It was a good year. Never saw many movies as I like to do it in cinemas and money was scarce. Of all the movies you mentioned, I really loved Kingsman for it's witty and absurd mood. Avengers? Well, I started to sleep as I was on a night marathon with 1st Avengers and Captain America: Winter Soldier. Don't really remember much of this flick. But all of this matters not, as 2015 was a year of The Force Awakens. Great, great movie. TONS of old Star Wars style and mood, wonderful practical special effects, really good acting and great, lovable new characters. As for the "problems" - yeah, it resembled A New Hope. In about 20%; the rest of it was a different story. When someone says it's "A New Hope 2.0", he forgot, that Return of the Jedi was "ANH 2.0", if this whole "destroy the superweapon" mess is to be blamed. The rest of it is a classic Campbell's "Hero's Journey". Not to mention the fact, that a person viewing ANH and TFA for the first time in his life would probably consider TFA a better movie. Some minor details were the things that bugged me more than the whole story thing, but they aren't big enough to be mentioned. P.S. Also, in 2015 I saw Lego: the Movie and Guardians of the Galaxy for the first time and those two are just awesome.

[Challenge3][Cat.A][M-E02] Helios Type-M Landing Craft
Immo replied to StarHawk3's topic in AG1 Archive
B-Wing + YT-1300 + MANTIS-esque. Nice! -
911506 & 911510 foiled micro scale sets. The former is a 4.5 stud long Snowspeeder, latter - 5.5 stud long Star Destroter with a 2 stud long TIE. Small, ridiculous, but kinda cute and still quite resembling the actual things (especially the Snowspeeder).

"The Force Awakens". Twice. Plus, "Back to the Future" trilogy. Both in "I can do this till I'm old and grouchy" category.

3 hrs of attempted MOC upgrade and back to the starting point with no results. Perhaps I wnted to add just one feature too much.

[MOC] The Hob Rod
Immo replied to Immo's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I redone the model to incorporate the better roof - I gave some thought to it and indeed reversing those panels was a good idea. I'm waiting for some additional parts to improve the doors and gear shifter, then I'll post new photos. Meanwhile, I'd like to ask the Admin/Mod to change the name of model to Hob Rod again. It wasn't a mistake by my part, that's the actual name of the vehicle. -
[REVIEW] 42050 - Drag Racer
Immo replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Just got and built mine, thanks to my lovely girlfriend. Neat set, quite impressive in size. Asks to be modded, though; I don't like this big hole in the back left for the motor I won't be installing anyway. Otherwise it's more than OK, spot on for a drag/hot rod/muscle fan like me. Unfortunately, for the first time in my life a Lego set had a part missing: one black axle connector was nowhere to be found. Fortunately, I had one in my reserve, but it's still a bummer. EDIT: Silly me, I used that part where I wasn't supposed to. Henceforth, the set is complete and I still haven't encountered an incomplete one in my venturesome career. /EDIT Well, then you should appreciate this quite accurate representation of a Funny Car -
Shiny! This forum needs more Firefly! Love it, best show ever.

The best 42039 roadster so far. Well done! The only downside I see are the seats and steering wheel - too small for that scale. But, heck, still awesome! Don't wanna be a jack, but there's no such thing as "flat V8". When all the pistons are moving on a same surface on opposite sides of the crankshaft, the engine is called "boxer". When two rows of cylinders are at an angle, above the crankshaft, the engine is V-type.

"The next train to Adelaide will depart from platform 1, stopping all stations." Cool build, nicely done!

MOC concept arctic racer

I kinda like the wheeled version as well. Maybe bigger wheels in the rear would look better? Anyway, awesome design, very futuristic. -
Okay, one more thing that really drives me nuts: Used sets for sale on the Interwebs (usually OLX) with "condition and completeness in the pictures" adnotation. My dear seller, how the hell am I supposed to see if the important (and usually rare) element that keeps the whole thing together and/or gives it sense is still there if you say that and then add two 400x300 pics taken with 2005 telephone's digital camera? I usually assume that the set is incomplete and (if the price isn't overwhelmingly good anyway) ignore your listing. EDIT: And another one - knowing that a new set/parts package is en route to you and waiting for it and waiting and waiting and post not delivers today and courier didn't make it and no one was at home when he came and you have to pick it up by yourself but it's not addressed on you so tomorrow and... UGH! Once again I realize I'm a walking meatbag full of frustration. Can I be cured?

He's the guy responsible for me getting to work late every day! Nice build!

I sincerely hope they are about to release a fixed version of the soft as it is most useful for me and my writing (making Lego models of the stuff from my fiction really helps me visualize some stuff and capture the mood). Not to mention the virtual models as a representation and/or instructions for my MOCs (especially on Rebrickable) as I don't have any skills to create the instructions otherwise. And if you look even closer, you can see render artifacts on Lisa's skirt. It's a render, a quite good one, too, but still a render. Lighting fixtures reflecting in surfaces is pretty much a render standard these days.

[REVIEW] 42050 - Drag Racer

I treat the wheelie function more as a display function. And I hate to repeat myself, but the proportions seem to be just fine for a model of a Funny Car. That part of the car is quite realistic, which should be desired in Technic models, right? Agreed... ...even the almighty 42052 cargo heli? -
I must say your MOC is... so artistically done. Good job. He's one of the reasons I regret the old EU got cancelled.

Lots of them. Some are technical: - realizing that LDD seems to be unsupported by TLG now and the new pieces won't be coming any time soon... - ...and the lots of LDD shenanigans and bugs (damn rotation tool!) are still there to ruin my fun - parts that always fall on the ground and are hard to find... - ...and those that are hard to find among other pieces (but actually they are right in front of me, in plain sight!) - parts that break for no apparent reason - lacking that one small element that would render my Alternative Build/C Model perfect - parts impossible to separate with anything else than razor-sharp and razor-thin tool - "Legos" (in my native tongue it'd be even more gross to create such a "word-cancer", as we call it, because inflection of the nouns is a tricky thing in Polish; hence, I transferred that dislike towards English as well) - assembling and disassembling again and again for so long my fingers start to hurt (maybe even are cut) but I still want to finish the damn MOC! Some more personal: - people that make me feel like a childish person despite the fact I usually don't mind being childish (it's that special kind of people who put you in the "oh, you poor, retarded thing" paradigm, I think some of you would understand what I mean) - being too poor to afford all the bricks I want/need - my cats marching through my workspace, unable to comprehend how intimate and spiritual MOCing is - last but not least, the most personal thing: when I build a really cool C Model of a Technic set, post it online and nearly no one notices because I just recently came out of the Dark Age and I'm not a huge persona in the AFoL communities

Astonishing MOC. So many details and so much realism you almost hear the machine gun singing and tank threads grinding in the background. Dude! Out of context, this actually sounds pretty creepy!

Tell that to any guitar/bass guitar maniac. They'll give you a nice, long lecture about the 1970s and 1980s, when Japanese companies made guitars indistinguishable from the US-made ones (Aria copied Gibsons and Tokai copied Fenders; in fact, "Tokai" logo looked exactly like "Fender" logo from certain distance). They were better quality and better sounding at lower price point than the originals. I guess they were practicing their copying ability. The same went with Soviets - in 1940s at the time of war they took watches for various "services" from people in occupied areas. Some officers wore even 5 watches on one wrist. 10-20 years later the Soviet Union was the renowned manufacturer of watches I always forget about that scene when I watch the movie and I laugh hard every time.
