10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
brimbolet replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I can't believe it... a forestmen hideout GWP! Have still the blacksmith on my wishlist, now is the perfect time to get it. And the 150€ spending amount seems reasonable for once. The castle sounds great too, I'm just a little worried about the ramp. Seems rather odd to have the gate on the first floor (looking from the back); I was expecting a solution more in the line of Helm's Deep, so that kids can drive a merchant cart more easily through it. I'm really exited for the first pictures!- 2,976 replies

Lego City 2022 Rumours, Leaks, Information And Discussion
brimbolet replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
The grocery store is indeed great and the lack of the roof is no problem at all. The width of a building is far more important in my eyes. It's a shame Lego has stopped making houses or shops since the mid 90's or even earlier. However if I had to decide between the two similar priced sets I would take the barn just because of the animals. How true. -

I always wonder how that's possible, buying new sets or new pieces through Bricklink, eBay or even B&P at a good price I mean, because it never worked for me. Example: one lion costs minimum 15€, a lion cub from the European magazine foil pack 5€ (all without the shipping) .60307 Wildlife camp (100€) has 2 lions, 2 cubs + elephant, monkeys, eagle (don't know the prices) so they make already at least 50% of the official price. I think it's better to wait for some time for a discount at the local retailer and you get the rest from the set for just ca. 20€. And that's not too bad, I think. You can wait for next year's City rumors to decide, but with the current inflation I can't imagine that we'll be getting another single farm set at a fairer price. Still the barn is a better choice than the grocery store (which I like very much) or the farmer's van (absolute disappointment) in my opinion. -
Great idea! Hopefully I can get some of the torsos too.

Lego City 2022 Rumours, Leaks, Information And Discussion
brimbolet replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
Lego City isn't perhaps regarded as an expensive theme by the general non AFOL audience, since there are quite a lot of small sets around, but for quite some time I have the feeling that most of them aren't worth the price or even attractive enough. There are magnificent exceptions like the small 'Picnic in the Park' but really good City sets cost at least 60€. The farmer's truck (with only one little rabbit!) and all the mission sets are 30€ each, but are they a good present for kids? I seriously doubt it when I see a Jurassic Park set with truck and two dinosaurs for the same price. But since the new animal moulds are fantastic, I expect them to show up in other sets sooner or later. I still have to buy the huge Safari outpost. -

Brickset has pictures of a great 30590 polybag with farmer, scarecrow, rabbit & water can! Hopefully I'll get couple of these when they are around; apart from the very expensive farm set this is the only summer set I'm getting for sure. Unfortunately the train station is quite bland, the ridiculous crossing - really unsafe, glad we have a City hospital now - and the (good) vehicles take all the necessary parts away from it. The price is also quite hefty for what we are getting. Still undecided about that one. -

Finally pictures! As always there's light in shadow in the final sets; but it's great that we get some farm sets at last. The henhouse is unfortunately quite a poor set compared to the current 60326 Picnic in the Park (only 5€ more + exclusive); it has one bigger animal or minifig missing. The animals are of course fantastic, though the wool piece is in my opinion a waste of a mold - a fox for the henhouse / new goat would have been far better. The new watering can is also nice touch. Hopefully the various mission sets will show up soon. -

Wow this is great news. Until now I've never spend more than 200€ on a single set and a castle for 350€ is way beyond what I can actually afford, but damn... I really hope more details will follow soon!- 2,976 replies

Got the Kids' Playground polybag in my local store today and it's really great, my favorite of the year so far. Do you think we'll get a wildlife one with some animal + ranger? -

Can't wait for some preliminary images, all the animals sound really great! I hope the barn won't remain a Lego exclusive... 60301 Wildlife Off Roader is already 45€ (157 Pieces), so I unfortunately expect the price for the barn to rise up to 70€... What we need in the long run is an affordable Xtra pack with animals (farm/safari/woods/pets/...) for let's say 10€! -

I agree. However dairy products from goat milk (and vegan products) are now hugely advertised where I live. Perhaps Lego will surprise us... -

Apparently the New York Toy Fair got cancelled (again) so we won't be seeing any sets for months I suppose... too bad, I'm really looking forward to see the farmer sets and the smaller missions packs! I hope they have interesting animals in them, because let's face it, the current range of wildlife sets is expensive and not suitable for spontaneous gifts... -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
brimbolet replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
This is a very interesting modular, it has vivid colors (copper roof), a different style and nice details. The geometry must have been a real challenge for the designers, but I’m not entirely convinced with the presented solution. Triangular buildings are very cool but in real life the facades always follow the cities grid system/pattern. Here it’s the other way round, making the modular "loose space". The placement of the stairs leading to the terrace emphasizes this, making the overall look a bit unrealistic/messy since hotel buildings of the belle époque relied on classic architectural composition and proportions. -

Thank you both. Perhaps putting together 2 sets is indeed the best solution. -

I really hope my toy store will get the polybags for once. Just love the kid's playground, even if there is a frog and no squirrel. -

So what do you think after the first official City pictures: should I get the current 60125 fire station (with light and sound) or the new one, which has a few more pieces? I missed the last one 60110 and I fear that the next big headquarters will be even more junorized. -

You were right. An easy skip for me. I see that something can be attached to the rocket from the biggest space set. I wonder how that will look like. -
Perhaps not strictly on topic, but Disney Princess 43208 gets a new tiger mould, I think.
