I steal parts from my child. My inner child More seriously, though, I wouldn't dare to steal/borrow form my kid if I had one. And I'd expect the same from him/her. I'd introduce the kid into Lego, though.

My taste in music is really wide, I can suffer mostly anything, but the field of music I enjoy is a bit narrower. Rock in general is my first love. Classic stuff from '60s, '70s, '80s, hard rock, sub-genres of metal like heavy, stoner and doom, some grunge and experiments - that's what I enjoy the most. Currently, ma favorite artists are (in alhabetical order): AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Kyuss, Orange Goblin, ZZ-Top. My perfect rock sound? Probably this album: But I also like hip-hop. Mostly pieces from the golden era of west coast (Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg, N.W.A., Eazy-E) and classics from east coast (Biz Markie, Big Daddy Kane, Ultramagnetic MCs), but also contemporary Aussie stuff (Hilltop Hoods and the Funkoars).

Yup, the high-end versions have "RAPTOR" written on the side, either on the doors or on the bed's walls.

I'm a video game writer and text designer - a weird creature that, great many times, does not belong. Without going into too much detail, I treat game dev as an abusive girlfriend - she hurts me, yet I still come back. I'm also a worldbuilder by heart and an aspiring writer, trying to create his own retro-futuristic SF universe. But that's not "for living", at least - not yet. And that's my goal!

Incredible MOC. Chilly. Love the details.

From the sole geekiness I think this set is a must for any Star Wars fan. If I had a huge flower pot full of cacti and filled with sand, this set would be displayed in it, that would be awesome. As for the "con" of plans hidden in a capsule - I wouldn't consider it a flaw - the "plans" part, as you mentioned, is a nice addition and it needs to be attached somewhere. Hiding it adds up to the ethos of "Secret mission? What plans?" And Artoo can "take" those with him

You probably mean HWK line of Corellian ships. Kyle Katarn's "Mouldy Crow" was HWK-290. Love that design, looks mean and fast.

Part Degradation over Time
Immo replied to nerdsforprez's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Electric motors in Lego motors like that won't "degrade" with time, as they are composed of metal rod with thin cable wrapping and magnets - those things won't decay. The main concern would be moisture (that can be drawn away with non-conducting electronics cleaning agent) and dust, hair and other contaminants, but the Lego motors should be pretty good sealed. The other possible problem would be lubrication, but using a RC models lubricant or grease would do. As for the electronics in general, as long as they were not directly attached to excessive voltage or leaking batteries, there should be no problem. EDIT: OK, look at the posts below, it appear there's more to that. Maybe those problems occurred because of the things I mentioned. And I completely forgot about the cables, the softest and most wear-prone part of the any Lego powered arrangements. -
In my local Lego licensed store they still have a VW Camper at a retail price. Sometimes it's a lottery.

I guess using some silicone (possible to be later removed without spoiling any bricks) would seal the hull of a Lego ship. I guess even using abundant 2x4 bricks would seal it decently enough. The problem is ballasting the thing so the point of weight would be as low as possible.

Most of them are connected with my childhood. - damaging some parts, painting them with sharpies (yeah, I was dumb) - not having ability to memorize (pics or LDD file) many of my childhood MOCs, especially those Star Wars ones - losing some rare parts But some are more thorough: - not buying many ridiculously discounted sets I saw (main reason I spent all my month's saved money on 42000 when I saw it at a discount last year) and visiting Lego wholesale stores - living in a place where nearly nobody organizes garage sales and sellers who try to earn 120% of the MSRP on stuff that is still on official sale. That's all I can think of now.

Bricks cracking... just from being connected to one another?
Immo replied to Endgame's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Only parts from sets from 2007 (4939 Cool Cars) and 2010 (5867 Super Speedster) - I'm looking at you, cheese slopes! - broke and I believe it was a bad timespan for Lego Quality; actually, you can see the decrease of ABS quality with the naked eye. Recently, however, I noticed my 42020 Twin Rotor Helicopter perpendicular pin and axle connectors cracked for no apparent reason. Also, the long pins with stop bush (4 of 5) cracked. Two of them - well, I could understand why, as, they were under a bit of strain - but two served as rear rotor blades on a heli MOC and shouldn't have cracked just like that. Placing my replacement parts query now. Let's see if TLG's willing to help. Put them into a bath of 2% hydrogen peroxide (oxidated water) and leave them in a direct sunlight for a whole day or two. They should turn white again. -
Great Scott! Cool model. Really convincing in that scale! Wing doors Suicide doors are the rear hinged ones.
-
They should be attached to the car's undercarriage in the middle, but at least the model has working suspension... It works great in 42001 Mini Off-Roader.

Themes = Castle, Space, City... For example, those "hill" parts plus all that connects to castle theme + all black and gray pieces that could serve as filling.
-
I'd sort the lot into themes. The worst thing that happens to auctions/classifieds is when someone sells sorts of, let's say, 20 parts, among which there are those two you desperately need and eighteen you have no use for. I mean, it's a good business to the seller in theory, but scares many potential buyers away. With that said, I'd buy half of the stuff you have over there if I had the money

Never heard of any exclusive polybags released in Poland Actually, it's hard in general to obtain polybags here. Got two (unpacked) from an online seller. Never got to know where did she get those.

Nicest sloop I've seen so far. This vessel is what really motivates me into building my own topsail sloop or topsail ketch. Time to buy my own hull and turn into shipwright. EDIT: Or is it a cutter after all? To me it's a sloop. Tad to big for a cutter, methinks.

75874 Chevy Camaro Drag Race is a must for my household. My girlfriend is a fan of contemporary Camaro. I'm a fan of '60s Camaro. We're gonna BROOM the hell out of this set when we'll buy it 75875 Ford F015 Raptor & Deuce is a must for me. This set is awesome not only because of hot rod, but also because of this fully equipped workshop.

This brought a genuine tear to my eye. As a Pole, I feel you, mate. Dude, you already ordered the best sets to fulfill your needs. My advice? Look for some used sets with not more than 200-300 parts. 8067, 8259, 9390, 9391, stuff like that. Building intricate constructions from a limited set of parts is the best thing to boost your creativity and ingenuity.
-
It also worked the other way in my case - I bought used 5867 "Super Speedster" in a ton box for an equivalent of today's 10 bucks (which was really cheap for 5 years old set in Poland). I guess the package's state was one of the price lowering factors (apart from poor parts quality).
-
Whoah, cool! I'm not the biggest fan of non-lego parts as I try to keep everything in my MOCing legit, but in this case I'd do an exception. You should consider doing custom robot minifigures Is that even possible to create poseable (articulated) minifigs 100% from aluminum alloy?

Being a hot rod guy I couldn't help but sneak a peek. Nice V10 there, mate, this rod has potential. Needs some minor tweaks and will be great! V10 begs for some crazy exhaust manifold. Story of my life 42000 - turned into Hot Rod C-model. 42024 - turned into Hot Rod C-model. Just got 42050 - already thinking about turning it into Hot Rod C-model.
