Oh, a true Lego veteran and designer of the fantastic LOTR Uruk-Hai army set! -
Lego Icons 10332 Medieval Town Square Discussion Thread

It's so ridiculous; after many years of big profits (especially during the pandemic) Lego isn't willing to put a bunch of animals into the set but they increase the piece count with tons of 1x1 pieces. No wonder the designer is heartbroken. Cows from other manufacturers cost 3$. -

Major disappointment for me personally. I have to see the set in person first but it’s not quite the same level like the modulars though the price is just as high. Really shocking how downscaled the buildings on the left are now compared to last years leak. Did Lego want initially 300$€ in the survey or what? In such a case the market would have been an extremely bad deal next to LKC! The unprinted shields in the workshop are a shame, the web frame in the smaller hut is a great detail. The lack of any farm animals however is the biggest blow. Without them all playability/value is lost. The villagers have just one meager goat to survive a harsh winter but still have to pay taxes! A peasant uprising is inevitable… -
Disney Properties 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
brimbolet replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
This is a really great set, the only person from the movie missing is the hunter who spares Snow White's life. Shame it is so expensive! I know it has many pieces but a much smaller cottage for 100-150$€ would have been just a good. It even looks a bit too high compared with the source material, but that can be modified. -

I'm sure the new astrobaby will appear in another set. I'd like to have one too. -

I expect the value to be up to 35$/€ max; so I certainly wouldn't pay more than 40 including shipping. I don't need a sealed set and I can be very patient. I hope we'll see more of these! -

Looks very nice, but considering the really small size of it (and the used pieces are even smaller) I'm willing to spend 100$ for it, certainly not more. Hope the new spaceship will be revealed soon. -

Apart from the sales revenue I was more thinking that an agreement could specify the total amount of sets for production. To be profitable more NASA sets had to be planned from the start because of the additional license, that's why they were sold over a longer period. This is of course pure guess on my part, but a popular pirate set would be sold out faster? Shame Lego isn't willing to give us a small hint.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
brimbolet replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I'd love to see some day characters from various Hanna-Barbera shows. -
Not perhaps 100% on topic, but has anybody some info about any LOTR or ROP merchandise from other companies shown at the London Toy Fair?
-
Don't forget PoBB was not a regular but an ideas set, so Lego couldn't just simply extend the production without changing legal agreements for instance. But even if it had a shorter than expected life span, it was the first nostalgic big hit if I'm not mistaken, without the bay we wouldn't have got a classic space or castle revival at all. Eldorado Fortress is unfortunately not as impressive (I've seen it only at the Lego store), so I'll buy the most interesting parts only and get the upcoming medieval village instead.
-
Personally I suspect it's more a legal issue that Lego (for now) isn't allowed to make a whole new wave of sets rather than a survey result. Another BH is no surprise, but I expected something more interesting this time e.g a Gondor soldier vs Orc. A shield with the printed white tree emblem would have been fantastic.

And still no cement mixer mentioned... must be a conspiracy of some sort. I really look forward to the Jungle sets, the harbor and cargo ship sound also very exciting. I wonder if they'll elevate the road plates somehow for the harbor wall.

Finally the long wait for official images is over but it's a disappointing start for me so far. City has become so... dark suddenly, so many black or dark blue pieces and the glaring neon yellow only emphasizes this impression. Police: the box art looks very sinister, rainy weather with lighting. Certainly looks cool but the colors on the vehicles are not to my taste. Prison island is the only interesting set. A harbor subtheme in summer would go well this police wave for sure. Fire: station looks very "megablocky" / too massive and I sure miss the usual garage doors but a non traditional shape is refreshing. Too many black pieces. The small helicopter looks great. Vehicles: Mostly odd or very dark colors again. Good to see at least one construction set - though it's still not a cement mixer (!) I'll only buy the sailing boat. Space: I was really hoping for more interesting aliens; after all intelligent alien life forms are more probable than crooks disguising themselves as ice-cones... The space base is unfortunately the weakest set, it's so bland it doesn't fit the other futuristic sets in the wave. Maybe the back of the box will change my mind. The interstellar spaceship is my favorite. Thanks for all the pictures LCP!

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
brimbolet replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Finally ordered the police station before it goes out of stock. With three sets retiring in December and only the museum revealed, do you think we'll get another smaller modular in late spring/early summer 2024 or not? -
I'm not regularly at a Lego store, but when I am, I always find some historical torsos or legs from the older CMF series. So some parts must be still produced. I'll keep my fingers crossed for something special.

In January the Blacktron Cruiser (190$) and the Lunar New Year VIP pack (50$) ran concurrently. In July it was available with 2x points (for selected themes only), Bionicle and another VIP pack for 220$. Since GWPs are aimed at adult buyers, Lego will increase the threshold even further - I'll bet next year we'll have a 300$ GWP for regular sets (I don't count special offers for sets like the Colosseum). I just hope the next historical themed GWP will be much better. Something based on ancient Greece/Persia or Rome/Egypt would be amazing!

Hmm, not entirely sold on the idea. Seems to me that far too many pieces are "wasted" to build just the structure for the ring where the modules can be attached and which has no play value otherwise. The current 60350 seems like much more fun for the asked price.

I know it's just dreaming, but I'd like to see a small medieval merchant vessel similar to 6057, since we haven't seen any medieval boats in a very long time - unless one counts the Viking ship.
