I stumbled across another piece/idea: Part 30342 Rock Arctic Globe, Bottom It comes in Light Gray & Light Bluish Gray. It's not the smoothest texture and you'd have to use it upside-down, not ideal, but you'd be able to put the antenna through it or - more accurately, you'd be able to rest it on top of the antenna. Perhaps you could add a 2x2 inverted dish, too, in order to help smooth over the top of the dome. The other issue is it only came in the original UCS SSD so it'll Super Star Destroy your wallet.

Calling out other 'uncivilized' behavior doesn't justify ones own. Why not just sell it? There are plenty of SW minifig collectors out there. You're all about 'sending TLG a message' with your purchases; on this one, your biggest, most important opportunity to send the PT message, you're going to sit it out to spite a bunch of people you don't know? Can't be mad at TLG for listening to messages from the fans, right? Also, keep in mind that if Jedi Bob won the most votes because of trolls, then they're the reason the Gunship beat out the Nebulon-B because like half of its votes came from trolls. Point being, in any case, you're not just spiting a bunch of people you don't know - you're spiting people you don't know that also happened to support the same thing you're also passionate about. The 332nd is expensive because it's mass-able. The better comparison is Ahsoka or, heck, the Mando currently on the market. -

Yes, it fits, but I'm not sure it's a technique that'd ever be used in an official TLG set. It's very tight and there may be a small amount of lingering friction on the pieces, but it fits. The conflicting info leaves just about everything in play except that the May UCS set will be between $200-250. No confirmation it's even the Gunship. The set list going around says the May set is $200. mandr sourced that the May set is $250. mandr also said he's assuming May is the UCS Gunship. -
Lego should do Star Wars collectible mini figures
Pedilego replied to Jimalaya's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Keep in mind that CMFs aren't just about the figures. We got the latest diver because we liked the turtle, not because the figure was special. There are lots of accessories & animals that could make a CMF pack attractive: blaster molds e.g. Han's, lightsaber molds e.g. Anakin's, Luke's Endor poncho, Luke's RotJ hair, a lothcat, mouse droid mold, etc.- 49 replies

Let's talk it through by the numbers: is it possible for a $250 Gunship to be minifigure scale? The m5_builds custom Gunship has over 1,400 pieces. That does include double doors but not bubble turrets, flood lights, or minifigures. The BrickVault custom Gunship contains 1,587 pieces. I'm assuming this count includes the double doors, bubble turrets, & flood lights. Side Note: I'm not saying double doors & flood lights for Clone Wars conversions are likely; I'm just seeing what max part count gets us. The custom sets don't include a speeder, which was another 27 parts in the 2013 Gunship. A more detailed version may use 50 pieces? The custom sets don't include a UCS plaque or display stand. The A-Wing used just over 100 pieces so the Gunship may need 150 pieces? The custom sets don't include minifigures. If this set is scaled to them, there's no reason they couldn't, say, re-create the Dooku pursuit scene (2 pilots, 2 gunners, 2 clones, Anakin, Kenobi, Padme, Dooku) plus Commander Cody from the fan vote. That's another ~50 pieces. Ok, so even if they included all of ^that, we're looking at a part count in the mid-1,800s. For comparison, The 2013 UCS Ewok Village had 1,990 pieces, 21 minifigures, and retailed for $249.99 USD. The 2016 UCS Assault on Hoth had 2,144 pieces, 15 minifigures, and retailed for $249.99 USD. The 2017 UCS Snowspeeder had 1,703 pieces, 2 minifigures, and retailed for $199.99 USD . The 2018 UCS Y-Wing had 1,967 pieces, 2 minifigures, and retailed for $199.99 USD. The 2020 UCS A-Wing had 1,673 pieces, 1 minifigure, and retailed for $199.99 USD. This theoretical 2021 UCS Gunship could have up to 1,850 pieces, 11 minifigures, and retail for $249.99 USD. To me, while $200 is entirely possible, a $250 minifigure scale Gunship is tipping the scales a bit too much. For the record, I'd personally prefer & purchase more at minifigure scale. Huh I didn't know that! Thanks for sharing. -

