  1. Oh, the statements you can find on Eurobricks!! KB, you should get that printed on a bumper sticker and put it on your car. (The literal wording strikes me as funny, not the suggestive interpretation. Who gets mad at a banana? )
  2. Subject to approval?! Since when?! And here I was going to revive all those obtuse names the American Founding Fathers wouldn't let Thomas Jefferson use... Sounds good. Over and, uh, Roger. Uh, Roger and out. Out and under! 10-40! 4-10! Uh, bye!
  3. Whoa... now that is dedicated professionalism alright! But seriously, when you're a guard/soldier with no enemies to fight and no one to guard, and a crate of rum sitting under your feet, what can you do? Overall the build reminds me of a remake of some of the classic sets: small outpost, a cannon, a few men and their accessories, etc. It looks nice, and from the looks of things I'm guessing it would be a popular post. Good work and a fine challenge entry.
  4. Very nice scene. Both buildings look good except for the "missing window" in the top floor of the bakery. The bakery itself looks great and the warehouse is nicely detailed inside. You've got a lot going on all the way around. The slopes on the top of the pier look really neat and I like the color of the water. Good work with both the build and the story. I'm wondering the same thing...
  5. Lovely seaside house and beachscape, Captain Green Hair! (I still want to call you CRH... ) Those colors are beautiful, and while I don't normally like yellowed bricks they don't look bad in this setting. I really like all the arches and columns and that lovely roof. The interior is nice for something this size. But a cannon?! Wow. Now that's what I call home security! This has it all, really. It's well detailed all the way around and the ascending beach and trees look great. And the grey rowboat is a relatively rare piece. But isn't Bricknancy dressed a bit, well... scandalously for the age of sail? Drinking while boating can be dangerous - you might hit a wave, and spill your drink! Good work.
  6. This is a neat design and should translate to real bricks really well. Pity we can't see the inside though. One concern - the fire pit might be dangerously located considering all the wood structure around it. Otherwise this is fine for that setting.
  7. Very nice building and interesting story to go with it. The grey/dark brown/black colorscheme is good. It's all well textured, especially the walls. The interior looks pretty good too. Keep it up.
  8. "Rosetta" is nice. That's my nomination for #2. Thanks for the idea Titus.
  9. Hmmm... good point there. Okay, I withdraw my vote for "New Corrington." "Ballista" sounds cool but I'm not sure about naming an island that... We already have "Annetta" and the city of "Arlinsport"... What about some variation of "Rossa" (Italian for "red")?
  10. Welcome to Corrington ZaneKane! On the subject of island names: For #2 I vote for "New Corrington" "New Balondia" sounds too much like baloney and the last two are clearly ships' names, not land masses. For #10 I vote "Cocovia" And I oppose "Lalaland" although it's no worse than, say, Walla Walla, Washington.
  11. Nice story. I really like the pic of Erwin walking down the trail to the ocean. That's a nice setting. The micro "war games" are neat too. Keep it up.
  12. Then you did a little research. That's what I was getting at. It seems cannons were cast horizontally until at least the mid-1500s although it varied considerably from place to place. I can't determine when vertical casting was first done but it seemed to have taken over by the late-1500s/early-1600s. I like a researched build. Keep it up.
  13. Captain Braunsfeld, obviously some freebuilds weren't counted. Did you register them all with the webform? Regarding the third freebuild, 12 approvals falls in the 7-14 range which is worth 4 DBs (1-3 approvals = 2 DBs, 4-6 = 3, 7-14 = 4, 15-24 = 5, etc.) You should have (25+10+10)=45 for January and (10+10+4)=24 for February for a total of 69, not counting any MCRA yield if you participated or yield from licensed properties if you have any. Edit: And don't forget the license costs if you paid any.
  14. If we were at war then yes, privateering could be very lucrative... for all parties. But I think we'll be facing serious conflict if we just go "ship hunting." How much detail is wanted on the ships in question? I really liked Ska's "Dancing Dogfish" despite its basic design and construction. Edit: wrong ship name
  15. Indeed. Makes sense to me. But I suppose keeping it out of their hands means they can't turn right around and attack you with it...
  16. Thanks for mentioning this. That answers another question that I forgot to ask previously.
  17. Ah, yes, how did I miss that? Since the resources are handled differently for some reason i thought there might be some restrictions.
  18. Since when do Sea Rats buy things anyway? I thought your mentality was that any ship afloat was ripe for the pluckin'.
  19. I have a question I should've asked at the very beginning because the answer will determine my level of future participation. Do the mine rules apply to everyone or only to those individuals participating in gameplay? Can I set up an unlicensed mine freebuild wherever I want, with the understanding that it will remain unlicensed, and depict the following stages of activity in like manner, or is that whole process limited by the rules in the economics topic? Specifically I want to build an iron mine and limestone quarry, and then depict a start-to-finish process of a certain product. But I'm not interested in setting up a mine and realizing at the end of the month it's copper or something which would do me little good. If non-gameplay mines are subject to these rules I'll take the whole project to the other subforum...
  20. I'm generally with Bregir on all this. I don't like the thought of changing the classes/licenses because it's already complicated enough, and upgrading changes the whole nature of many of the ships. But if it's going to be done, I recommend going no more than 1 class higher. I'd like to do a warship; give me a chance to think about it. I'm already too busy...
  21. Begging your pardon, Don Isaac Montoya. What was intended as a light-hearted jab was apparently mistaken as an insult. Of course you are vastly superior company to that "infernal lubber" who shall remain unnamed, and unlike him, your business skills go unquestioned. Sir Dee is not a dueling man and nevers carries a sword after accidentally tripping the Governor and his wife into a fountain at a formal banquet. I offer this humble apology for your consideration. Sincerely, Sir Dee
  22. Oh come on. Don't be ridiculous. The Trumpkin has never been that obnoxious! Sorry, Bregir. I couldn't resist. You being such a dull tool and all... Hey, could I borrow...
  23. Very fast response to the MCRA news... and a good response at that. The partial pirate ship fills the story role very well, and the rest with the raft is pretty good. But seriously, they have very little time left out there... if someone doesn't come quick they're in trouble. Keep it up.
  24. Indeed! But to get the real meaning across it needs a hyphen, as in "Doub-loony."
