  1. I presume so, although the third floor apartment (?) would have a missing fourth wall since the café is two storeys and the pet shop is three storeys.
  2. I’m looking forward to seeing better images of the Cafe and Pet Shop and the UFO ride. I am encouraged by the residential building - it seems to still adopt the “modularity” of the more recent ones, but with plenty of more detail. The modern pet shop / skyscraper side looks interesting, although the more classic architecture of the cafe appeals to me more.
  3. I like the Burton-esque Batmobile, although I wish it had room for two in the cockpit. The rest of the wave ... not so much.
  4. Very nice! I like the double height library and cafeteria. What's the room with the bowl of fruit and cupboard / toilet (?) accessed via the office on the second floor? The staff break room?
  5. I'm very happy with the second Disney CMF series. Yes, there are some obvious "headliners" missing. But, that just makes me hopeful that Lego and Disney see the Disney CMF series as a long-term investment and we'll eventually get the likes of Goofy and Pluto to round out the "core" gang of Mickey's friends (maybe Horace, Clarabelle and Pete too). Scrooge McDuck, Hewey, Louie and Dewey and Chip and Dale are easily my favourites. The others are all great as well, although I would have much preferred Elastigirl to Edna. And I wish Lego had a proper "walking cane" piece for Uncle Scrooge. And they could have squeezed in Rajah (or at least Abu or Iago) instead of a random bird with Jasmine! The black and white Mickey and Minnie Mouse make it extremely easy to pass on the Steamboat Willie set. I'm not sure what Lego and Disney were thinking by including them in the CMF series. Sure, they're missing the chrome paint, but it certainly makes the Steamboat Willie set less appealing in my eyes. I wonder if the Ducktales / Disney Afternoon "focus" of the second Disney CMF series could be some kind of indication as to the upcoming D2C? I can't think of anything obvious, apart from Scrooge's money bin. And given the triplets are all repaints, that's an easy explanation for why the series is Ducktales heavy (although we're obviously still missing some core characters like Webby, Launchpad, Gizmo Duck, Magica DeSpell, Flintheart Glomgold, Ma Beagle and the Beagle Boys, etc).
  6. Um. No. I still love it. And, one day, when I'm rich and have plenty of time to spare, it will be the centrepiece of a theme park display (along with all of the Creator Expert fairground builds).
  7. That is very cool. I must admit, I've always been a little dubious about the prospect of a Modular Lego store - I just didn't think it would work. But, Leicester Square proves me wrong. This is a Modular which I'd be pretty happy to add to my town. And a great way to add an iconic "Lego" store to the collection.
  8. It's quite lovely, but way too expensive ($130 AUD) for me! Especially when, as a Disney fan, I'm also looking to buy the second Disney CMF series and whatever the rumoured, accompanying D2C is.
  9. What a great pair of buildings! The facades are really beautiful - all of the "curved" elements make the buildings really unique (and must have been a creative challenge to develop from Lego).
  10. I don't particularly like the corner Modulars. I don't particularly like mixed-use Modulars. I really don't like the forced "story-telling" aspects of some Modulars. And I'm not a major fan of Modulars with cars (and with precious space being taken up for car parking). But, this is incredible! I would be extremely happy if this was an official Modular. There is a great amount of detail, without it being cluttered. The police station has everything one would expect, but on a relatively small footprint - it's very impressive. And there are some wonderful mini-builds and other detail touches throughout the interior. The façade on both buildings is superb. A great mix of colours and a number of interesting architectural details, without being overwhelming or too "busy". Everything looks "natural" (i.e. it could be found on a real building). I really can't praise this enough. If and when the instructions are made available on Rebrickable, I think this will be the first ever build where I spend the time and money necessary trying to Bricklink all of the necessary pieces to build it. Well done! To me this is something realty special and it far outclasses a number of the official Modulars in my personal opinion.
  11. It looks great! I haven't seen Lego Movie 2 yet (it hasn't been released in my country), but is the "Modularised" design based on how the house actually appears in the movie? Or just an expansion of the design in the set?
  12. I'll have to wait and see the final set before I decide. As much as I want to encourage Lego to make more adult-oriented / mature "Disney" themed sets, this one doesn't really appeal to me. I guess it could perhaps be refashioned into a large fountain in a theme park setting (similar to the Steamboat Willie fountain at the entrance to Shanghai Disneyland)?
  13. If the next Disney D2C is the Haunted Mansion, I wonder if it will use the same mobile phone technology for the “ghosts”?
