  1. I was thinking the same thing. The first time I noticed it was, I believe, in 42082; since then, it seems to have become rather recurrent, at least in larger sets. Very lazy building technique.
  2. People called Romanes they go the house. Functions (or lack thereof) aside, the set looks like a great parts pack if bought at a very Black Fridayish 30% off.
  3. Torque tube aside, have you got the parts for this? https://bricksafe.com/pages/hateofallhatreds/ideas/axles/floating-axle---no-ackermann It can be adapted for portal axles and Ackermann steering and it's beautifully bouncy. I used an older version on my off-road tow truck.
  4. Two studs with Unimog tyres, three with Claas tyres. You could gain another stud by using small turntables instead of large ones. Obviously, since the suspension is pendular the clearance is constant.
  5. [OT] @Flybum, whereabouts in Italy are you? [end OT] I guess the only "suspension" on this model is maybe a large turntable between the back and the front.
  6. This is an ultraheavy-duty pendular axle I designed a couple of years ago. The springs are mounted on a pivot, so you get around four studs of suspension travel on either side.
  7. I don't know if this'll solve anything but in step 134 I'd use a towball instead of the axle-pin connector + bush. I remember I used the latter in a gearbox of mine a few months ago and it jammed up every now and then; switching to the towball made it foolproof.
  8. Not sure it's covered here but it's worth having a look: https://www.sheepo.es/2015/05/tips-and-curiosities-power-functions.html
  9. I'm perplexed by step 134 - wouldn't a towball work better than the axle&pin connector + bush?
  10. Beautiful model! The old-school tyres suit it perfectly. I'm also amazed at how new they look.
  11. I rebuilt the whole thing a few months ago, replacing the PF motors with Control+ motors (needed the former for another project). One good thing about the Control+ hub is that it seems to offer better power management than traditional PF battery boxes.
  12. The shifter rotates 90° at a time, so the orange wave selector engages two of the four driving rings around it, enabling two functions at a time. There's an absolute rubbish video here (I recommend muting and playing at 2x ).
  13. This is brilliant! I know bugger-all about Mindstorms and programming in general so I was wondering - would your idea also work for an eight-way distribution gearbox? Something like this: More pics here: https://bricksafe.com/pages/hateofallhatreds/mocs/12.-cherry-picker/wip
  14. Easily one of the best Technic tractors I've ever seen
  15. I thought it was pretty cool - reminded me of when I was a kid and had the time of my life piecing together all the mechanisms I could.
  16. Hi, this is a Lego forum, not a die-cast mod... oh, wait... This is just mind-blowing The level of detail is astounding and the functions are superb. I especially love the quick coupling mechanism. Hats off to you, very talented sir.
  17. If you could somehow implement these at the pivot points, it would take most of the load off the drive axles. Also, those z8 gears seem to be having a pretty miserable time. I reckon most of the torque you gain from the 5:3 reduction is lost in friction, so you might as well drive the knob gears directly. One last thing which could be tricky, though, is to replace the knob gears with stacked half-bevel z20s and z12s.
  18. The tank looks rad Have you got any pics of the underside? Some pics without the tracks would also help.
