LEGO Star Wars 2020 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Terrasher replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Did we already have leaks for the Tantive IV by this time last year? I know the first photo "leak" (or rather reveal) was during a convention. As for the Y-Wing, it was a pretty strange case where someone took a picture of it because the box was on a shelf in a LEGO Store. The May the 4th UCS is the only set I'm eagerly awaiting to leak. Who knows how long we will have to wait until we see a first picture or even set details? Do we already know what it is? Weren't there rumors of an A-Wing? -
Those water slide pieces are new, I believe. What else could TLG use them for? They are pretty big pieces to keep in just smaller sets. IIRC when the rollercoaster pieces were introduced, they were featured in Joker's Manor and the Expert Rollercoaster. New animals are always nice, but I wish TLG would also make them in the normal style without the unrealistic colours and huge eyes.

LEGO Monkie Kid 2020

So mechs and vehicles with oriental influence... How is this not a reskin of Ninjago? I too am hoping for more location-based sets, since the Chinese New Year sets are all very well designed. I'm also hoping for something with a fantasy theme but set in villages without lots of technology, like Avatar the Last Airbender and Naruto are. -
IMO Mario will only be available in one set, which is the one shown in the picture where all we see is the Pipe, Mario, 1 Goomba and the flag pole. That's the starter set (like the portal in Dimensions), and every other set is an add-on. With that one set, you have the starting point with the pipe, the end point with the flag pole, Mario, and a Goomba for extra playability. I honestly don't see why Mario would be in more than 1 set, since I think that second set would also need to include the pipe and the flag pole. I think it would be a better move for TLG to keep all the essential elements to build a course in one cheap set (I think one of the 30€ sets has something like 140 pieces), and exclude the most expensive element (Mario) from the other sets. EDIT: Oh, boy, yeah, I just saw that the 60€ set has only about 230 pieces and is the first one by number on the list. Is the Mario figure really that expensive?

Well, that looks terrible for AFOLs but fun for kids. My wallet is safe.

Interesting. Could a new fairground set be hiding in plain sight? I'd like to think that the Free fall tower that was discussed in 2018 (I think) was really pushed back to 2020, and that TLG hasn't abandoned this subtheme.

It wouldn't make sense not to have normal minifigures. If TLG made figures only in this blocky, screen style, the scale would be off with the blocks we see in the teaser, and the only pose-ability would be in the arms (I don't see how the legs or the head can move). I'm eager to see more pictures.
-
Oh, God, you're right. Now that I look at it, only the torso, mouth and eyes have that pixelated screen look. I don't know what to think anymore. This is so weirddddddddddd.
-
Stonewars mentions the cheapest set being 3.99€ and a blind bag. Super Mario CMF series coming soon? I'm in... If they're traditional-looking minifigures. They also mention the possibility of a digital component being included like with Hidden Side. Perhaps a Mario Maker style app where you actually build your level in real life and play it on your phone?
-
Is this a very early April Fools? I'd be interested in some Nintendo sets, but this is very unexpected! However, what in the world is wrong with that minifig? It looks like a cross between Minecraft and Might Beans. Can't they just be the traditional minifigure shape?
-
Just finished building the set. Pretty fun build and interesting techniques used to fill in the gaps around the diagonal front and back sections. It is, though, a bit more plain-looking than the other cars, but it's still a very pretty set. I find it looks best next to the Beetle. I never say this about any set, but I kind of wish it were a little bit smaller... Is it to scale with the other cars, more or less? Or should it be tinier?

[MOC] Canada Post Delivery Truck - LEGO Ideas
Terrasher replied to NickLafreniere's topic in LEGO Town
Love the SNOT work surrounding the front wheels. -
Just bought the Fiat and the Mustang. Might have to modify the Fiat's windscreen to look like the one on the MOC! I always thought TLG's Fiat's windscreen was too big.

Saw the reveal, couple of articles on Stonewars and Promobricks, and finally found the CAD price on Brickset. 130CAD... That's a bit of a worst case scenario... But I guess when you're ready to spend 120CAD on the set, another ten bucks isn't that big a deal... Is it...? Is it...? Will probably still get it on March 1st, since the car has grown on me and I love the colour TLG chose. I'd like to see a top-down view, though, to have a clear look at that change in width along the car.
-
Awesome! Thank you for this pic. Also, the first pic just confirmed what I was hoping for: The car is 12 wide at the front and 14 wide in the middle, which gives it a more interesting shape than just a rectangle. I might be picking this one up on Sunday!
-
Is this your picture? I really want to believe it's light yellow instead of normal yellow, but the colours on the box look so much like the Caterham, and the lighting in the picture makes everything look very bright. EDIT: Upon a closer look, the normal yellow from the tiny technic pieces looks different from that of the rest of the car. Woohoo!

Just found the Facebook announcement of the event and the cancellation notice due to the outbreak. It'll just be an online event instead of a physical one at the Store. They will livestreaming and interviewing the designer of the set.
-
Do you know to when it was reschedulded? I don't imagine TLG making the announcement at Turin anytime soon, if it's due to coronavirus concerns. But the set is due to be released March 1st, so perhaps it'll be an online-only announcement on saturday?
-
A March 1st release? That's in less than a week. Might a press release come in the next couple of days?

LEGO Star Wars 2020 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

70$? So probably 90CAD for 519? If D-O looks lonely now on the box art, it'll look even lonelier on the shelves. -
Are there any rumors for a Fairground set being released this year? There wasn't one last year, and I hope TLG doesn't put an end to one of their most colorful and refreshing Expert subthemes.

I was wondering about that... Is it really cool yellow or just normal yellow like the Caterham?
-
Not what I hoped for, but what I was expecting. It will be interesting to have another prequel UCS after so long. I hope the designers knock this one out of the park.