Did he say he heard the May set was going to be $250? Or the UCS Gunship? I thought it was the former, with a possibility of it being both. I've been of the mind that it'll be a bit larger than normal, scaled to use the 20455 Cylinder Hemisphere 9 x 4 x 7 used for the Jurrasic World Gyrosphere. As we know, UCS sets have a higher standard for accuracy & aesthetics and I feel like that's the ideal part for the bubble turrets on the side. https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=20455&idColor=12#T=S&C=12&O={"color":12,"iconly":0} -
Unpopular Opinions related to Lego Star Wars
Pedilego replied to TheAbsoluteSt81's topic in LEGO Star Wars
As a lifelong fan, 'updating my knowledge' on the Clone Wars really expanded my enthusiasm for Star Wars. I enjoyed the PT just fine as a teen, but the final arch of the Clone Wars is up there with the OT for me. I was just sharing that; no offense taken, at all. Couple things about the show: Lucas has a thing for telling stories out of order. I highly recommend chronological order, not release order: https://www.starwars.com/news/star-wars-the-clone-wars-chronological-episodeorder Shows are better when you learn the characters. Do the same with the clones. It's difficult at first & they're easy to dismiss as generic but it's worth it. It's Game of Thrones in reverse; starts off bad & progressively gets better. If you're struggling, find a "watch list" online that condenses the ~150 episodes into the most pivotal/entertaining episodes. You can always go back & fill in the gaps once you're actually invested. This is the closest thing I've seen for posting collection. It's an old thread but it checks out: https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/18914-show-your-army-navy-and-collection-display/&page=79 On topic: I think the disdain for Lego re-sellers is way overstated: Lego is very well aware of this group & if they wanted to find ways to shut or slow them down, they could. But, in a way, re-sellers provide a service to the community. It effectively extends the shelf life of sets. Yes, you're paying a premium to get it after it retires but imo that's only fair. For example, the early modulars are going for thousand(s) of dollars NIB because nearly all of the sets purchased were done with the intention of building. More recent retired modulars are going for far less because, in large part, there's a healthy amount of sets that were bought to be sold at a later date. I've done a lot of eBay sniping during COVID. I bought, built, and re-sold a lot of stuff. From it, I organized a lot of Lego & completed a lot of sets (e.g. BrickLink orders) - putting a decent number of sets 'back into circulation'. Personally, I got to build a lot of sets I wouldn't have otherwise been able to build, keep a lot of sets, figures, and/or parts for "free", and any money I made went back into our family Lego fund to buy stuff like the latest MBS. BTW Yes, I sold my Yoda lightsaber; it's what made the Cantina affordable enough to get when we did. FWIW I'm not saying this as an absolute; there are times where it's scummy, but a lot of people out there seem to think it's an absolute that any or nearly any kind of re-selling is scummy.- 127 replies

Unpopular Opinions related to Lego Star Wars
Pedilego replied to TheAbsoluteSt81's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Lego is the biggest toy company in the world by a wide margin. According to one article I found, Bandai is the 2nd biggest at $1.6 billion (as of 2019). Based on that, if TLG decided to enforce 18+ and become "adults only", they'd still be the largest toy company in the world. Yeah, probably a minority opinion on here but certainly not rare. It's def fair to say they were bad guys in the movies, but what the cartoon showed is that they're victims, too, forced to betray their brothers-and-sisters-in-arms against their will. It's more than them just being good guys, though; aesthetically, the colors & variations offer wider appeal. I'd compare it to classic sneakers or sports uniforms versus what Nike's been able to do with those products. BTW I drudged through the series a few years ago. Season 7 happened earlier this year. Wow. Re-watched the entire series over the summer with my daughter. Changed me from neutral about Clones to a big fan. If you/anybody's interested, I made a list of ~30 eps for a friend to watch before Season 2 of Mando.- 127 replies

LEGO Star Wars 2020 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Pedilego replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I hear the people saying "be patient" and "product development takes time" but allow me a couple of counter-points: Season 7 of the Clone Wars aired early this year. Streaming numbers don't necessarily equal sales but that and the consensus reviews on the Siege of Mandalore arch should've gotten TLG's attention. I feel like TLG tapered back because of poor toy sales from Disney Star Wars. @jdubbs mentioned Rebels but it's been pretty universal. However, the Clone Wars audience justified a lot of lines over the years. Now those kids/fans are older, have money, might have their own kids, and the audience has expanded to others, too, due to streaming. There are people at TLG whose job it is to analyze these things and make decisions. A window missed does reduce the chance we see certain sets. The further a potential product release is away from the release of the source material, the less likely it is that Lego can/should/will try to ride the wave. I think the popularity of SoM demands that we'll see Ahsoka vs. Maul, new Mandos (Bo? Maul Mandos, etc.) but chances for stuff like a 501st Y-Wing diminishes with each wave, and hope for something like a CIS MTT happening seems long-gone. I agree with you and @wesker. I like that they're trying to appeal to AFOLs, even if I'm not into the product lines, but not when there's multiple going at once and it feels like they're at the expense of system. BTW Since when have the set numbers been known? One YouTuber speculated the quantity of sets and/or dates of release could be due to COVID, which would make it much more understandable. Anyways, it's nice to see most people being measured in expressing thoughts & concerns while taking a wait & see attitude before really passing judgment. While I'm disappointed in a couple of ways, I'm also still interested to see the sets. I agree with @Brikkyy13 about the Slave I & Vader Tie. They're really accurate, fit the figs, and kids can actually swoosh them against each other at the same time. -

