That would have been great - especially for fans who don't have access to PAB walls! I'd be very interested in solid colour packs with building elements (roof tiles, doors and windows) and just a variety of bricks.
-
That's the kind of Creator buildings which I like to see! Or, even better, larger buildings like the Bike Shop and Café and the older Creator houses.

Thanks. I'm also disappointed with these. I don't really see how different they are to the standard Classic boxes which are always available. I guess there is a greater variety of parts and minifigures, but otherwise these don't seem to be a particularly useful or needed addition to Lego's products. And they certainly don't seem to celebrate the anniversary in any meaningful way.

Very interesting. Some of these (e.g. Mission to Mars and Ocean's Bottom) seem to be quite ... "specific". I guess they include special elements relevant to the general "theme" (e.g. Mission to Mars has space elements and Ocean's Bottom has underwater / oceanic / aquatic elements). I look forward to seeing these revealed.

All signs indicate that the new "Modular" sets, with the interchangeable sections and City-style open backs, are the new Creator style for residential and commercial buildings. I'm also sorely disappointed by the change to the "Modular" sets in Creator.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Agent 86 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I understand that, but it’s a bit of a move away from the more ... classical / traditional architecture of the other Modulars, with the limited exception of the Palace Cinema which still reads as potentially 20s or 30s to me. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, although I do wish they’d finished the “town” in the other style first. Then again, I’m sure everyone has a different idea about what buildings would be necessary to complete the Modular Main Street (e.g. police station, hospital, library, museum, school, post office, apartment building, etc). -

Wow. Jim’s Diner and Gym (?) looks pretty interesting. If real, it seems to represent a new direction for the Modular line, embracing more modern designs, unique faces and moving away from some of the Modular staples (e.g. clearly delineated floors). It’s certainly not what I was hoping for, but it’s a very interesting build with what appear to be a number of innovative techniques. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

I strongly agree. It was great that the earlier houses and sets like the Creator Bike Shop and Cafe were able to be modified, somewhat easily, into smaller (16 wide) Modular buildings either only with the included pieces or by buying two or more of the sets. The new "Modular" houses, even when purchased in multiple, would require a lot of additional pieces to come close to a smaller Modular building. Lego has really reduced the potential for fans to (easily) add to their Modular street / city block. Lego is also missing the consumer market for the "middle ground" between the more expensive Modulars and the new, smaller Creator houses. There is now no mid-range price point for residential or commercial / business builds. Of course, Lego could rectify this by offering both a 32 wide AND a smaller 16 wide Modular each year! But, that's probably not going to happen. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

I agree. I wish the entire structure had been a bank. As it is, they had to "fudge" the second floor by assuming that the bank purchased the second floor of the neighbouring building at some point in time to expand their offices. When it comes to a single Modular being comprised of more than one building, only the Pet Shop / Townhouse has got the right balance in my mind. The Detective's Office is a bizarre mishmash of different buildings (especially the oddity of the kitchen) and although Assembly Square is something of an improvement, it's a little too OTT for me. The expanded baseplate obviously helped Assembly Square quite a lot too. -
Interesting. Are they only being released in "classic" colours (e.g. red, blue, white and yellow)? Or is there some other point of differentiation from the standard Creator boxes of assorted bricks?

Awesome Ninjago City MOD Lego Conductor. I like the look of what you’ve done to fit the Ninja City into a more standard Modular build, while still retaining the original distinctive elements. -
Argh! So far away! The first series seemed to be designed with at least one more series in mind (i.e. a number of incomplete groups) and the first series also seemed to be a success (at least in Australia where it sold really well). Hopefully we will see a second series eventually.

Very cool. I wish Lego would do something similar for Wayne Manor.

The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion
Agent 86 replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
I'm disappointed with the Joker Manor. I thought that Ninjago City was an indication of future Modular-esque builds for various licensed themes. Instead, Joker Manor is just another open-back / Lego City-esque design. And I'm not a fan of the Joker elements. I understand why they went with the Joker Manor - it fits the "over the top" / "extreme" aesthetic of the other TLBM sets and it's arguably more appealing to children, but I'm not sure how many kids will be receiving such an expensive set (then again, the same argument could be made for Ninjago City). The interior is also an odd mix of "Wayne Manor" scenes and "Joker Manor" scenes which seems conflicting to me. Anyway, it's money saved for me. And I guess there is still the potential for a Modular-esque Wayne Manor at some point in the future. -
I very strongly agree! It would be great to see more female superheroes (and supervillains) released in minifigure (as opposed to minidoll) form. And I'd happily accept some re-releases of prior characters, especially since they all have a wide assortment of costumes to choose from for alternate releases.

Very nice. The exterior has some very, very interesting details. Are there any more pictures? Is there a history behind the second, thinner building before it was renovated to become the stairway for the first, larger building? How did the original occupants of the "vintage" flat access their home? Was there an exterior staircase at the back of the building?

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

I wouldn't mind a post office. I'm not crazy about the inclusion of a vehicle, but it does fit with the building. The MOC Modular Post Office on this page looks pretty good: http://bricksetforum.com/discussion/21092/modular-building-revamp -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Agent 86 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I'm hoping that the next Modular is a single commercial or governmental building (i.e. not a combination of two or more different businesses / enterprises like the Brick Bank and Laundry, the Detective's Office, Pub, Barber and Kitchen or Assembly Square with its many businesses). I'd be happy to see a police station, hospital, museum, library, apartment building or school. I think they all, despite being a single building, offer "story" potential for Lego since that appears to be their new focus for the Modular series. -
That is awesome. And crazy! But, so very awesome.

The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion

The Justice League Anniversary Party is probably the only set I will grab. The catalogues don't include D2C releases do they? I'm guessing that is why there is no sign of the heavily rumoured D2C for TLBM? -
I don't like the new open back, "Modular" approach to Creator buildings, so the Winter Lodge and Funhouse don't appeal to me. But, that Surfer Van is pretty cool.
-
That's beautiful - inside and out. But, particularly the incredibly detailed exterior.
-
Oh well. Maybe a hospital / medical theme for Lego City in 2019! It did seem unlikely that Lego City would get a hospital so soon after Lego Friends released one.

Woo hoo! Lego Voltron. How very awesome. I hope that it's nice and stable when transforming and when playing in lion form or robot / Voltron form. -
The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion
Agent 86 replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
I'd be happy if they got creative with Wayne Manor and made it more like the old Kenner Wayne Manor playset for action figures where it opened in the middle and "half" of it was Wayne Manor and the other half was the Batcave. So, sort of like the Monster Fighters Haunted House, except instead of simply ending up with two halves of the "house", one half would be the interior of Wayne Manor and the other half would be the Batcave. I know it wouldn't be screen accurate and they'd have to get creatively with blocking up the windows on the "Batcave" side, but I think it would offer the most playability. Then again, as it's a D2C and likely to be expensive, they're probably not too worried about aiming it towards children. As such, perhaps they'll just go ALL Wayne Manor, with simply a small secret entrance to the Batcave.
