  1. You're not alone on this at all. There aren't many Castle fans on here anymore, but that's not how it always was. The Historic Themes forum actually has more posts in it than any other forum on the site, and there used to be a ton of active members on there who whose main interest was in Castle. I started lurking on here around 2011 when Kingdoms was still going, and I joined in 2015 to post a rumor I had heard about a new Castle theme that was similar to Fantasy Era. That theme turned out to be Nexo Knights, and right about here is where you can see most Castle fans give up on Lego. I personally liked NK, and I lobbied the mods to keep the thread in Historic, unpopular as the theme was, because I figured that the forum would die without it. When it got moved to Action, I made Future Castle Sets in the hope that it would keep the forum alive. I definitely did my part I'd love to get back to when people just made random threads about Castle that pertained to the sets and we discussed it. As a matter of fact, @Itaria No Shintaku is starting up a game to determine the best Castle set, so make sure to go join in on that.
  2. I hate to be a downer but I feel the exact same way. I was really exited for this wave, but almost every single set here is disappointing. Don't get me wrong, they're mostly creative and I appreciate how Lego is trying to go off the beaten path with this theme, but it's basically the main heroes from the original, a bunch of poorly-constructed MOCs, and exactly two villains of note, and one of them is literally just a pile of bricks. It's like they ratcheted up the "random" aspect of the original movie to ten, and in doing so ended up sucking most of the charm out. The saving grace, however, is Benny's space team. That set is absolutely perfect and I'm glad that the Space fans finally get a bone thrown their way. Hopefully the moonbase I see in the background turns into a set as well. Now in regards to the complete and utter lack of historical stuff...there may just be a reason for that. I don't want to sound too hopeful, but maybe it's because there's a new historical theme launching next summer that Lego doesn't want any January sets to interfere with? Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts are only getting four sets total next year, so it's definitely not a huge block to a regular Castle theme.
  3. I am too! If the "Space Team" set has the other classic space figures, I'll buy it for sure. I do hope there is a castle-themed set in this wave as well, especially if we aren't getting a new subtheme next year.
  4. I bet this recent news makes @Digger of Bricks pretty happy
  5. Recently Lego has been making efforts to crack down on leakers who post preliminary images on Youtube, Instagram, 4Chan and the like, and have been quite successful. We are now halfway through November and preliminary images for most of the January 2019 sets have not come out yet, including the Lego Movie 2, which they are doing an insanely good job at keeping under wraps. There has been a lot of discussion over the years about whether or not leaking sets is a good practice. Eurobricks itself started out as being pro-leaks, but you won't find any on here nowadays due to the site growing in popularity and Lego stepping in. In the poll I've included a few questions that I hope will show where we stand on this as a community. I personally think that there are solid arguments on both sides of this discussion. Feel free to discuss below.
  6. Ooh, a controversial one, spicy!
  7. Thanks for sharing. Does it say where the portal leads? Also, are there any characters or vehicles introduced that aren't in the sets?
  8. It could turn out to be a Sky Police hover-car
  9. I think you've nailed the worn-down look of the fortress, but the motte should probably be raised a few bricks higher; they're currently right at sea level
  10. Indeed. Someone clearly has the entire catalog so I would expect everything by tonight.
  11. Nice work. I think that Day 11 is my favorite.
  12. I feel like we've been talking about sewer babies and batman's shoulder pads for the past six months
  13. Congrats to all the winners! I’d like the wolf.
  14. Same. Personally I think that it's the best modular of all time, but that's just me.
  15. Now this is interesting, thanks for sharing. If licensed themes are standing in the way of Castle though, why were there so many licenses and Castle themes that ran co-currently in the recent past? I imagine that this must have been a recent change.
  16. Man, I wish I shared your optimism. I want to support Lego and their decisions, but they're just not giving me anything to work with. I'm hoping that the TLM2 series appeals to me but it looks like it will mostly be based on Mini-dolls, licensed characters and duplo blocks.
  17. Yeah, I can't say I'm surprised by this. Simply put, I think that Lego doesn't really care about non-licensed themes anymore. I'll personally hold out on here for the next millennium for a new Castle theme, but we should literally expect nothing that appeals to us in the interim. You gotta link for that?
  18. INTRODUCING: THE NEXO KNIGHTMARE He has come to wreak havoc upon the Kingdom of Billund in revenge for his theme's cancellation... and to prove his superiority as the best Castle sub-theme. "Real Castle" fans beware!
  19. That's true for me as well. So far I only really care about S19, and I'm hoping that TLM2 has some historical themed stuff. Other than that, it's a really rough year, maybe worse than 2018 for me.
  20. Yeah that's true, I forgot about that. It's just that this year we barely have anything for all of the January themes, not even a set list for some of them. I wouldn't expect pictures of the modular until a couple days before it's released.
  21. This is the driest leak season since EB has started. We're just going to have to wait it out at this point.
