  1. So, the NES was teased and revealed around this point of the month back in July. For those hoping for a middle-of-the-month DA reveal, these four upcoming days would be the perfect time for TLG to show us something. I haven't compared with past D2C reveals to see how many of them were revealed or teased around the 13th-14th-15th of the month, but it feels like the majority of them have been following that schedule, with a couple of exceptions.
  2. Outstanding detail and moulds on these minifigures. I'm just waiting on DA and haven't purchased any system-scale Harry Potter sets yet, but this CMF makes me want to pick up a couple of figs to display on their own! That's indeed trans-red detailing on the Sword of Griffindor, right? Not printing? Lovely details all around.
  3. Hahahaha, nope. Just agreeing with the point of LEGO dropping the ball with Star Wars recently.
  4. Really? By a reliable source? Hot dang, I've gone from careful anticipation to full-blown excitement. These will be three long months for LEGO leaks and rumors. I'm hoping for 700CAD at best and 800CAD at most.
  5. Brickfanatics says there will be a CMF about the Looney Toons in 2021. No idea if the website or their source is reliable. I guess the Looney Toons would be fun, but it would be strange to have a CMF about them without any sets to put them in. Unless...
  6. I really hope this rumor is true, and I hope the ppp is about the same as the other Landmark sets, which is around 7.5 cents CAD, at worst. I'd drop 700CAD for a 9000-piece Colosseum, but if the 700€ rumor is true and we end up with a 900 - 1k CAD price tag, it might just have to wait in the store for a long while. 900CAD for a 9000-piece set that I assume will have a ton of 1x1s would be ridiculous, though. That'd put it at 10 cents / piece. Big Ben, Taj and the Bridge all hover around 7 or 7.7 cents. Looking forward to more info, but it's best to forget about this for a while IMO. I don't want to be on the edge of my seat eternally until November or mid October waiting for more leaks or more info like with the Diagon Alley...
  7. I'd probably wait until TLG releases Gringotts before considering purchasing DA. I've only watched the movies, and my knowledge / love of Harry Potter extends to the most well-known scenes, characters and locations. I'm really looking forward to this set, but no Gringotts makes this go from a potential day one purchase to a big fat "maybe".
  8. I'm hoping for the present version. I prefer the ruined look instead of the clean-cut aesthetic. There's more potential for build diversity and detail among the rubble. ------- 9035 pieces? I hope so. The big dilemma for the second half of 2020: Diagon Alley, Mos Eisley or the Colosseum...?
  9. One person on instagram claiming it's 700€ with 9035 pieces. Other posts just saying 4000+ pieces (which I imagine would be substantially cheaper). I'm hoping for the former's piece count, but also the latter's price. Still want to tread with caution. Don't wanna take for granted the veracity of these rumors.
  10. I wouldn't be that surprised if the Colosseum claimed the title of largest set / set with most pieces. The Taj Mahal reigned supreme until 2017 when the 2nd UCS MF came out. It would make sense for the Colosseum to be colossal. After all the surprises we've had this year - the rebranding of Creator Expert, the Nintendo partnership, the art theme and the whole concept of marketing sets directly to adults - a new largest-of-all-time set would be the cherry on top of the cake. Let's just hope this rumor is 100% real, piece count and all. After the debunked UCS Imperial Shuttle rumor, one tends to be more skeptical of rumors that are just starting to spread.
  11. Does that print actually belong to a poster that's seen in any of the movies? If you google "muggles are your friends" you'll see the same "un-lego-fied" poster. It looks like fanart to me. Or is it official HP paraphernalia?
  12. Exactly. With all the promising sets coming out in the next few months (Diagon Alley, Mos Eisley, and, I hope it is true, the Roman Colosseum), it's hard to buy anything when all that money could be used towards a bigger set that you might like more.
  13. The set doesn't actually come with an elevated monorail, does it? Because I can't tell whether the monorail track is actually part of the set or just part of the background...
  14. I'm not sure whether to be pumped for tomorrow, or to temper my expectations and expect a reveal in mid August. What was the last D2C to be revealed a whole month before its non-VIP release date? The Haunted House? Do we even know whether DA will have an early VIP release? I hope we get something tomorrow, considering it's the 31st.
  15. I often see the hashtag as blocked. It was happening a lot yesterday. It seems to still be up right now.
  16. Yes, I know. Reading this set's description feels like reading the fine print on a contract. I wonder whether MODers will find a way make this a real playable piano. Perhaps using Mindstorms...?
  17. Despite the size and piece count of the set, it still looks small and chonky to me. Is it the proportions? The amount of keys? It's sleek and looks like a piano, so it succeeds at its job. It even plays music! But I think we'll need to see reviews to understand whether people can use it as if it were a real piano. From my understanding of Brickset comments, it plays predetermined tunes, since the Powered Up system cannot detected exactly which key you are pressing - only that a key is being pressed. It's nice, but not 450CAD nice.
  18. Good Lord, I just noticed this set is 71cm wide. It's huge! Shame it's been cancelled. Could we see a recycled design just different enough to get away with it not being licensed? As to distance itself a little from the controversy, while still being able to release a "corrected" version of the set? I'd imagine TLG would rather forget completely about this model...
  19. Sold! ----------------- While the set would indeed make a nice desk piece, 40USD/50CAD isn't pocket change when there's a new MBS set coming out. I remember when a set with ~250 pieces and 2 figures used to retail for 30CAD. Those were the days...
  20. Bespin Duel set looks very nice. I'd bite for 30CAD, but I think I'll pass for 50.
  21. I wish it were revealed this week... But has TLG ever made this many D2C reveals in such a short amount of time? The NES last week, the Ideas Piano any day now, and the DA very soon?
  22. Not necessarily. As long as it fits one or two figures, people would be able to recreate the scene where the heroes escape Mos Eisley in its entirety. Just like the TIE Advanced in the Death Star or the Slave I in CC, it just needs to be a chibi version of the ship. ------------------------------ On a scale of 10 to 10, what are the odds we get another landspeeder in this set? I also think I'm looking forward to the figures as much as I am to the build itself. Hopefully we finally get the Imperial Spy!