You're one of those that think the Empire are the good guys, huh? But yeah, it's interesting how George cleverly found a way to have what are effectively faceless troops because, you know, aimed at kids and all - and then ended up reversing that in the show by giving, really, both sides personalities / clear sentience. Off the top of my head, the PT has the 1999 Qui-Gon & Jar Jar vs. STAP in the Naboo swamps, Duel of the Fates, and Dooku vs. Yoda whereas the OT has Mos Eisley (thrice + UCS), Hoth (countless various location builds, Wampa Cave, multiple trenches, Echo Base, Medical Bay, etc.), Endor (Bunker, Bright Tree Village, various smaller ones), Final Duel (4 times if you count the 2 OG mini-sets that I was so fond of as a kid) and Yoda's Hut in the X-Wing set, too. That's 3 sets vs. close to 20, from my personal memory at least. Unpopular Opinion: I think the newer Turbo Tank is underrated & most late 00s sets are overrated for similar (or rather opposite) reasons: The old ones have size but lack sturdyness.- 127 replies

Thanks for addressing this lol. I sensed a lot of... bitterness. I'm a prequel kid, too, but I started my kid off on ANH. Luke's journey is timeless, as are the core characters. That said, a lot of the other points mentioned are valid, including the one about playsets. IMO the PT/CW has better world-building & should theoretically be more conducive to a Lego sets - since there's more variety (at the expense of 'iconicity') and the 'good guy' faction is cooler. It's just a shame that its almost exclusively vehicles besides, what, Duel of the Fates? Hopefully the prequels get at least one of those large scale playsets (e.g. Jedi Temple, Geonosis) as well as more small ones.- 127 replies

So... : ) speaking of Instagram rumors, what's the validity of the one about a Star Wars line of CMF in 2021? Ashnflash very casually dropped it in his Looney Toons CMF rumor video earlier this month: https://youtu.be/iFUf1cW89d4 To the thread at large: yes, Hasbro has blocked TLG from making it in the past, but we've heard that the contract is due to expire soon. That means Disney (on behalf of their partnership with Lego) could've renegotiated those terms. Further, the timing jives with the other rumors we've had: People are already up-in-arms about no battle packs, but (as usual) might there be more to the picture that we're not seeing? BPs have always been Lego's way of selling figures in spite of Hasbro... but what's the need if they can sell the figures via a CMF line? Sure, it makes army building more expensive... but that's sort of the point, isn't it? -

It's important to distinguish between calling what somebody's doing, say, silly, and actually calling them as a person silly. TNO is simply pointing out the flaws in the logic used against the TLG designers, whereas you're calling him a shill. Who's insulting who? I say that to address the 'insulting', but also call attention to the need for nuance in language and thought: Sincerely, you all arguing in favor of the Tie Bomber make valid points. However, these arguments oscillate between context and selective focus. For example, You cite examples like the ship from Galaxy's edge as being obscure. Yes, this is true. However, it ignores that it created as a co-branding effort for a brand-new ride around (a) receiving sales from Disney Theme Park fanatics and, on the other side, (b) build awareness for the ride to make it less obscure & more popular - increasing park interest. Will it work? Unsure. But the unknown presents an opportunity. (Note that you don't have to agree with the decision to see how the decision could've been reasonably justified.) Further, I underlined brand-new because timing is important for Lego sales. (IMO this is a point that can, probably did, and probably will be applied to the Fallen Order series.) Where's the timing for a Bomber? Other than the failed UCS vote, if you catch my meaning. Again, regarding context: obscurity & timing are just two of many variables that make up a very long equation in decision making in sets. You can't simply address each one in a vacuum and think you've effectively dispelled TLG's logic. On the other hand, TNO has done an excellent job providing the broader context, the sum of variables if you will, by filling in gaps between what the interviewers didn't say. After all, they can't do so themselves - it's a short-form interview, and they're limited in what they can reveal by legal and normative business reasons. It's not being a shill to provide this context. Rather, it's our responsibility to fully understand their perspectives, especially if you disagree with them. After all, you can't prove them wrong unless you've effectively dispelled their logic. Real talk, it's like when my wife tries to parse my words instead of address their collective meaning. When she does this, it's clear she's trying to win an argument rather than truly address my concerns. She may feel like she won a battle, that argument, the war of words, but because I wasn't heard, neither of us change our behavior for the better afterwards. "Seek first to understand, then to be understood". Without doing so, you'll just be talking past them the same way you may feel like they're doing to you. -

