There already is a way to game the system which, to my best knowledge, is not forbidden by the rules (though should be forbidden by leadership). Let's assume: * blackdeathgr and Elostirion both have 6 ships, their 7th would be really expensive. * Elostirion wants to license a 5T, blackdeathgr a 5A * they agree on a deal: 1. Elostirion sells 4 of his ships to blackdeathgr for 1 DB each. 2. Elostirion has 2 ships left and licenses his 5T as his third ship for the base price. 3. Elostirion buys his 4 ships back for 1 DB each. He now has 7 ships, but never paid increased license fees for the 7th ship. 4. The same is done for blackdeathgr now: He gives 4 ships to Elostirion (who now has 11, but who cares?), licenses his 3rd, and buy his 4 back again. Fortunately noone has done anything like that to date. :-)

"Maybe even a "Hall of Fame/Best of BoBS" sticky with the winning/worthy entries." I think this might be the best way. Public voting on the best non-challenge-build every month, the top 15 builds get DBs (first gets 40, 5th gets 25, 12th gets 10, 15th gets 5 or sth. like this). Maybe even in some categories. It must not be restricted to the top two or three, so that not only the Gideons have a shot at winning but every random builder has a chance to hit those winning-ranks if they do their best. Also considering build quality: Right, there is still room for improvement, but just look at challenge 2, so many amazing entries. Sure, some builds posted here really lack both build quality and story. But those are rare. Most are very decent at least. True and for sure not always to the builder's fullest potential, but then again encouraging everyone to try new stuff. Really, we are criticizing on a very, very high level here. Please always keep that in mind when talking about build quality. If there is a problem with BoBS then it's that Dubloon-wise I will always be better off to do 5 builds with 80% quality than 2 builds with 100% quality. "Right now I am more concerned about finding good places to sink gold at an individual level." I was thinking about that as well. However the increase in license-cost for ships depending on the amount does a great job here, so if you buy your 7th ship and decide for a class 5 - it just gets really expensive. Or just get some royal property, those 1.500 DBs take a while to gather. Starting at the last position: I don't like that at all. It would just take more and more hours of my life in which I would have to strategize about this game instead of building MOCs. Deciding about ship size after the MOC: Please not, at least find some middle ground. If I want to build a 3F I will have a game-reason for that, and I will do my best to match that goal. Most people will, and by this come at least somewhat close (unless you severely lack bricks, but that should not be punished, should it?). If there has to be a limitation it should be a jury forbidding absurd stuff (a canoe won't be a 3A - but noone has done anything like that yet).

Really well done. The roof is nice, but I really like the flair it has, just like a real warehouse. My favourite part is that the barrels don't just stand on the ground but on a board.

I definitely support the idea of paying Maxim for his efforts! Such a wonderful job on the index, which is an amazing help so often!

Brickseas.com - a structured index for BoBS
Elostirion replied to Elostirion's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
That's not possible yet. Adding a proper "edit" option to the site would take me some hours of work, but I will do that at some point in the future. For now just give me a quick message in this thread, via private conversation or via the feedback form. -
What could be fairer than some kind of auctioning. Of course it would need a starting price (e.g. 50% of the license cost), but why not let everyone bid on the ship? Might also lead to some interesting story. Would we Eslandolans from MCTC really like to have Corries bid on our Heart? But what about MAESTRO? They are Eslandolan as well (mainly), but are not the MCTC, and might bid on it, but would they?

Brickseas.com - a structured index for BoBS
Elostirion replied to Elostirion's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I've added some more information to the settlements, see for example Bardo. This might be useful for mayors. Thanks to Sir Stig for the suggestion. I plan on adding some additional statistic for mayors, like the amount of properties, the town bank etc. -
"I love it! Don't change a thing!" Not because I think there is no room for improvement (there is little because it's really, really great already!), there are always some possible tweaks, but because I don't want to get everything too complicated for both the leadership team and the participants.

Brickseas.com - a structured index for BoBS

Not so great I guess. I messed up the upload form ~15 hours ago. It didn't add builds to the database anymore, but didn't give an error warning either. So all builds added in the last ~15 hours are not there. (As I was the one who messed up just give a link of the builds which don't appear here and I will add them instead) (Sir Stig, your builds are there) big SORRY! -

Lovely build. A perfectly fitting style of architecture, the bright colourscheme is amazing and does not seem out of place at all, and the angling of the buildings is just fantastically realistic.

However, in case anyone is interested, here is a list of currently 231 of the characters used in BoBS so far. Feel free to add missing ones if you have some spare time.

So solid, a great blockhouse. One of the best wooden lego fortifications I have seen to date, I really love it. And yet again another amazing storyline built around it.

Settlement: Nova Terreli, Nellisa, Eslandola
Elostirion replied to Kai NRG's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
With its rapid growth over the past few months the city of Nova Terreli has not only become attractive to many merchants but also to attackers, trying to raid the town. While the Castillo de Nova Terreli stands strong on its hill close to the city, Nova Terreli needs more defenses. A messenger sent by mayor Román Esteban Fontonajo spreads the word: The city of Nova Terreli pays full licensing fees (50 DB) for a small fortification. Monthly income goes to the master builder. Please visit mayor Román Esteban Fontonajo to discuss details. Sorry, but the offer is not valid anymore! Counting 14 licenses and 3 freebuilds in this thread I am quite confident we have at least 70 DBs in the town bank. I can use 35 from that. If we have more licenses, there is more. I will borrow all remaining money from my own pockets, but possibly take it back next month.- 81 replies

[ESL - CH 2B] Why did you burn it?!
Elostirion replied to Elostirion's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Thank you all, glad you like it. I am actually not 100% sure. Mainly it's the best animal I could find, and as I tend to fail with brickbuilt ones I just took it. However I wonder whether we could just have some different animals in BoBS. Not like fantasy werewolves or sth., but maybe there is some species of jaguars which is just smaller and looks... well, just like that?- 12 replies

Ok, where should I start? Let's just list it: Nice beach, nice algae, nice turtle, nice water. Solid rockwork. Amazing vegetation. Nice photography and presentation. Fitting minifigs. Great work on the "rails" under the cannons - I love that design. My favourite part, though, is how you integrated the fortification into the terrain, that is just... perfect. Absolutely amazing entry!

A great crowded market scene, and an excellent jon on the photography highlighting all the details. Rumors say that someone knew about that minifig rule in advance and just took his chance. ;)

Hilarious. This uncle has to be the most iconic figure in BoBS already. Please never let sth. bad happen to him.
