do with race, but with interest of the themes/sets more then anything.
  19. Same here with buying full sets, I ended up not buying the Donut Shop,as the Creator Townhouse Cafe/Petshop was just way more appealing to me as it's main goal of getting a building, and now the 2020 3-in-1 Toyshop is also so much nicer. (I don't collect Modulars so the 3-in-1 scale is my main goal) I love the buildings in the Monkie Kid sets but I certainly won't get the sets just for those. That said, I did get the Hidden Side Shrimp Shack recently, on a big discount, even while I wasn't planning to collect Hidden Side, it's still a nice building with a non-possesed option. I tend to wait with buying sets, for non-exclusive sets, I'd rather wait and get sets 20-40% off compared to day 1. Even for exclusives on LEGO.com, VIP points aren't enough incentive, so a Gift With Purchase is usually a deciding factor.
  20. Finally built the Portal Tree set (70427: Welcome to the Hidden Side ), I think it's a unique set , and getting 3 physical ghosts is nice in a small set like that, and some nice parts in black & medium azure. And the blue version of Jack is unique enough as well.
  21. I believe it was €7 for 3 here at the beginning of 2020, which is cheaper then 3 blind bags for sure (€12)
  22. A similar figure is in the new Haunted House, and the designer is Toothdominoes
  23. I don't know how long the LEGO City Adventures show is going to last, but repeating the same characters doesn't really make me want City sets more, Duke Detain is the same exact figure in 5 sets. I know parts can be swapped, so having duplicate figures isn't a disaster, but still in a theme like City I'd rather see as many different people as possible, as City used to be a pretty timeless theme. At least some slight variation in headprint, a different hairpiece or hat would help as well in the case of Duke Detain. (I believe he's getting a new Torso/Legs in the Advent Calendar tho) LEGO movie 2 sets had repeat characters but there were subtle differences in head prints, outfits and accesoires. Maybe kids who watch Nickelodeon a lot like the show/sets, but afaik Nickelodeon isn't even super popular here, and the episodes aren't on Youtube unlike other LEGO shows. Of course it's not all repeats, LCA does bring unique minifigs to City sets as well, like Snake Rattler, Daisy Kaboom, Poppy Starr, Jessica Sharpe etc. but LEGO has shown they can do unique minfigs regardless of TV shows.
  24. I hope so. The 2020 City Advent Calendar isn't focusing on random city people, instead focuses on a few named characters from LEGO City Adventures and mostly microbuilds, so a Winter people pack would certainly work this year alongside it. The 2019 September set was the Ski Resort , so a winter set later in the year beside an Advent Calendar happened before.
  25. I definately got the same reference the moment I saw the set's pictures. 31052 was probably my first large 3-in-1 set since coming back to LEGO, and still is one of my favorites, also came at a much better price ratio compared to the 2020 Caravan which is simply very overpriced here. The 2016 set was listed at €65 here, while the 2020 Caravan is €90 and has less pieces, also the 2020 Pirate Ship has 66% more pieces then the caravan and only costs €10 more. The Space Rover looks good however and is on-point value wise.
