  1. Can we be friends? Finally, someone who shares my opinion! What astonishes me is that people hate the model that is actually pretty accurate in reproducing the real thing it's based on.
  2. 42050 and 42052 - two reasons I won't be sleeping well tonight.

  3. ...and Kustom Kulture and NHRA fans. Once again - this is a pretty accurate model of a Funny Car! I, for one, definitely shall! That's actually a great idea - you can replace the bodies while keeping the original base. Just like 42001 back in the days.
  4. Yup, it is a Funny Car. And a quite faithful to the idea, in fact: has the supercharged V8 moved towards the back, tilt-up bodywork, narrow rear end and HUGE rear wheels, spoiler and wheelie rack. Ugly, ridiculous and flamboyant - just like a proper Funny Car should. I believe they called the set "Drag Racer" not to confuse people who aren't too knowledgeable about the drag racing with a name like "Funny Car". The rear windshield's a bit sketchy, but the model is awesome nonetheless. Especially for a muscle car/dragster maniac like me. Definitely gonna buy it!
  5. Everyone (myself included) in my company is fired. And how's your holiday? ;)

  6. Not only a kid... For a 2004 set it's pretty nice, I recall most of the Technic sets from that period to by pretty Sci-Fi-ish in terms of the bodywork, yet this car appears pretty plausible. And the functions and feats are nice, especially the double winch. Nice to have those dark grey cylinders, as well...
  7. Is there any chance for 2,5L or 3,5L Technic Axle, perhaps? No, but seriously, that part would be awesome for camshaft/transmission connectors.
  8. Very cool! Great idea and execution. How does the steering work?
  9. Yeah, I do realize that; the whole 'scissor' type lifts and their applications are subject for a book and steering like the one used in 9390 is pretty cool indeed, but I was thinking about typicaal official sets and their mechanisms using gears or actuators (aforementioned 9390 has also the geared hitch) ;)
  10. I really don't think I would. No functions means no gears, actuators, pistons & cylinders, just plain panels, axles and liftarms, really. The whole fun about Technic is that you can think of your creations that would include some functions, the neater the better. Besides, said 'accurate replica' would still need at least steering and opening doors to be 'accurate', right? For me, indeed, the shortest definition of 'Lego Technic set' is a 'set that utilises some functions and is mostly bolted together by pins, not studs'. And the function may be something simple like rubber suspension or winch or something as sophisticated as 5-speed gearbox and remote controlled steering.
  11. The idea of the roof was to make the car an extremely chopped pickoupé - to suggest the roof originally was horizontal and higher, but was cut, ground and welded to make it slightly longer, but reduce the height and air resistance, adding aggressive looks at the same time. I wanted it to be unique and look different from typical hot rods, something like those: I don't believe so - it would look like the roof would be torn away at high speed because of the "spiky" segments sticking out above the windscreen and engine ;) I mean, it's possible to mount the panels backwards, but they either touch the supercharger's bug-catcher of interfere with HOG. And I don't like those "spikes". Maybe those three stud shorter panels would do a better job, but I wanted to use the parts I had. :)
  12. The front half is mean. The rear half is business. The whole car means business. I give you my favourite MOC to date, a modest, but satisfactory build: The Hob Rod. A '30s pickup truck that was obtained by a hot-rodder and turned into a pickoupé hot rod with a decent dosage of chopping, channelling and grinding. It's powered by a blown V6 engine, creating a fine example of quite an extreme kustom kulture-influenced vehicle. The car started as a simple mod of 42022 - the plan was only to put a differential in it, maybe include opening doors. Of course, the whole thing resulted with a lot of loose parts ordered on-line and now is a completely different vehicle. It took me a while to find and execute the proper way have a HOG and rotating steering wheel bypassing the transmission axle. When it was done, everything went smooth. Features: ► mountain V6 cammer engine with moving pistons and Iron Cross-decorated cylinder heads ► blower with rotating pulley + bug-catcher & carburettor + external tachometer and oil pressure gauge ► radiator with a tiny-tiny puke can + a set of headers and classy exhausts ► working differential and transmission ► 30's classic link steering connected to steering wheel and a HOG (all featuring an intricate steering vs transmission bypass system) ► detailed cockpit with a steering wheel, dashboard, custom skull-shaped gear shifter and comfy channelled couch for two ► slanted roof and roomy bed for that pickoupé feeling everybody desires ► locking, rear hinged "suicide" doors with shaved handles and slanted edges ► exposed suicide front axle + wide, leaf spring-suspended rear axle for perfect control at salt flats ► rolled pan rear bumper and a club plaque I apologize for the poor quality of all photos, that's the best I can do for now.
  13. Sounds like a fancy way to torture yourself. Good thing you ignore it
  14. I mostly buy sets I like, especially when I see a nice alternate build possibilities. However, for my first serious MOC after the Dark Age I bought a ton of panels and parts through the Internet and stationary stores.
  15. Hi, guys. My name is Wojtek (you spell it 'Voyteck'), I'm from Poland, born in the late '80s. Writer, game designer, text designer, enthusiast of various things like video games, speculative fiction, classic cars, bass guitars, music... I work at a game development company as that guy who creates various text related stuff ('Oh, you make games? So you must be a programmer!' 'No, ma'am, I write story and characters.' 'Oh, ok... Mighty fine weather, now isn't it?'), while at home I create a big S-F project containing novels, stories and a tabletop games. I'm also an AFoL that was rescued from the Dark Age by his girlfriend who started to gift some nice sets to him. My love for Lego was reborn and never was stronger (man, I need to un-dig the old sets!). When it comes to Lego, I won't shy away from neither building nor brooming and swooshing. My thing are mostly Creator and Technic sets and I build mostly vehicles of different kinds. I also like LDD, but I use it mostly to generate building guides for my more successful MOCs and to visualize stuff from my private project since my 3D soft skills are absolute zero, while my Lego-building skills are at least decent (I hope). Cheers!
