LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Pedilego replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The oldest images of a Phase 2 Gunner I’ve seen are also from action figures & they included that in the last Republic Fighter Tank. Also, a Lego Star Wars Visual Dictionary-type book appropriately had that tank as a Legends set. Perhaps this is TLG’s ‘vehicle’ for including non-cannon stuff. I’m hoping its the 187th as it’s way less likely to happen if it’s not now—since I’d eventually like to see both variants of Windu’s troopers. Sounds like a buy, either way… if it’s real. -

If I’m following correctly, the tank fills one of the final two mystery slots—priced at $30 USD and Unknown. It’s conceivable this takes that $30 slot, though, I could see them upsizing it & charing as much as double that: - The previous tank was $25 for 305 pieces and 2 figures (including a special headpiece) + 2 droids. - The 501st “battle pack” was $30 for 285 pieces and 4 figures + 2 droids. Either way, I’m interested to eventually see this + the rest of the non-helmet/microfighter sets. -

just2good released a colab video a few hours ago & mandr says that he’d cover leaks but he regrets being the source of the leaks. IIRC RepublicStuds has hinted that he already knows of at least 3 more sets—including a $100 set. I think it does stand to reason that the information is out there & mandr is dropping related videos that’ll benefit from when the sets are revealed. Not gospel by any means, just looking at the possibilities. -

I mean, the minifigure selection was a contentious topic before the reveal & before the initial Commander/Pilot comment controversy. TLG including it in their official designer video signals they’re a taaad bit tone deaf and/or not ‘getting it’ in regards to fan frustration. I feel like a lot of the stir is simply a response to that—the community’s way of saying it even louder this time so maybe TLG takes the hint. -
That Overwatch cape looks fantastic on Greef—I didn’t even know it existed. My only recommendation is Bellatrix’s arms from the Harry Potter CMF for Ventress.

Let’s all remember that these things aren’t mutually exclusive: It can be true that the timing is right for a Hoth Battle Pack while also being true there should be more Clones, Mandos, and/or Imperial Remnant availability. I think people understand that. IMO we should stop being so sensitive and responsive to the vocal minorities—particularly the ones that /aren’t/ on here. Not everything needs to be divisive. -

General LEGO Star Wars Discussion and Questions

I’ve been on eBay 20+ years & like them less & less. I’ve been burnt by bad buyers quite a bit. Their “seller protection” isn’t exactly “elite” so as long as a reliable intermediary (e.g. PayPal) is involved, you’ll get roughly the same outcomes as the seller. So here, Reddit trade forums, etc. are all legitimate possibilities. BrickLink does take a lower percentage, but they also have lower prices you’d have to compete with. I think the best place to sell Star Wars Lego at the moment is Mercari. They take a lower cut than eBay and I’ve seen even better prices than eBay in some cases, particularly Clones/PT stuff. Speculating here: I think Mandr drove a looot of fans there so it’s a hive for fans of the brand. Thing is, you have to be sure you priced your stuff right. It’s not an auction site—it’s Buy-It-Now with offers allowed. You want it as high as you can reasonably expect but not too high. Basically you want ‘the hive’ feeling FOMO & that urge to buy quick. That’s largely the system over there… lots of people refreshing often looking for ‘deals’ but (relative to other sites) paying over value on a good amount of SW stuff. ofc you could always do a combo strategy: Give items a go on Mercari first, if it doesn’t sell in the first few hours, expect to take it down after 2-3 days, and c/p it over to eBay. Good luck! -

I could see the stands (if not a photoshop ‘error’) being the the ones from the CMFs in white. That way some people will call it a “CMF 4-pack” of 4x $5 = $20—plus you get builds!! /s I just hope it comes with white kamas. -

Yeah, North America has had shipping delays since TLG released most of the new summer sets on August 1st. For context, I still haven’t received the $19.99 set I bought over weeks ago. I’m not holding my breath about them even shipping the B&P I ordered with it anytime soon. -

Yep, your reasoning on the elephant parts sounds right. I think that’s less likely for the cape & kamas. -

First, my elephant pieces were cancelled. Second, my licensed cloth pieces were cancelled. Didn't come away with anything that I couldn't have gotten from the B&P online interface. Ah well. -

Ah okay. Given that both are Star Wars cloth pieces, one is from a set that’s been out for for a year, and neither have dates—it seems unlikely they’ll come in stock. Based on what you’re saying, then, my best chance is (a) getting it on the order, done, and (b) hoping the order picker gives them to me for free. Doesn’t sound like my odds are great (never tell me the odds!) but there’s a chance. Thanks for the feedback! And thank you to the thread at large for all of the info. (My wife is going to love the full Reindeer team for her Winter Village!) -

