Neat little scene. With all the clutter, is there anything that he doesn't have going on? Establishing this Department of Science is a good idea, and hopefully some good material will come from it.

[COR-FB2] The Flask and Flagon (Port Raleigh)
Captain Dee replied to CelesAurivern's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Nice tavern. I really like the interior-only technique for scenes like this. The level of detail really forces the viewer to spend some time observing everything, which is how I measure success with tavern scenes. Yes, it looks very orderly - but what can you expect when the place is full of Corrie soldiers? Good work.- 17 replies

[COR - Feb MRCA] Saved by Dark Lightning
Captain Dee replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Those micro vessels are nice, and filling the whole ocean area with the trans parts at such a low viewing angle gives this a very good and unusual perspective for a micro build. The land mass looks nice too, and reworking the pics has improved the presentation from the original. Keep it up. -
Interesting and humorous twist on the concept. The classic yellow sand is nicely textured and doesn't look half bad. The orange background definitely warms the mood and seems more appropriate than cool blue for a scene in this type of environment. The substitution for KB's torso is pretty good, retaining enough of the look to be recognizable. I would say keep it up but that would require more people going in the red...

[Cor - FB2 March -Ship] A mysterious little boat
Captain Dee replied to BrickOn's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
This boat looks cartoonish and must surely be fun to play with. It reminds me of the caricature-type ship drawings from a children's book about exploration at sea. It's not overly realistic as a result but is a neat little vessel anyway. Keep it up. -
It's interesting to see another use of that elaborate native headgear. It's very creative, as are the instruments. Neat idea for an entry.

[OL-FB1] KB's House in Breshaun
Captain Dee replied to Capn Frank's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Nice house. The colors are great, especially the dark blue roof, and the use of the slope bricks in the same color as the timbers is neat. The accessible interior is fine as well; pity KB is in poor shape (again...) but he seems to be enjoying it anyway. Keep it up. -
[ESL-FB] A young lawyer moves to the islands
Captain Dee replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Neat little house. The panels look pretty good and the roof is nice, although the angling of some of the tiles is pretty sharp. The overall design is good but the light showing through the upper windows is distracting. But it's a fine little residence and looks great for the time period. -
Sea Rats: Sign-up and Discussion

Welcome aboard Jacob/Captain Morgan (from one of those red fellows...) I think you'll be a fine fit to the world of BoBS. -
[ESL - FB] A matter of mayor concern
Captain Dee replied to Elostirion's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Nice office! I like that cutout wall technique and the various furniture is good (although the green chair looks a bit modern perhaps). The painting is really good too and the way you've framed it looks great. Good work and congrats on the new position.- 12 replies

[SR-MRCA] White Skull Saves Le Dindon
Captain Dee replied to dr_spock's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
The "artist rendition" is pretty clever. But it's a good view for this type of scene. The other scene illustrates its story nicely as well. Keep it up. -
[Cor - FB1 March - Ship 2F] The Morning Rose
Captain Dee replied to BrickOn's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Nice cutter. The brickbuilt hull and the colorscheme both look nice. I see some tips have already been given on the rigging, but it looks pretty good as it is. I like the smooth clean look of the deck and the turntable bases on the stern are neat. Good work. -
[ESL - FB2 - ship] Winds Beauty (3T2)
Captain Dee replied to Legostone's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Nice sloop. The hull looks great apart from the low window placement and I like the colorscheme. She looks ably equipped and the size comparison is nice. Keep it up. -
Neat little build. It reminds me of some of the stores at the local mall - open front, no windows. Are they really that casual about selling arms? The three different photographic arrangements are nice and I like the golden gates for a white-walled structure. The collection of arms is nice and the full armor standing in the corner is cool. I don't suppose there's much threat of the place being robbed... Good work.

[COR - MAR FB1] Angling for a Duel
Captain Dee replied to Fuzzy MacFuzz's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
First of all, this is a nice little build (well, for anyone who has the patience to go fishing that is... ) And the duel storyline sounds rather interesting. I join the others in awaiting the outcome. -
[ESL-FB3] Little Shop of Parrots
Captain Dee replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Humorous little shop, although based on some of your old builds I shouldn't be surprised at the subject matter. It may look a little bit modern thanks to the big parrot decorations but it's still a nice build. I really like the colorscheme. This Corry approves.- 24 replies

[ESL-FB4] Banana Shop
Captain Dee replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Neat little shop. The yellow arches over the windows seem perfect for a banana shop. The monkeys are cute too - how many of those designs have you done by now? I like the tiled roof and the minifigs are both quite nice (hey, any historic MOC that includes a period-correct well-dressed lady is a good MOC in my book...) Creative idea for a freebuild. This Corringtonian approves!- 17 replies

[COR - Mar FB1] The Lady Jacqueline
Captain Dee replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Beautiful xebec! Simply magnificent. The basic shape and colorscheme looks great, and I like the green and white on the stern - red would be better, sure, but it still looks good as it is. Nice job on the rigging and the smoothness of the decks. The crew looks great, but I have to ask - is the figurehead standard Lego, or something else? Good work and keep it up. -
[ESL-FB2] Department of Science, Elysabethtown
Captain Dee replied to TitusV's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
This is a lovely little build. The built-up floor is beautiful and the rest of the structure looks good as well. I especially like the way the microfigs change the outline of the gothic arch. The story is interesting too, and the connection to things already established is well noted. This should be an interesting thing to follow as it progresses.- 9 replies

[ESL-MTF] Bardo's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Captain Dee replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Wait... does Captain Cookie know about this?! Nice entry to the challenge. The band looks great and their instruments are good. I'm not entirely sold on the firefighter torso, but it doesn't look bad and happens to be one of the few classic non-Pirates-theme torsos that actually works in age-of-sail builds. (If I remember correctly you have a bunch of them; sadly I have only two...) The background/stage area looks nice and overall this promises to be a good performance. Which song are they singing/playing? Good work.- 16 replies

This portion made a fine centerpiece in your freebuild. I like the colors and the whole design is really nice, with neat features like the half-fence at the bottom. Where does Esmeralda's head come from? Good entry to the challenge.

Excellent! This amounts to a shipyard, minus the "yard" part of it. It puts my own WIP shipbuilding scene to shame with the highly realistic curvature of the two hulls. The little sawhorses are brilliant - such a simple design, but perfectly matched to the height of the minifigs. Usually I prefer smoother surfacing in Lego builds but with designs this good all the exposed studs don't bother me at all. Excellent work. And of course I realize that's not a little "fishing smack" sitting to port of the "Parakeet!"

[ESL-FB2] Opening the north forty
Captain Dee replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
This is a beautiful addition to the original and definitely makes the whole scene that much more impressive. The plowed ground looks really good, although I tempted to say I probably would've made the furrows a little more consistent (but I understand handling a plow behind a horse or ox was no easy task). The roadbed looks fabulous, and is more realistic than solid cobblestone. Good work. -
[Esl - MRCA Feb] : Apples for Belson
Captain Dee replied to Tezclatipoca's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Excellent scene! It's bustling with activity and the inclusion of a ship, building and pier mean you've hit all the high points. The minifigs and cargo fill out the scene really well and the marine animals clinging to the rocks are a neat feature. This is a really good MCRA result build. I hate to be critical, but some of these have been too simple and easily done for my tastes, which gives the impression that the builder was just chasing doubloons. Keep it up. -
Good story, and nice job with the different vessels. The raft in particular is splendid. The haphazard collection of pieces must surely have resulted in a terrifying ride. Keep it up.
