  1. I have a feeling that this thread is not so hypothetical as you are trying to making it seem Anyway, here's my question: DISCONTINUED PARTS Which discontinued part (which won't come back for whatever reason) do you miss being able to use? To illustrate, I really liked for smaller wheels, but it's incompatible with the studless beams' dimensions.
  2. Does it mean that you rely on the flex in the axles itself? How do you avoid permanent deformation? Or is it stiff enough that there is no (or very little) deformation when all the wheels are touching the ground? The black makes it difficult to see details, but I like how clean and straightforward the chassis and axles look, even in the 8x8 configuration. Very impressive! And that cab...
  3. This looks really really good! I'm also not entirely convinced of the dimensions: the cab, while stunning, looks a bit too high in relation to the width and the wheels. However, it may be just the perspective of the photos: the first posted photo looks better than the second, for example. I'm waiting for some good, less artistic, photos The crane is awesome. Really impressive and I'm looking forward to a video! Keep up the good work!
  4. I see. Don't get me the wrong way, it still looks great!
  5. Excellent build! I really liked this set as a kid, although I never ended up buying it. Maybe I should try and then also build this one And I guess you now know what to put on the trailer
  6. Very very nice, well done!
  7. I realise we're waking up an old thread here, but I loved this set as a kid. Seeing the review and pictures again makes me want to rebuild it. Maybe an improved version The B-model is indeed awesome. As a kid I didn't understand that it was "pneumatically programmed", but I sure did enjoy it. Awesome set, my all time favourite!
  8. I love the details, color and chrome on this one! But it seems a bit too high... or is it just the perspective of the photo?
  9. Can't you use only one cylinder and use a beam to connect left and right? That would solve the coordination problem. I don't see why you would have to control left and right on a single axis individually.
  10. This one, I presume: http://sariel.pl/2011/07/photo-processing-tutorial/
  11. I see what you mean! The second photo looks way better. What did you do? Just some balance/saturation/... settings or did you actively edit the photo (remove background/shadows...)? I need to learn how to do this
  12. You might be right about the "visibility" of the mechanics. Everything was inside... Regarding the photos: I was actually really proud of them On my computer (MacBook with Retina screen) they look really good in my opinion: on the final photo of the harvester a few posts above here I can see even the black details of the cab and the lifting mechanism under it. But I guess I should take some effort to learn more about my camera. Usually I just use the "auto settings"
  13. Very very nice! You captured the looks of the original very well and I'm impressed that you managed to fit the motors and battery box inside. It would've been nice if the received had been a bit more hidden, but I guess you can't have it all... I really like how you did the front axle, with the links instead of a rack&pinion. Did I see correctly you're using headlight bricks on the drive shaft of the engines? I'm surprised they don't get stuck (or do they and then they just slide a bit?).
  14. Very clever and original! I'm always amazed at what people come up with for novel GBC modules!
  15. I finally had time to look at this creation in more detail. It's wonderful It works so well and looks awesome! It seems that a few parts are slightly out of scale (e.g. the bucket wheel seems bigger in the real machine when compared to the arm), but I think you did great in achieving something that looks to scale, looks good and works well. I'm especially impressed that you managed to balance this beast on a regular turntable. Pro tag well deserved!
  16. That sounds so painfully familiar I'm in the process of moving house and am starting to realise how many parts I have that rarely if ever get used. And I still have 2 large sets and a large MOC that need disassembling...
  17. Thanks I think your right about the B-model. I wasn't too excited about it myself, although I think I did well with the parts that I had available. I initially tried to build a tractor, but in the end I didn't manage to come up with something satisfactory. Makes you realise how hard it must be for TLG designers Thanks I had a lot of fun and am proud of myself for creating something that actually worked as I intended . I'm not worried, just seeking advice on how to improve.
  18. Thanks to all who voted for my creation I also asked after the previous TC8, and I will ask again: where could I have improved? I was quite proud of my creation, and I won't deny I was slight sad to see it "only" made 12th place. The other entries were awesome, of course, so it was a tough competition. I'd just like to learn what I might do to increase the appeal of my builds. I think my style is a bit too old-school maybe, but I'd love to hear your opinions, positive and negative
  19. I was in a similar situation about a year-and-a-half ago, although I still held on to my childhood collection. I found myself in a surplus of old-style studded bricks (and the old colours), and pretty much only a handful of bent liftarms that were on the Space Shuttle and Barcode Scanner Truck. I bought myself 42009 (Mobile Crane MkII), 42023 (Construction Crew), 42029 (Customised Pick-up Truck) and 42043 (Arocs). (And 5571 ) I reckon these sets have given me access to a large variety of parts. Whenever I find myself short of a specific part, I now just order it from Bricklink, since I'm now out of storage space of parting out a whole set
  20. I was wondering what the status was. Awesome, just awesome!
  21. Congratulations to the winners! So many great entries, and a fun contest! Jim: maybe you want to change the first sentence a bit ("...crane contest...")
  22. There are numerous threads on this topic: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=109825 and http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=96653 There are a lot of examples posted in those threads, including mine
  23. I need to pivot an axle between two beams, like in a steering assembly. This part would do the trick if it was only 2 studs instead of 3: I might try Victor's suggestion of clamping it between half-beams instead of regular beams, but other suggestions are welcome
  24. Does this part exists in a friction-less variant? Maybe with axle ends instead of pins? Or something similar?
