The Lego Movie 2 - The Second Part 2019 Set Discussion
BrickJagger replied to Fenghuang0296's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Wow. At this point I'm worried about overkill a la TLBM, but there should be something to appeal to all of us within that *enormous* wave. -
Pirates is definitely not as popular as it used to be. Knights, however are a different story. I see medieval themed stuff all over the place, from books to TV shows and movies. The Castle theme also has run almost continuously for 40 years. Lego themselves have said that NK is a Castle theme, so we have had "Castle" sets as recently as this year. It'll come back soon enough, and I think it will be fantasy inspired like the 2007 line. Fantasy Era is one of the most popular Castle themes of all time. When I look on Youtube and even on these boards, most of the people who want Castle back want a new version of Fantasy Era. There was even a thread on Brickset discussing how expensive the FE sets are to buy second hand. I wouldn't call it a disappointment in the slightest. If anything, I think it was discontinued and Kingdoms was introduced to provide a bridge to LOTR, considering how FE and LOTR have similar concepts.

Lego Financial Results January-June 2018
BrickJagger replied to Khscarymovie4's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I don't find it surprising that SH isn't selling like it used to. Superhero movies come off as a fad to me and after Avengers 4 I think interest will drop off considerably. I do find it interesting that the Infinity War sets didn't provide any noteworthy boost to Marvel's sales. Overall it was a "meh" year financially for Lego. 1% growth is nothing to be proud of, but it's better than last year. Personally I bought only a couple of 2018 sets, so I hope that next year has more stuff that I like because I'd love to contribute to their sales growth -
Is Legoβs quality deteriorating?
BrickJagger replied to NathanR's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I do think the quality is deteriorating, and it's happened within the last few years. Sets I've bought recently have discolored pieces, pieces that don't fit as well as they used to, broken pieces, missing sticker sheets, and figures with arms that crack easily. I've gotten replacement parts for some of them but it's a troubling trend that I hope stops soon. -
The autumn colors of the forest really compliment the main castle nicely. The rock builds are also well done. Does the castle have an interior?

Winter Village Sets - Rumours and Discussion

I agree with this, but what's going on at the end of your post?

It's not just anecdotal. Like I said, big stores (It was either Target or Walmart, maybe both?) decided not to stock the 2014 Hobbit sets, and there are at least a couple of "reliable sources" saying that the line was not selling well, if I recall. I don't like LOTR in the slightest but I was there when it happened. You're welcome to dig through over 1,000 pages of banter and wishlists if you would like
-
It was pretty well documented that the second wave of LOTR and last two waves of Hobbit were on clearance literally everywhere. The last wave of Hobbit sold so poorly that some stores chose not to even stock it. That stuff it buried in the Future LOTR Sets (now known as LOTR General Discussion) and Hobbit 2014 threads, but those threads are enormous and it would take me awhile to find it again.
-
I've asked this in every LOTR related thread for the past two years: Why would Lego bring back a theme that didn't do well? There's no debating that it was a commercial flop. Blame the set choices all you want, it didn't sell well. I just don't get why some people assume it will be back

Winter Village Sets - Rumours and Discussion
BrickJagger replied to Gearslover01's topic in LEGO Town
I'm relieved that it's not another remake. There are precious few sets that appeal to me right now and luckily this looks good so far. I can't really make out a ton, but the kitchen leads me to believe that it's some sort of restaurant in what may be a barn. Regardless, I'm excited. -
I'm not quite sure what you're getting at there. Are you saying that Lego should only have licensed themes from now on? I wouldn't wait that long. If Lego is truly trying to get Elves off the shelves as fast as possible, they might not even make it to Halloween. The silver lining is that the existing sets will probably stay on clearance until they're gone.

How long Overwatch lasts depends on sales, not the amount of material in the game that could become sets. I don't how long it will last, but we'll have a much better idea of how well it is doing after the sets come out.

Great work! I like your choice of hair for Wiz and the cars look nice.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
BrickJagger replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
My predictions: January: TLM2 (18 figures) May: Series 19 (regular series with no special theme, 16 figures) September: Disney Series 2 (20 figures) -
I think you're vastly overestimating how many sets Lego is going to make. HP selling well so far doesn't mean that they'll suddenly pump out 20 sets next year, and they're trying to cover as much as they can without doubling up. This year, there were only six HP sets, two FB sets and a few extra things like the CMF series and Brickheadz. I hate to disappoint you, but that's probably going to be the biggest wave. They'll only make a few sets next year, and they'll have to cover large portions of the next few films with them. I certainly expect more of Hogwarts, but they've technically already covered the Gryffindor common room and likely won't return to it.

To be honest, I don't think we'll get a minifig-scale Diagon Alley, at least not anytime soon. I think HP had a planned run of two waves or so, and what you're currently seeing is TLG trying to accommodate that while including as much as they can for the fans (The CMF series, random figs shoehorned into sets, Diagon Alley microbuild) etc. While I think HP will come back next summer in a light 3-4 set wave, I don't think that there will be anything major coming out in January.

Lego City 2019 - Rumours, Speculation and Discussion
BrickJagger replied to TheArturro's topic in LEGO Town
Probably! They last updated them several years ago, this could be a different road configuration that still works with the current plates or a new system entirely. Excited to see what it ends up being. -
PRESS RELEASE for LEGO 75222 - Betrayal at Cloud City Announcement
BrickJagger replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yikes. I really don't like this. The set itself is okay, but the price is just ridiculous. $350 for a set with 2800 pieces? Also, there's hardly any details for what is supposed to be a collector's item. Just look at this image: The entire back half is nearly blank. I get that part of that is the landing pad, but there's barely anything in what looks to be a sizable portion of the interior. The landing pad itself is also a weird shape and throws off the otherwise circular structure, and the bit where Luke and Vader duel is within arm's reach of the Carbonite Chamber. Here's what really gets me. Some will argue that it's a playset, but I don't see many parents spending $350 to get their kid a relatively obscure city when they could get the Death Star or another more iconic set. Others will argue that it's a D2C, but it looks nothing like Cloud City, mostly due to its lack of roof panels, and it has almost zero display value because you have to look closely to even figure out what it is in the first place. To be honest if kind of looks like someone attempted to MOC Cloud City out of a destroyed Millennium Falcon. Needless to say, I won't be buying this! -
I love the layout of the site and it looks like you put a lot of hard work into it! Will you be adding anything from after 2000?