I did a search of existing ANH Tatooine sets that may be good to pick and in M&R's review of Kenobi's homestead, he seemed convinced the clips on the bottom were to connect to something else. Could we be looking at a clip-based modular Tatooine? Regarding minifigures, remember a Kardue'sai'Malloc / Devaronian could be used in a Mando S1E6 set. If it is more than just the cantina, the possibilities also include remakes of R2-A5 & R5-A2 (just a couple of many characters strolling around Mos Eisley), Jabba & Boba Fett (unlikely but they were in the Special Edition hangar scene), Uncle Owen & Aunt Beru, as well as the Tusken Raider/Banthan mold that's been mentioned. -

[Insert "Why not both?" meme here] Seriously, though, it's possible it'll include the Episode IV Imperial Landing Craft/Shuttle. That'd explain the Imperial Shuttle rumor, add play-ability, and be a ship that could be used in the suggested hangar area of the diorama - notably leaving the Falcon out, encouraging you to buy your own UCS or play-scale version. After all, if the Kenobi Hut and Land Speeder have anything to say, Lego is actually coordinating their releases and expecting/hoping you'll buy additional sets to fill out the scene/planet. -
You've already done the things I'd find most compelling for TLG to make, and very well at that - I come into this thread to see every post on the chance you have another awesome concept. I def appreciate the inclusion of Rook. The showrunners obviously made a point to have a lot of female Mandos on both sides & we really need them represented. Even just more generally speaking, we need more subtle variety in the costumes/minifigures & yours offer that thru her and others. Speaking of the platform battle, yours really captures the feel of the infantry battle with good minimalism / low part count, and the holo-shield that the lead commando uses is a nice touch, too, so nice I decided to steal it hahah. That said, regarding ideas, you could do a blue Y-Wing, a scaffolding take on the Tano-Maul duel, and/or a Jesse hangar confrontation. Also, personally, my favorite part of the battle might just be the intro from out of the gunships and into the skies. I can't count how many times I've watched the YouTube mashup of the start of ROTS+TSOM. Can't help but notice you haven't had Rex or Bo, either. Maul's capture, Maul's escape/hallway scene, and the crash site are memorable, too, but probably too dark. You could find a way to incorporate the 3 droids on the Venator.

I can't remember the last time I bought a new Lego set. I look regularly, too. But we actually downsized my Star Wars collection (and our city) in February (sold the ones that weren't practical for play; kept the Ewok Village & Sandcrawler displays/play areas). I'm early 30s & returned from my dark ages about 5-years ago. I've recently had sort of a 2nd wind of interest because of (1) quarantine, (2) Season 7, (3) news of the UCS Gunship, (4) a young child that's reached the age where she wants to act out things with toys, and (5) a boy on the way. My dad introduced me to the OT in the 90s (RotJ is still my favorite) and I was really into the PT growing up, even if they weren't great, because of the lore. I snoozed through the Clone Wars a few years ago. Then the Siege of Mandalore happened. Tremendous; perhaps my favorite Star Wars since RotJ since it's great and enhances the PT. It's making me take a second look at everything PT related, including the rest of CW - appreciating things that I didn't even notice before. To bring it back, this Fall, I'll be buying a 501st Battle Pack, and that AAT (just for the figures). Health- and stock-related circumstances permitting, I may even take my daughter to the store morning of release. I'd really like Bo Katan, new Maul Mandos, and I now understand the Phase II Cody frustration. None of which I would've gotten before. But the big stuff I'd be interested in is still the same; I'm just a bit more motivated now: Give me a UCS Gunship. I've love to see them bring back the dropship, particularly since it features 501st blue. A turbo tank could be great, too. Geonosis Arena, done well, would be a must-have, too. If they'd done any of those (well, done well), I would've been off the sidelines sooner. Anyways, I hope, as a dad trying to be space and cost conscious, the Gunship (and rumored Lambda) combo for display and play. As somebody mentioned, a lot of the PT stuff has or could easily be done in minifigure scale. I think that's great, because then you're not increasing the price of something like the Falcon to $700 only to make it less playable than the system scale Falcons - you can stay in the same size range and drastically improve the quality and detail. The previous Gunships aregood but there's a lot that can still be done, and I'd love to see what TLG could do in more-or-less the same size with another 1,000 pieces or with new molds. Think 2010 Turbo Tank size with 2016 Turbo Tank quality, which is far more sturdy for play and looks cleaner all the way around. -
A few years ago I picked up video games again and, while catching up, a couple of my favorites (Uncharted 2 & Far Cry 4) took place in South Asia. It inspired me to create a couple of smaller vehicles, which in turn led me to creating this entire project: Here's the full flickr gallery if you want to see more - as well as the link to the project in Ideas, if you're interested in adding your support: https://www.flickr.com/photos/142667034@N04/with/49940857112/ https://ideas.lego.com/projects/f9009263-d502-4284-a0e7-be215d19972a

