Funny, didn't expect costume minifigs as animals.
-
Found the deep sea diving helmet from series 8 and the highland warrior torso from series 6 at my local Lego store (Vienna). Still no silver falcon knights or shields in sight and except for a few grey cats no interesting animals...

I really didn't expect the D2C set to be so expensive, I was so sure it'll be a minifig scaled Bag End. That's obviously out of the question now, unless they give us the complete Bilbo farewell party as an add-on... Now I'm speculating we'll get a microscale Orthanc with the surrounding wall together with some microscale ents perhaps and 3-4 important figures. I somehow can't imagine Minas Tirith or Helms Deep at this stage: 1. Lego has now already 2 different castles sitting on shelves. 2. the 76210 new Hulkbuster will cost 550€ for a bit over 4000 pieces. So this sounds pretty close to what we probably can expect. Minas Tirith/Helms Deep surely would be closer to the Titanic in terms of piece count.

Lovely!

Oh man, 500€ at least... Another castle set I'll probably have to pass. Just hope we'll get some information on a regular wave soon to keep the good spirit up.
-
The LOTR movies aged quite well honestly, but I'm sentimental. Anyhow look how much Lego invests into the Avatar theme (expensive license, new moulds, two waves at least) which clearly can't be aimed for kids just because there'll be a new movie soon. The new classic Lions castle is also much too expensive for any kid or teen. To buy the license just for some stupid 15$/20$ brickheadz would be ridiculous. Fantasy and castle fans are practically willing to spend any amount of money on a decent theme. I'm pretty certain Lego will make some 2-3 sets based on the movies first and with the second season of TROP we'll get some of the new stuff.

Hopefully Lego will make at least 3 different battle packs with plenty orcs, humans and dwarfs this time.
-
Fantastic news, and I'm pretty sure more sets will follow later! Agree; Lego will play it safe again so it will be probably Bag End. I wouldn't be surprised if it's in the style of a Star Wars diorama with quote plates and minifigs from both books at once. Just hope the price will stay reasonable.

Very nice scenery!

Actually New Line Cinema/Warner Brothers (LOTR movies) and MGM (Hobbit movies) are co-producers of the Amazon series. All slight changes and new characters have to be accepted by all parties involved. Apparently the Embracer Group has secured the merchandising rights recently. So I keep my fingers crossed that Lego will reach out to them; the first episodes of the series are really entertaining (and far better than House of Dragons for example!) https://www.denofgeek.com/tv/lord-of-the-rings-the-rings-complicated-world-of-tolkien-posthumous-work/ https://movieweb.com/the-lord-of-the-rings-rights-purchased-new-owners-already-considering-spinoffs/

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
brimbolet replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I'm so glad I used all my VIP points to get the BS together with the forest hideout GWP at a reasonable price. With the apparently new price range of 200€ and well beyond (rumored AS 300€) for a modular this is simply too much what I'm prepared to pay for a toy. Unless Lego makes something really spectacular... -

VIKING VILLAGE Ideas set via Target vote
brimbolet replied to jtooker's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Even though I'd love to see some of you ideas come true, it's absolutely unrealistic. If regular castle can't get a subtheme a real historical line is absolutely beyond reach. The Viking set is only possible imo, because it touches the American Anglo-Saxon roots/traditions in some way (the main selling market), probably a Roman/Greek set wouldn't have even reached the voting phase. -

10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
brimbolet replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Very cool; much better than the original ramp. Now the blue wagon can drive easily through the gate, for instance. Personally I'd try to make the ramp even a bit longer/less steep somehow. Perhaps the drawbridge can a bit more lowered? If you have the time and means you could even try and build a complete barbican...- 2,976 replies

LEGO Star Wars 2023 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

75351 or 75354 could still be Andor sets, since Promobricks didn't provide any descriptions on them. -
LEGO Star Wars 2023 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
brimbolet replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The rumored list sounds quite good; enough sets for AFOLS (that I absolutely have no interest in) and kids alike. I just wonder how the TIE bomber will look next to the current TIE fighter/X-wing or shuttle scale wise. Hope it's not too simplified. -

Another confirmation that historical themes are still very popular among fans. I really hope Lego decides to make some regular theme (even licensed) in the next 2 years! -
10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
brimbolet replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Well somehow Lego manages to make even new prints for BAM figures, so it must be profitable. It's just not consumer friendly if Lego stores don't get interesting parts (e.g. silver falcons) for many months - I drive every 2 weeks regularly to a nearby store, unfortunately always without any luck - and you can't buy them through the online shop too. If you care to compare it with Playmobil’s (cough) online shop, they sell not only figure packs of nearly every theme they ever produced, but sometimes even complete vintage sets that wouldn’t be popular enough at a regular retailer. That's a nice way to treat customers, I think. So a few polybags for very popular historical figures (Lego must make some sort of analysis) that would land at some point in the BAM tower anyway, shouldn’t really be a logistical problem.- 2,976 replies

Never did I understand why Lego isn't selling small polybags with just 3 figures/9€ through the online shop. Romans, knights, Indians... soo much more money they could make.- 2,976 replies