I called in today (now that the Cruiser has come out). The CS Rep said they’re not in stock and (unlike the elephant) they show no restock date. They added them to my cart anyways, though. FWIW They’re on the Bricks & Pieces website but show 0.00 pricing, like the Elephant parts. What do the seasoned folks of this thread recon that means for my chances of actually getting them? -

Does calling into CS ever work on cloth pieces? I’m specifically thinking of the Airborne Clone Trooper Kama and Moff Gideon’s Red/Black cape (that appears to be the same as the Winter Village caroler from a few years back). -

I mean, that's tough; why do people get so obsessed over Stormtroopers (and/or Mandalorians)? Clones are the younger generation's Stormies with the added bonus of being the "good guys". All you have to do is look at the market for custom clones to see the passion. Especially in the Lego SW community because kids loved/love army building. Keep in mind, too, that Phase 1 Clones are far less differentiated from each other. Phase 2 is when the colors really pop. If you're army-building the 212th, then, you need a Phase 2 Cody to lead them. Cody himself is (a) important to the story as he is the second-in-command to the co-protagonist to the entire Prequel Trilogy era, making him one of the two most important clones, and the only one that appears in the movie. Also, he appears in his P2 armor in Seasons 4-7 (4 seasons) vs. Seasons 1-3 (3 seasons) in his P1 armor. (b) His design, yes, is also very unique. If you've looked into the market for custom clones, you'll see how much people love unique designs. People obsess over the different versions of Vader (ANH vs. ESB), Stormies, etc. It stands to reason, then, people would be interested in the primary version of this character. From a Meta perspective, (1) people feel emboldened from the 501st vote and feel like if they're vocal enough, they'll get it and (2) they're upset that they were 'bamboozled' by TLG supposedly ignoring the minifigure fan voting. BTW I'm not a Cody stan and I'm not devastated by his lack of inclusion (for any of the reasons above). That's just my perspective on the passion/vocalization of others. -

I absolutely think that $199.99 has been a purposeful pricing area that was a happy medium of ‘added detail’ for smaller ships while still being generally affordable. Again, I think it’s more reasonable to think ^that than to think it’s a coincidence that the Slave I, X-Wing, Y-Wing, A-Wing (!), and many other sets (not just Star Wars) tend to land there or close by. And, no, buyers/voters don’t need to be consciously aware of it to made decisions from it. After all, I researched the statistic specifically because the Gunship’s size and price went against my own intuition. As for a $200 minifig scale Gunship, I’ve posted an in-depth breakdown how easy that’d be couple of times. I’ll refrain from re-posting again for now. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter if you think I’m right—it matters if you think my logic is even plausible. Because, if so, it’s reasonable enough for people to have voted for the Gunship and to be disappointed when it wasn’t minifigure scale. -

Which one(s)? e.g. Sandcrawler, Falcon, ISD are NOT greater than minifigure scale. e.g. X-Wing, A-Wing are NOT greater than $200. -

Yeah, I’ve been following. I’m referring to the criticism of the people that voted on the Gunship thinking that it could be minifigure scale—not that the reveal/confirmation of it not being minifigure scale is a surprise. -

TBH the arrogance of the people shaming those that wanted/hoped for a minifigure scale UCS Gunship far more irritating than the set itself. Hindsight is 20/20. This is the first UCS to exceed both minifig scale and $200. The UCS Gunship exceeded that threshold by nearly 2x the cost—a surprising move, given the trepidation companies have had around producing prequel products. IMO it’s far more reasonable to think a UCS Gunship would keep with 20-years of precedence and be a more detailed, more sophisticated take on the ship at “minifigure scale”. Anyways, ship looks good. Put me on the fence (for buying) for now. I’m looking forward to the reveal tomorrow. -

Orange triangles (rather than yellow) on the sides of the ship? Orange display plaque? Orange technic display stand? Orange box art (instead of black) for Geonosis? There are plenty of possibilities. I don’t believe Lego would switch the primary accent color from dark red to orange. If they do, the response would be legitimate & not another bingo card item. -

Yeah, basically this. Also, Clones are Clones (mostly) (it’d be similar to the OG 7655) so it’s still army building. After all, the additions would be needed for anybody wanting to recreate the ultimate army shot from the first episode. -
