  1. They could make an entire series of bigger figures if they wanted: Beast, Baymax, Ralph, Pete, Sully, Bing Bong, Blue, Hunchback, even ones like Gaston, Genie, Mr. Incredible, etc. Heck they could even do an animal line or mix it with the big-figs (Brave Bear, Lion King, Dumbo etc). Disney gives Lego so many options.
  2. The original Tarzan is so old that I think it's just public IP now. So Disney still owns their version but they can't prevent people from making their own movies, toys, products. So while it's possible they may avoid it completely from here on out, they are not legally obligated not to do so. In either case, it does diminish the probability of the list being accurate a bit.
  3. I I think that's the case. Kids move on quickly. Capitalize while it's hot. Make them make their parents buy as many "booster packs" as possible to "collect them all". Sound familiar? The exception would be anytime there's an actual line of sets for the movie ie Toy Story.
  4. Disney is currently making a live action Jungle Book movie. They'd save those characters for the wave that coincides with the release of that movie.
  5. What this list tells me, if real, is that this is a line that will continue for a long, long time. They're including some classic figures (Peter Pan), some filler figures (less popular Disney characters like Tarzan), and a full suite of current figures (Inside Out). You sell the hot new characters to kids, rope in the adults with the classics, and save a lot of the hot-ticket figs for future waves with the less popular ones. If you run through all the popular ones now then the future waves won't sell. In that regard, this list makes perfect sense to me.
  6. Yeah. I even found them in some stores at a New Zealand airport. Not a toy store with Legos... at a convenience type store with one small shelf of assorted toys. We had some foreign currency to burn so it worked out nicely.
  7. That small park set with the statue that is rumored to be the Brick Bank promo. Brick Bank itself isn't bad either. : ) Disney CMF The new Fairgrounds and Winter Village sets (if they do them).
  8. Cool. We're going to get the ones with the animals, the Shark suit guy for me, and the Queen for the wife. Perhaps the Janitor for our city and the Native American for the baby. Thanks for posting the pictures!
  9. Anybody try making turning Artjitzu into a modular yet to remedy that? The MMV buildings close. Avengers Tower does, too, albeit the set is just the top of a building. Creator is nice, like UCS, because you pay more for them. Although a pair of Bike Shops still look terrible compared to the Detective's Office, the ones mentioned previously look great for their price and could stand their own vs. modulars etc if the buyer were to invest a bit more time/money into a MOC.
  10. Like a few of you, I'm not really into Ninjago, but this set looks awesome. Has anybody tried to turn it into a modular yet? As is, it doesn't fit into our city but I'm almost done with a Haunted House modularization and think the pieces in this set would lend itself towards something similar albeit more challenging.
  11. Awesome job. I like the Rocket Raccoon cameo.
  12. Help, please? My wife and I have "sig-figs" for ourselves and our dogs. Problem is our husky mix is different colors from the Lego husky figure. I want a custom one that looks like our dog. I don't trust myself to the task, but I still have questions: What are my options? What's the best quality? Who could I order that service from? Sorry for the off-topic questions since decal isn't the answer...
  13. We have a double Town Home single Pet Shop so this would even us out. We also added the Haunted House. I am mid-MOC on it now. Problem is that the Ghostbusters HQ is still too tall. I read these measurements elsewhere: Ghostbusters Firehouse: • Measures over 14” (36cm) high, 9” (25cm) wide and 14” (38cm) deep. Brick Bank: • Measures over 10” (26cm) high, 10” (25cm) wide and 10” (25cm) deep. Haunted House: • Measures 15.4” (39cm) high, 9.4” (24cm) wide and 7.5” (19cm) deep Town Hall: • Measures 20” (50 cm) high and 10” (25.5 cm) wide Sounds good until you realize the Town Hall and Haunted House are that tall because of their towers. The building itself will be larger than the Town Hall. No surprise since the car isn't to scale with the modulars (and their cars), either. I've never seen the movie (I know, I know) and I disliked the spinoff cartoon as a kid so modular compatibility is my main factor (price, too). I'll probably make a point to see the movie and I do still want to see pictures of this next to modulars but I'm planning on sitting this one out at the moment. Happy for all you Ghostbuster fans, though. : )
  14. We've all stopped one hobby and started another. Interests change. Time is limited and young adults have lots of options. Sometimes it's about money. Lego is expensive (and valuable). Strong factor for college kids. I think for toys (action figures, Lego, etc) there's often a gap between when you stop playing with them and when you start buying them again but to display them. Peer pressure can be a factor for some. Shouldn't be.
  15. Parisian Restaurant I never stopped being a fan of Lego but I needed money in my teens and never bought back in because of price. My wife insisted that we buy the PR despite my warnings. That was about 3-months ago. Now we have (at least) one of each modular except MS, which is currently arriving in phases via BrickLink, a UCS Imperial Shuttle, most of the Winter Village, a few other sets like Ferris Wheel and Emerald Night, storage for the spare pieces, and four tables to house everything...
