Hopefully we get a brick-built Giganta soon. Ideally in a set with Wonder Woman's invisible jet, Wonder Woman, Donna Troy and perhaps Steve Trevor? I'd happily swap Trevor for Cassie Sandsmark or Artemis.

The Creator "Modular" Pastry / Sweet Shop is terrible. But, the Creator Pirates Rollercoaster is pretty awesome looking. It's hard to believe that both builds are under the same "Creator" banner.
-
Very nice. I like how it is a "traditional" building which has been tastefully renovated with a modern, large glass pane store on the ground floor.
-
Extremely impressive. Is it based on a read building? I'm curious about the glass office tower on the right hand side.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Agent 86 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I personally prefer larger exteriors, with more minimal ... "suggestive" interiors. The Green Grocer is pretty much the perfect amount of balance for me. The lower floor is most detailed, due to the large windows which easily allow you to see the contents of the grocer. The upper floors are simply suggestive of the purpose of the apartment. Basically, once built, I never really see the "interior" ever again, except through the windows. So, the detailed interiors are ... "wasted" on me. And I generally find innovative details for the façade / exterior to be more interesting than a well-built pool / snooker table, ping pong table, refrigerator, ceiling fan, grandfather clock, etc. -
That's your first MOC? Wow. I think it's awesome! Especially given that you set yourself such a big restriction by only using parts from those three Creator sets. I'm particularly impressed by all of the little details in the façade.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

I also agree with this observation. The current Creator "Modular" buildings are extremely disappointing, even as "parts packs". -
I completely agree. It basically seems to be a few plates, a set of stairs, a big, curved window and a door. So very different from the incredible Creator buildings of old!

An interesting blend of traditional Asian and European / Medieval elements. I really like it.- 15 replies

I do favour the traditional, brown building. But, it's an interesting juxtaposition and one that is pretty common to see in many buildings where modern designs sit alongside older buildings. It's very well done! And I like the subtle "dentist and candy shop" story.
-
I think it's an incredibly grand, imposing and detailed building. Very well done!

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Sadly (for me), they were all released during my Dark Ages. The only one I managed to grab was Family House (31012). I wish they'd make more "Creator" houses / residential buildings like they use to. -

Thanks for ALL of your links to various sources of inspiration. I've got quite a backlog of design ideas now! I'm just lacking the requisite skills to actually put them into practice as I'm quite the amateur MODer / MOCer. -
Very nice. So much to enjoy in this MOC.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Agent 86 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I have and enjoy all of these sets. They make for nice size variance with the Modulars (or can be combined to make smaller Modulars). It's a shame that Lego has stopped making this style of Creator buildings in favour of the (confusingly named) "Modular" Creator sets, which are open-backed, relatively small and predominantly consist of pre-built wall sections which can be re-arranged in a "modular" fashion. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Wow. Some great discussion going on in this thread. And some VERY inspirational 16-wide MOC Modulars as well! I would be very happy with a second, 16-wide Modular being released each year. I would also be happy if, somewhat similar to the Ninjago Movie line, Lego embraced the "Modular" standard for some of their other lines and gave us things like a Modular Sanctum Sanctorum, Wayne Manor, Avengers Mansion, Hall of Justice, Xavier's School, Baxter Building, (scaled-down) Daily Planet, (scaled down) Daily Bugle, etc. They seem to be slowly edging in that direction with the recently revealed Jurassic World mansion and Sanctum Sanctorum / Pizzeria, but they're purely facades. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Agent 86 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Yes, very much so! I know that others just buy multiples of existing Modulars to build a collection of parts for MOCs, but I'd happily buy a bricks, roof tiles, windows and doors assortment as a starting point for my own MOC. At the very least, I wish the "Classic" boxes came with FAR less colour variety (e.g. only three or four colours instead of 15+) and that Lego would start selling the old "doors and windows" "roof tiles" and "garden" packs again. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

So ... have we all moved away from thinking that the hotel comment could have been a hint at a re-release of Cafe Corner, albeit with modifications due to part unavailability? I thought that was the prevalent theory / rumour for a while? -
If we can get a regular "mansion" in Jurassic World and Dr Strange's mansion in Infinity War, even though both are pretty much just facades, surely we can get a Wayne Manor. Plenty of Bat-villains have discovered Batman's identity and "invaded" Wayne Manor over the years - that's a pretty simple "storyline" for any Wayne Manor set.
-
As others have noted, from the (fuzzy) photo - it looks more like the so-called "Modular" Creator houses and buildings (i.e. a collection of pre-built walls and ceilings which can be rearranged for different builds). It appears to have an open-back and minimal bricks - instead mainly consisting of large doors, windows and stairs.
-
I’m not a fan of the pastry shop (although, I thought it looked like an ice cream store from the photo). It seems very unsubstantial - a few window frames, door and stairs. There doesn’t appear to be any real walls or design. It’s a major step down even from the smaller Creator Grocery Store and Toy Shop. Maybe clearer pictures will reveal a more interesting design. The yacht doesn’t look too bad. And the Creator tree house must be a best seller to see so many variants!
-
Same! But, do we have a detailed description for this set yet? The only one I read was from the Jurassic Park / World fan site and they sounded less than impressed with the set.

Very nice. I like how it appears as though it's a singular design (i.e. design and built to look like that instead of looking like an older building which was given an Art Deco inspired partial makeover at a later stage in life). I really like how the curved design is mirrored on the upper floors. I think a little more colour variation in the first two upper floors, perhaps the windowsills or the protruding architraves in white or another colour, would be more visually interesting.
