[ESL - FB1] Friday night in the Drunken Angel
Captain Dee replied to Phadeout's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Excellent interior scene with lots of good minifigs, poses, and expressions. The little stage area looks great and the short story is nice as well. Keep it up. But only two comments?? -
Funny little story, and a well-illustrated daydream at that. The deck detailing, minifig posing and forced perspective all look great. Good to see you building here again.

[ESL – MTF] The Amazing Amadeus and his One-Man Band
Captain Dee replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Ok... so Amadeus is the monkey, eh? Neat little build and funny concept. The instruments are nice, especially the cymbols, and Ludwig's expression is great. Mozart and Beethoven...?? -
The architecture and overall stately appearance give this the look of "old money." It's a fine house, and while the unconventional colors aren't really my thing, they work well enough. The modular design is nice and the interior details are good. The story is pretty good too; I look forward to seeing where it goes from here. Keep it up.

[MRCA Feb2016-ESL] Turned back to port....
Captain Dee replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Creative way to show the results. The ship looks neat again and the wake is well represented, and the dark and lowering sky gives it a dreadful mood. The two minifigs add a little intrigue as well.- 14 replies

[SR - MCRA] Feb '16 - Nothing of note
Captain Dee replied to Kwatchi's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Clever story and neat build to go with it. That interior looks great and the dialogue is well written. Speaking of which, you "wrote him out of the story" alright. Just like the pros, eh? Keep it up. -
This is perhaps the most clever of all the entries so far... But in all seriousness it's a very nice little build and a unique take on the challenge. It's simple but effective. Good work.

[ESL - MTF] Is Gold an Instrument?
Captain Dee replied to Legostone's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Beautiful organ design. The part usage is brilliant. Something this good deserves a nice build to accomodate it; pity the challenge doesn't allow a little more space. Good work - I can hear the music playing. -
[ESL - MTF] Ballad Blastin' Bardo Beach
Captain Dee replied to gedren_y's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Interesting take on the musical challenge. I like the towering height; it really enhances the scale of these small builds. The details are nice overall but the pics let the presentation down a bit unfortunately. Otherwise good work. -
[COR -CH2B] I have no voice, and I must scream...
Captain Dee replied to CelesAurivern's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Excellent storytelling and good job with the action-packed jungle scene. The macabre in this case seems perfectly realistic. The posing and expressions are excellent. Good work. -
[OL - MCRA] Exterminate!
Captain Dee replied to Kolonialbeamter's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Those are some fantastic micro ships, and this design approach (and scale) would be an excellent way of depicting a fleet without losing all the distinguishing characteristics of the individual vessels, unlike many of the smaller micro designs. The ocean view looks perfect. Good work.- 11 replies

A visit to Arlinsport [COR - MCRA]
Captain Dee replied to BrickOn's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Neat little build. The railings are really nice and the water looks good. I like the fact that the facade is detailed inside and out, which is unusual on builds like this. That's a good collection of minifigs for the amount of space. Keep it up. -
[SR - FB1] - March '16 - Heldenberg Bakery and Supply
Captain Dee replied to Kwatchi's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
This is a fairly basic bakery design, but it turned out really good. The hearth is excellent and the oven looks great for the time period. I like the wall design - nothing fancy, but making good use of simple colors and components. The various accessories are nice, especially the platter of dough. Good work all around. -
[SR - FB2] - March '16 - Dugay's Hut
Captain Dee replied to Kwatchi's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Neat build. The ramshackle hut looks good, the layered terrain is nicely represented, and the web piece as a net is brilliant. (I might just steal the idea...) I'm glad to see the CMF Prospector hat put to good use in this theme; it seems a natural fit for certain environments and this is one of them. The streamer of fish swinging in the breeze is a neat feature as well. Keep it up. -
[ESL-FB2] Banana Boat
Captain Dee replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Interesting and funky little vessel. I really like the second pic; the big sail hanging limp reminds me of illustrations of some of the really old sailing ships. The banana/monkey theme is expected of course, and results in a nicely humorous little build. The lantern is neat, but I hope it's secured well on that long rod. Keep it up.- 16 replies

[SR - March FB 2] Fort Crimson, Haven
Captain Dee replied to kaiju's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Whoa... that is one well-armed fort. And yes, it looks infinitely better in rendered form. The design is fairly basic, and I doubt they'd really need that many cannons, but it looks pretty good as it is. Keep it up.- 5 replies

[OL - FB2] Visiting Aludra
Captain Dee replied to robinnilsson403's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I like the technique used to depict the building, and other than the lower beams of the rafters protruding a little too far the roof looks great. The built-up base is nice and the story sounds promising. I had never even heard of "Wheel of Time"... -
This fort meets the requirements of the challenge perfectly. It's wonderfully detailed and looks like it would be a lot of fun to play with. The different structures and scattered vegetation look great and I like how it's built up on the rocks. The story is nice as well. Good work.

[COR-FB2] Ship: the "Corland Provider"
Captain Dee replied to Brickwolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I always thought those particular prefab hull parts looked cartoonish, but this turned out reasonably well. A little more detailing of the hull and possibly the rigging would certainly help but it's a decent vessel nonetheless. -
I like the way this turned out. It looks appropriate for such a young settlement. The level of activity is nice and all the details add up to a busy little scene. Keep it up.

So the clueless clueboats invented the semaphore tower, huh? That's not what the Corrington history books teach... I just hope they have some morion helmets on hand because otherwise they'll mostly be knocking one another out every time they try to rotate the signal arms! Neat idea for a build. I can only think of a few other Lego semaphore towers, and I really like seeing less-common material. It looks pretty good and the building is nice. That useless cook minifig actually doesn't look too bad the way you present him. And the parting shot of the charging cavalry looks great. But that "outcome" sounds like more rabid propaganda... Corries everywhere are laughing... Good work.

Dee Shipyards of the Empire of Corrington
Captain Dee replied to Captain Dee's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Elostirion and Dzoni90, Thanks. You both use the word "amazing" which might be overly generous. Shipbuilding depictions interest me greatly, and partly because it's such a rare thing in Lego. There are thousands of completed ships sailing the online seas, but very few shipyards showing them being built. If there were lots of Lego shipyards to pick from this might just be average at best. Because there are so many of them, a ship has to be really great to prompt this kind of response, and I don't think you'd be quite so excited if this was common material. But I'm glad you like it all the same. -
[ESL-FB1] Please don't take it apart
Captain Dee replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Hey... it's the Eslandorado Fortress!! It looks great, and you're not kidding about the play features with that modular design. I like the overall design and colorscheme, and it would compliment the classic sets well. Good work. The question remains: is KB the "some guy" and you the "strange guy" or vice versa?- 21 replies