  16. I just returned from my dark age. My wife and I went into the Lego store. She really liked the Parisian Restaurant. I told her it was a bad idea. We went to see our movie to consider buying it and to let her heed my warning. She still insisted we should buy it. I couldn't resist. We returned. It's just 3-months later and we own all the modulars but Market Street, all the Winter Village except Bakery and Post Office (and train if that counts), the Ferris Wheel and Mixer, and an Emerald Night. Because those are the advanced series that we both appreciate, I won't go in another direction at the expense of those but I mostly played with Star Wars as a kid so I could see myself being tempted by the dark side. Problem now is it's all vehicles and mediocre replicas of various scenes. I don't *woosh* much nor do I personally enjoy having a shelf of only semi-related non-cohesive sets next to one-another. I Bricklink'ed myself a UCS Imperial Shuttle for display for now. I loved that idea of the modular style Naboo hangar where you could put a dozen of those together and replicate the entire thing. Extend that idea out to other iconic locations/scenes and that would make a cool display. You could collect one of each. You could just pick one of each of your favorite scenes from your favorite movies. You could buy multiples of one (or more) and do it in a grander scale. Guess it is Lego and that could be done with the ships, a baseplate for each, and some creativity. Hmm... or perhaps if they effectively executed a sports theme. I'm not sure how do effectively do that in Lego, which was the problem, but combining interests is always fun so if they could do it well, I'd be in. But yeah, if anything, modulars for us too are what "seduced", only it was back to Lego in the first place.
  17. This is really cool. I found pictures of your setup before I found this forum. Your tile colors and pattern is very well chosen and I like your benches and flowers. The water it looks like you're incorporating should be a nice touch. I think, surprisingly, you might not be aspiring enough though. I also think a fountain in the middle would better suit the grandeur of your square. Maybe something like Barcelona's Magic Fountain. I would be careful using statues, or at least a lot of them. While I like the effect of the one in the Ninja temple and the 2016 park polybag thing, it could be kinda tacky. Could be wrong though; worth the experiment if you have the money. Your square makes me think how it would be nice if Lego made an inverse corner modular, though you've made the most of not having them via your bike path. It would also be painful for Lego to figure out the best way of doing that, too. Anyway, I'd also like to use tiles to spruce up my city but I am waiting until I actually accumulate a small variety of 2x2s via PAB. I'm surprised the gray 2x2 and 2x1 tiles aren't more commonly available, or maybe I've just been unlucky. That and I'm Lego broke from my dark age recovery (and I still have a few expensive sets to go).
  18. To be fair, it's all subjective. Why do we ask most things? I don't think he wants "yes/no" but reasoning he hasn't considered yet for additional insight on the purpose. I don't have either but uh... I assume you don't plan on selling either and don't really care about the values so won't go there. There could eventually be a UCS Poe X-Wing. 1 Luke 1 Poe works but having all the UCS X-Wings would be a neat sub-collection to the UCS theme as a whole. Do you collect regular X-Wings? You could get Luke and Porkins minifigures and have them fly together. How do you feel about the color? This one's whiter. But yeah, pictures, money etc
  19. Wow! You stole my thunder with that ISD. But the SSD has "Super" in front of the name hahah so here goes anyway: My best find was a 20+ lb bag of Lego for around $200. Owner said it had "the shop and haunted house in it". I noticed the yellow "SHOP" letters from the GE up against the clear plastic side of the bag and while I didn't see any sand green, I figured hey, worst case I get an Emporium for market value and 20 lbs of free Lego and I might even get the Monster Fighters Haunted House. We buy it, pour out the pieces and sure enough! Emporium, MF Haunted House, VW Van, most of a Shuttle, a bunch of gray pieces and what's this... a Vader minifigure? I look up the variant and what sets he comes in, put 2-and-2 together after I look back at all the pieces on the table, and realize we got a UCS Super Star Destroyer.
  20. Speculators that I've been borrowing insight from during my effort to recover from my dark age (just a Market Street and a couple WV sets away!) are thinking that it's out the door ASAP. I remember somebody posting a lifetime chart on the modulars and, besides the Town Hall, they've typically lasted four years... which is how long the Pet Shop has been out. I've also read the PC received the new box treatment while PS hasn't. It appears as though there's a decent amount of PS still in stock though so it may be "on shelves" a bit longer than the GE and TH were last year (which apparently largely disappeared in September/October and is why I said I was crossing my fingers for you about late November). I'm not claiming anything; just posting observations/speculations mostly made by others to provide some context on the concern.
  21. For context, I think DO is ok on the outside but has perhaps the best interior thus far. PS is retiring soon if you're considering collecting but is basically empty inside the Town Home. PC looks nice from the outside but uses stickers and isn't very detailed on the inside. Having built every modular except GG, I think PR is the best one due to its combination of exterior looks and interior detail.
  22. Nice; crossing my fingers for you for PS to last to the Gingerbread promotion. But yeah, CC and GG... I was buying/selling Lego lots in order to afford those. We bought one lot with GG TH FB GE PS + VW Cottage for $1400 even though we already had four of the modulars. We're selling the rest and if it goes according to plan, GG + VWC shouldn't set us back more than $500. OFC It takes some savings, risk, and some work to pull it off. Great finds afforded us some others.
  23. Thanks!! Now to try to get back "on track", have they done a cart with logs on it? That'd be a cool feature that perhaps hasn't been done before for AFOLs and has "disaster" play-ability for the kiddos. Seems like they could even do it on an updated 50th Anniversary train... have to do something to add details to the back pieces, right?
  24. I just bought that Spider-man vs. Doc Ock armored truck set. We already had a Spider-man swinging around our city. He needed a counterpart and to your point, the truck will go great with the bank. I really hope that park set is the polybag myself. Oddly enough it's my favorite 2016 set so far. Simple. Elegant. Homely. Really captures what the modulars are to me while also bringing them together (you guys did just suggest a park for the middle of the city block once the 2017 set completes it). It'll also help the Ferris Wheel fit in better, too.
  25. Nice : ) Bought my first one of these tonight to see how it looks with a civilian driving it in our modular city. Might grab some others if we like the fit. Anybody else try parking a Porsche outside the Grand Emporium for some day shopping? lol
