Brickseas.com - a structured index for BoBS
Elostirion replied to Elostirion's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I have tried to update the islands and settlements to my best knowledge - however I might have missed some updates on island names or new settlements. Please let me know if this is the case. -

Brickseas.com - a structured index for BoBS
Elostirion replied to Elostirion's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Updates * all issues sent to me have been fixed * some new builds have been added * I added the MTF as a new challenge * Uploading builds yourself is now possible * added some icons to the map Submitting your own builds 1. Use this link: http://brickseas.com/upload.php or click on the "cloud"-icon on the clickable map. 2. Select yourself 3. Check if the MOC you want to add is already there at the bottom 4. Add a new MOC by at least providing the title of the build and the link. Please select the correct type as well (freebuild, licensed, ship, challenge, ...) 5. Fill out the other information as it fits (shipsize for a house makes as little sense as having a "Copper Dockyard" or sth.). 6. Select the month in which you have posted the build in the board. 7. Optional: Mention the sigfigs/characters that are visible in the build (up to ten possible currently, please message me if more are required, I would add them manually). Please note: Add new sigfigs before adding the MOC. 8. Optional: Upload a 120x100 Px preview-image of the MOC as a .jpg file. (naming is up to you, will be renamed at upload) 9. Click Submit. Note: If a build serves two purposes (e.g. challenge entry & ship-license) please add it twice. Messing up Please don't hesitate to add your builds. If sth. goes wrong just message me and I will fix it (or upload again and I will delete the first attempt). Don't worry! If you guys mess up on purpose (!) I will activate the approval feature (then I will have to approve every future upload before it is visible). Currently all builds will be visible immediately. Adding builds from other people If you feel like adding e.g. all missing builds for the "Musicians Talent Fair" - pleas go ahead! I won't stop you. ;-) -

Fishing and trade post at Zeus' island [OL - FB1]
Elostirion replied to blackdeathgr's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Great work on the whole fishing scene, the net, the line for hanging the fish to dry, the action of all the people involved, the small pig, all works out great! However as you have stated yourself the rocks leave some room for improvement. I'd suggest working with smaller plates, maybe put some brown instead of grey under the brushes and especially just have more alteration in the heights (cause that is what rocks are about, mainly), more up and down. The small patches of light grey with olive green on the rock are a great start already. Really good build overall, I love the general atmosphere and feeling it gives. -

Variations of Fortifications around BoBS
Elostirion replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I really like how you took the extra mile to do this without any Dubloons at the end of the road. Great results as well, I really like this as a comparison between the nations and their attitudes towards.. everything. -

Thank you all for the very nice feedback, glad you like it! I tried out some new stuff for the ship and personally I am not 100% happy with the outcome. While I still believe in this overall approach to building ships I think it'd be much better suited for very large ships, and also if the bottom of the ships is visible. Next time I know better. :-)

[COR - CH 2A]: Setting Up Defenses
Elostirion replied to Puvel's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Really clean build, the small pond definitely adds a lot to the build. My favourite part is the minifig-posing, though, seems rather realistic. -
I really don't think the amount of freebuilds allowed is the problem. For me this is 0% of the problem. It's the licenses & challenges & other tasks, or rather the combination of those. This month I had to: * build sth. to become mayor * MOC the MCRA-results * enter the Musician-challenge * MOC a ship I had won in an auction and with that actually had nothing for a new license, so * I added a dockyard to the ship so that I have something to license. However next up are * one build for a license this month * two challenge entries for challenge 2 * a build for a license next month Really nothing of that has to do anything with freebuilds. Reducing those would not be the solution. Reducing challenges or the "pressure" for licenses would be. However on the other hand I actually rather see this as positive * Most posts here show 80% upwards of the builder's current skill. Most don't show 100% or 120% (a massive improvement) of our skills yet, but that is ok for me. * There are few bad builds, and those mostly come from inexperienced builders. * right, there are quite a few mediocre builds around (mediocre builder going for the 80%), but that is ok for me. * The game has so far forced me into many new things: Ships, musicians, colonial housing, plantation, microbuild - none of which I would have done without the pressure coming from earning Dubloons. * We have all built our initial ships, intros, free or first licenses etc. - those won't come again, so the amount of builds the "Veterans" will have to build will decline, so the quality will rise

A ship of class A with 0 cargo can still make profit in a "Bounty Seekers" run - is this correct?

Román Esteban Fontonajo was finally happy again. He had won the auction for the Holder's Secret rather unexpected, in fact he had just placed a bid to increase the price a bit. Well then, as a man of honour he immediately paid his 33 Dubloons and took the ship to the Nova Terreli Dockyard, where the Fontanjo family was one of the main owners. Even though he didn't actually even want the ship. But that was another story. The old pirate ship was no beauty. All wooden brown, not much left of the sails, and a big whole in its hull where the cannons of the royal fleet had hit it. "Well then", he told the leading worker in the dockyard, "it's not an easy task, but I guess you will make that old pirate vessel a real Eslandolan beauty? Renew the hull, replace the destroyed cannon, maybe paint it green - I know you will find the solution." "Sure", the worker replied, "we will do our very best!" Two days later Román had returned, just to hear that a chest full of gold had been found in the captain's cabin. That gold would make up for some of the money spent, at least. This is my MOC for the Holder's Secret which I won in the Auction. Question: Do I have to submit it via license form? Also the dockyard will become a licensed medium artisan (no sure if it qualifies as medium or as big, but imho for big it's just not enough) in the future. Question: Is there a rule or leadership-decision forbidding to get two licenses out of a single MOC?

Captain's Log. February 23, 616 AE Nova Terreli in sight. The Queen has taken damage, parts burnt, front sail frazzled. Will be repaired. Cotton Lady, Fénix and Golden Snake all well. Time for profit. I have mainly copied the ships from Kai and the city layout from Phadeout. The whole voyage:

An absolutely amazing build overall. Supber atmosphere, great depiction of all the scienctific tools, amazing use of that floor technique, well done furniture and that staircase is absolutely gorgeous.

I really love how you integrated the hot coals into the green landscape. Very nice technique on the roof of the hut as well. Eslandola approves.

Glassworks and Stone Quarry, Port Raleigh
Elostirion replied to Fuzzy MacFuzz's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
It really has this atmosphere of a new part of a new settlement where construction has just started, full of life and hard work, everyone helping out, sharing the work, for the greater good of the community. Also great job on the water foaming at the beach, really love it in this last picture!- 16 replies

I was very sceptical when you said you wanted to expand it. I no longer am. Clever concept, amazing execution. -
You came here to be among the best in challenge 2 as well - and you delivered. Amazing work. High quality vegetation, perfectly fitting atmosphere, nice action and story, just really well done overall.
