  1. There really is no "greatest of all time." It's all a matter of opinion. A better way of ranking would probably be to list all the sets and have people rank their top-10 or top-20 numerically, and the lowest total score after all votes are counted "wins." Yes, it would be tedious, but with enough people voting a reasonably accurate representation of preferences would be produced across the whole range of sets, and it would eliminate having a situation like this where one of the most iconic sailing ships of all (the BSB) is absent while the comparatively lowly Lagoon Lock-Up made it. But none of this really matters anyway. I think the particular format in use here works great for something like CMFs which are all just variations of the same basic concept, and not so great when there is significant variation in size, piece count, complexity etc like these 96 sets. But it will be interesting to see what the small number of voters selects as The GOAT.
  2. If this project is going to be extended, sometime within the next few hours would be a good time to make it official.
  3. Neat. I herd you were going all western... Those did turn out pretty well. The number and variety is impressive and I like your use of the big textured piece on the sides. Nice job.
  4. That is one impressive display! It's great to see those ships in such a setting. We'll done everyone.
  5. Beautiful microbuild, yet again! It looks spectacular, and would be a really good architecture set. You really captured the look.
  6. Fantastic microbuild. I would love to see this in real bricks, in person. The overall design and layout is beautiful. The star base is impressive, but I think it would look more natural if it depicted more of the surroundings - unless the surroundings are all other buildings, in which case the star makes sense. I also wondered about the story, but basically came to the same conclusion as Bregir: settling war debts. An explanation would be cool though. Good work.
  7. Fantastic job yet again! You have great talent, and a great backdrop too. I also like the way the ship is built up around the governor as he walks around. That in itself is impressive.
  8. Eldorado, of course. And the beautiful "old" IFS.
  9. IFS and Kahuka for me.
  10. Agreed. Well said. As much as I like CMFs, I had no idea this was happening until... Thanks to you both for posting.
  11. HOW have I missed this topic until now?! Incredible work throughout. I still haven't viewed all the prior series, but what I've seen looks fantastic. From this series the French Queen is phenomenal. (You see, I have a *cough* somewhat large collection of ladies in printed dresses, and she is beautiful. ) Where can I find her? I must have her... Wow... I'm impressed. Two thumbs up!
  12. I've scrapped the ideas. Pirates can be another bland remake, and forget the other one altogether. I'd rather build than discuss anyway.
  13. Aha... the tale continues! And it sounds interesting... Neat build. Love that raft and the overall clean look.
  14. Beautifully done with lots of good details, inside and out. I love that color scheme and the position by the pier looks great. And the minifigs look really good too, especially considering that it's a rendering. I live in the so-called "Moonshine Capital of the World" (look it up) and the remains of an '80s-era still can be found within walking distance of my house. A few illegal stills probably still operate, but legal micro-breweries are the latest rage. You've captured the basic look really well. Keep it up.
  15. That is one colorful, creative tower. It looks like the perfect play piece. And welcome to Eurobricks!
  16. Lagoon Lock-Up is such a classic... But I voted for the Advent Calendar. We need another! Every year! And sell it here in North America next time...
  17. Well... that's all a matter of opinion/personal interest. And this is about "wants," not "needs." Regarding movies vs books, I understand if a licensed theme is based strictly on the movie. But both my ideas were for non-licensed material, to allow TLG to design without those constraints. Besides, many licensed sets look only vaguely like the movie scenes, for piece count/price reasons. (Some are faithful designs, yes. Many aren't.) Treasure Island could be done very easily (in place of Pirates). Sleepy Hollow will never happen in specific "Legend of" form, so... I'll be quiet and go on.
  18. Just call me "Goldfinger." Given by @Phred after I said the same thing about one of my builds that used nearly a thousand gold parts.
  19. Why couldn't it be a small theme? I'm talking about the original story. The book. Not some movie nonsense, and especially not Tim Burton's version. I think any set(s) would have to include the chase at the end of the story, and that includes 2 characters only. For sets, I was thinking the school where Ichabod taught, the van Tassel estate (where Katrina lived), the old church, and the chase to the bridge. I don't think it would be possible to represent the original story with a single set, unless it was the ball at the van Tassel estate and the midnight chase rolled into one. Lego showed it could do creative pirate-theme stuff with PotC (unlike the same-old Pirates sets of late), and a design ethic like that is what I'm imagining here.
  20. Wow... that is impressive! Love that cobblestone technique, and the buildings look great, especially the big white one. Good selection of minifigs and everything looks really smooth and tidy. Good work.
  21. Lovely. You captured the overall look really well, especially considering the scale. Keep it up.
  22. Excellent scene. The machinery all looks great. The trees might be a little too uniform but they still look pretty good. And I like the activity going on. Good work.
  23. Fantastic. It doesn't even look like Lego at a glance. This would be a perfect set. I won't comment on every detail, but just spending a few minutes looking everything over, the one thing that really stands out is the lovely drill press in the back of the shop. Excellent work all around.
  24. Beautiful. The amount of details throughout is excellent and I like the near mirror-image design of the two buildings. The roofs and chimneys turned out well and the interiors are nice. My favorite detail is the use of the light yellow Belle Brickheadz printed curved slope/skirt pieces - I bought a few copies of the set just to do that very thing! Excellent work.
  25. Beautiful creation! And wonderful illustration of the concept. As soon as I saw the title I just had to check it out. The barn looks fantastic, especially considering dark grey isn't commonly used that way, and all the external details like the tipped rusty pump and tools fill out the scene nicely. The Bugatti looks great at that scale (I'm a bit of a motorhead too, and seeing that model in the title was part of the appeal) but it almost looks too perfect for a barn find. I envision it all dirty and rusty, but I assume you wanted it to be a very obvious focal point, and maybe the farmer had it covered up and cleaned it for the prospective buyers anyway. Fantastic build.