  14. Oh, me too! I didn't like the inconsistent baseplate sizes, etc (although, in hindsight, I was pretty lucky to get as many baseplates as I did since they're included much less frequently these days). It will be interesting to see whether the upcoming Creator Pet Shop and Café is more closely aligned to the Park Street Townhouse style of building (i.e. fully enclosable and needs to be dismantled to be re-built) or whether it is akin to the more recent "modular" open-back houses with the swappable / interchangeable wall panels / modules.
  15. That's an unexpectedly lovely colour combination! What's on the third floor? And is there anything in the attic? Is that a working elevator (with the glass door)? And what is it with Lego minifigures that their toilet doors have glass windows! There are some odd cultural habits in Lego City.
  16. Ah. Too true. As much as I LOVE the Creator residential and commercial buildings, I couldn't bring myself to buy any of those. The "modular" system didn't appeal to be and the "combined" models were too fantastical for me (i.e. doors all over the place, basketball hoops on the third storey, etc). I was looking forward to seeing the upcoming "Townhouse and Pet Store", but with the rumours that it continues the "modular" system, I'm setting my expectations low. Still, with the piece count, I'm hopeful that even if it was designed for the "modular" system, it will be capable of being modified into a more "traditional" Creator building. I guess it depends whether it mainly consists of a lot of hollow wall "chunks", "pillars" and large windows (I.e. similar to the recent City Hospital) or whether there are plenty of bricks.
  17. I'm surprised that Lego doesn't already do this. They seem to ... dip their toes into the water every now and again (e.g. the Sanctum Sanctorun), but there is no consistency. It would make sense to me for Lego City, Friends and Creator (and even superhero) commercial and residential buildings to be built to a combinable / interchangeable standard. I guess, ultimately, children probably don't care too much about their buildings being consistent and fitting together elegantly, so it's not something that Lego would invest the extra time and resources into developing and maintaining for their various lines which are directed towards children.
  18. I hope not! But, the current "trend" does appear to be to combine multiple purposes to highlight the potential "story" and "playability" with the Modulars (although I would strongly argue that there are plenty of "story" possibilities with a police station, hospital, school, museum, court house, library, etc).
  19. Thanks for the additional information. That's extremely disappointing if true. I thought they were returning to the "Bike Shop and Café" style Creator buildings.
  20. I'm looking forward to seeing the Creator Townhouse and Pet Shop (and Café?) and the Creator Carousel. The alternate designs for both, especially the bank and ferris wheel are also interesting.
  21. Interesting. The black and white Minnie Mouse could reasonably be "at home" in a Haunted Mansion set, in CMF Series 2 (as a companion / additional figure for the Haunted Mansion) or even the Steamboat Willie Ideas set. I look forward to hearing more about this rumoured Haunted Mansion. I wonder if it will include an actual track system with Doom Buggies or whether it will be similar to the "Haunted House" and have vignettes of the various scenes from the ride (e.g. conservatory, séance room, grand hall / ballroom, attic, etc). I suspect the latter, based on how the Disney Castle included various rooms for different films, but I'm not sure what approach Lego and Disney will take with the Haunted Mansion. And since they're so different, I wonder if they're going with Disneyland's white, weatherboard mansion or Disney World's red brick mansion? I'm guessing Disney World's red brick mansion to compliment Disney Castle?
  22. Gorgeous! I would proudly display that Modular as part of my Lego City. It's a really beautiful building, with a logical and creative interior too.
  23. I'm not a fan of garden centres, but this is a lovely build. In particular, the façade has numerous features to capture the eye, but it doesn't look overly cluttered or "busy". It's very impressive how you've melded two different architectural styles and so many brick built details, but in such a complimentary and aesthetically pleasing way.
  24. Ooooh. This sounds intriguing. It's a decent brick count for a Lego City building. Two (or maybe three) sets might be enough for a small, one-story, 16-wide Modular-esque building. I also like the sound of "People at the Funfair". I wonder if "Central Garage" has been designed to work with the new Modular? Could it be another pick-up truck? Or something to add to the interior of the workshop? It would be interesting to see Lego create complimentary sets in Lego City for the Modular line. [NB: Ignore that speculation - I now see that it is a Juniors set, so obviously not deliberately related to the Modular in any way]
  25. This sounds VERY promising! Ever so slightly less bricks than the Creator Bike Shop and Café. I don't love the subject matter since we have a Modular Pet Shop and a number of cafes and eateries, but it should be easy enough to modify the interiors into different businesses. I'm really looking forward to the reveal of this set! P.S. Thanks for the information Calunca.