This guy? https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=86500&name=Cylinder Hemisphere 4 x 4&category=[Cylinder]#T=S&O={"iconly":0} Comes in LBG, too. A droid arm + one of those round plates with bar are ok to get the antenna up there but it looks funny from the sides/back.

Guess I am blind - thanks! It's not exactly what we're looking for, but in 2019 Lego released a "Brick, Round 3 x 3 x 1 1/3 Dome Top - Open Stud Item No: 49308" in Light Bluish Gray. I think with some tinkering, a similar look could be achieved. Seems like a 4x4 dome is needed for the correct proportions.
-
What's the piece? I tried to find it on the BrickLink Color Guide 3x but I must be blind. I came across this awesome design recently, too, and was interested in trying to build it.

Imagine the ideal zoo/wildlife "flagship" set... describe it. I don't understand why Lego hasn't done it, either, but a successful Ideas project could change things. I want to talk about it and make it happen because it needs to be made. I've already spent months trying to come up with a successful project. I have one on Ideas that I'm not posting because I'm not looking for votes; I want to know what you all would want so that I can try to make the ideal "flagship set". What would it look like? What's included? Be as descriptive and detailed as possible. I'll read every word of every response. Note: No new molds in Ideas projects BUT, if successful, Lego would surely make some.

Took this to a Lego convention this past weekend... kids loved the animals/exhibits and parents' eyes lit up when I showed them how it could be tidily stacked/cleaned up. Appreciate it! Constructive criticism really can go a long way if presented fairly and taken with an open mind. Hope others notice it as a positive example. Thanks again! Thank you! Hopefully it also inspires you... never too late! ; ) Thanks; nice recommendations! And hahah that's my normal work look... she had to play make-believe a bit.
-
Hi all, First, thank you all very much for the feedback. I used it and went back to get some more pictures (see OP), showing how expansive the layout can become & that this is a Zoo #1 and a modular #2. I also added some closer-up pictures of the exhibits. Thoughts?
-
I'm interested in having a friendly discussion and/or hearing recommendations with/from anybody interested because, to be honest, I really am surprised by the split reception. Lots of people to be taken back by what I thought was an imaginative solution to the space problem because it's not an entirely realistic presentation of Lego. Appreciate it. Spot on: rearrange-able (kids and adults alike love Zoo Tycoon for that exact reason) and customizable (Lego!). Hahah what can I say? The polar bear stays well fed with fish. Thanks. I'd be interested in hearing why if you don't mind. Thanks for your feedback and honesty. I really do appreciate it, and I don't necessarily disagree with points you're making. That said, I do have some counter-points: I think I presented my idea incorrectly by stating 1. modular 2. zoo whereas it should be thought of as 1. zoo 2. modular. Really, it's a zoo with modular exhibits that are placed together horizontally in a variety of configurations spanning up to up to 50" wide... which happens to have the ability to be neatly stored on a 10"x10" baseplate behind a striking facade as a modular building. Space in a children's room or an AFOL's city is at a premium, and something designed to be laid out purely as a traditional zoo would take up far too much space. More open-air exhibits would be nice but I was effectively required to take the glass exhibit approach on most of them based on ^factors mentioned above. I did try to capture the "open feel" in the way the facade was designed with open walkways, plants and vines growing all around, and the open air roof. The Palace Cinema "theater screen" is the size of a big screen tv. Scale is never perfect in Lego because, again, space. Even applies to minifigure living space.
