  1. Love the hideout! Sneaky pirates - someone should probably do something about them!
  2. As the others have said, that is some seriously fine rigging! I too like the unusual configuration here. A very sleek and beautiful ship! How is it you don't have a ship expert tag!?!
  3. Thank you everyone for the comments. It seems that I'm the only one who felt this one wasn't quite up to standard! The build in retrospect is ok, I think because I had originally planned something a bit grander with additional buildings on climbing up a path on the left hand side, the final product was a bit underwhelming. I built the house back in December when I got back from sea. Then I had to move all my Lego back home and my new building space, although custom designed is a bit smaller than I was used to (mainly as I have to share it with my 7 year old who seems to be on YouTube everytime I have time for Lego!). Basically I think it just got stale, I lost motivation and just wanted it done. Also after having spent three months at sea wanting to build, only to finally get back and get a serious case of builders block (pun intended!), yeah I just wasn't feeling it! Hope that makes sense. Yeah this is a constant problem for me! Because I like such a clean background I tend to get a lot of washout. My GIMP skills aren't really up to scratch when it comes to editing out the background and replacing it with a different colour. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. I really should probably focus on better photos to start with :) Funnily enough I did consider this, and it bothers me too! Thanks Garm, yeah with the border it is 34x34. Like most of my builds, it only really works from the one angle - although this one has a limited interior for the gun racks. I am determined the current GoH build I'm working on will be detailed for a full 360 degree views! Thanks! Thanks Kai. Yep you got it - they are (mostly) the five stalk pieces with a bright green flower piece on the ends with the leaf attached to the flower.
  4. I'm a bit late to the party, but I have a Brickforge violin, as seen in this early BoBS MOC: In case you were still wavering I thought it might help to see it used in a MOC. (I probably should use it more.... as I think this was the one and only time I have done!)
  5. Fantastic war elephant! I particularly like the use of the ladder pieces to create a lightweight looking platform. The barding is really nicely done as well.
  6. I really love this mill! That's a great technique for the upper half and I'd like to give it a try one of these days! I especially like the fence piece with the clear plates as the back window. Great landscape as well, keep up the good work!
  7. An armoury for Spudkirk. Licensed as a medium artisan.
  8. During the recent raid on Spudkirk by the Lotii, the warehouse where all the settlements small arms were stored was burnt to the ground. This prompted authorities to decentralise the logistics system in Spudkirk and disperse supplies around many smaller locations. One of these locations is located on the wharves down in the sheltered cove that makes the main anchorage. Here a Royal Navy Petty Officer watches over a group of sailors unloading gunpowder kegs from a visiting warship. Meanwhile an Army officer discusses the raid with his Navy counterpart. The officers move inside, where a Highland Grenadier displays the armouries supply of muskets - enough for an entire half-company and complete with powder and shot. The garrison will not be taken by surprise again! ____ I started this one before Christmas and it's taken me a while to find the motivation to finish it. I'm not entirely happy with the result but it is time to clear it away and start something new! I wanted to try the bley/dark bley plates under the trans light blue tiles for water. I think it came out ok. Will be licensed in Spudkirk and is also a GoC build for Task 11 - Strategic Outposts. A WIP shot:
  9. Thanks Merc! Because I was enjoying some figure building, here are some further examples of Lotii Troops!
  10. Captain Dee, my apologies for not replying sooner, I was waiting to be able to take some photos! Sir Dirk would be honoured to attend. If they can be accommodated, Sir Dirk will be accompanied by Miss Ella Hutchins. Sir Dirk would likely change out his normal fatigue uniform coat for his dress uniform and Miss Hutchins will wear a suitable dress for such an occasion and not her normal field attire! Here the couple can be seen dressed for a similar formal occasion. Furthermore, the following leadership characters would also be honoured to attend: Sir Lachlan Campbell, Under-secretary of Discovery, Parliament of Science. (I really need to do a character banner for him some time!) Really looking forward to seeing this project! Thanks for inviting us all to share in the story.
  11. Hey everyone! It's been a long time in the making but Challenge III will be announced on Saturday 1st February! In response to feedback we have prepared a Era one style challenge very similar to Challenge V 'Princes of Garvey'. There will be 5 categories with different due dates and hopefully the challenge will have something to appeal to all! No not yet, the challenge is actually ready to go now, one of the reasons we have postponed to February is to try and get descriptions for the Kingdom of the Lotus and Carno released. With your permission, I may adapt your flag for the Lotii - it's very nice!
  12. oh well, they still look great anyway!
  13. Yep, have to agree with the comments above, that rockwork is awesome! The buildings are great too and the minifigs well posed. Great street lamp design aswell. Are the guys with bandannas the Lotii? Hopefully I'll have my Spudkirk build done soon to add to strengthening the colony.
  14. Very nice shot tower LM71. Are those white masonry profile bricks? OMG please tell me they are a real thing!!!! I like the use of the classic diagonal wall pieces to create the more rounded look of tower which is well complimented by the structures at the bottom. Great details and I like the shots of the employees measuring and sorting the rounds.
  15. Fastest shipping ever! Seriously, they must of strapped it to a supersonic jet with priority customs clearance! Now I need to actually get building again! I know it may be considered sacrilege to some, but I've always generally preferred the moulded animals. Deer are number one on my wishlist (the cartoon-ish Sven from the Frozen line doesn't count), although I'd love to see kangeroos... (will never happen!) That is a fantastic Ewe-boat @dr_spock!
  16. Lovely mill Capt Wolf. I completely sympathise with the roof join issues! The building looks so much better with the more complex roof design but it's so hard to get the join right. In this case I actually think the you've done it well. You could perhaps run a line of 1x1 tiles down over the crack like on the top of the roof, yet I suspect this would detract from the clean lines. Another great mill from you!
  17. Great build LM71, is it your biggest in bricks for BoBS so far? The storehouse itself has a unique and pleasing shape and the cliff and vegetation are both well done. I probably need to get around to actually finishing my Spudkirk build... between moving, the holidays and the bushfires things have been a little hectic around here!
  18. Well, some time ago this build by @Capt Wolf made me desperately want to get some BrickForge sheep. I happened to notice the other day that after a long wait they are now back in stock! So look out for some sheep related builds as soon as I am building again (and shipping from the US eventually turns up)!
  19. Thanks for the positive comments all! I use BlueRender 0.0.0.6beta with Bublible's Sunflow Mod (BUSUFL). Only problem is it's an older version of BUSUFL that doesn't seem to be available any more on the website. I should still have the executable file somewhere but when I last tried to email it someone Outlook had a meltdown like I was trying to email a virus or something!
  20. I'll second what has already been said about the whale skeleton! It's a fantastic build and a very original concept for a church. If the Abbe ever finds himself in Jameston he's welcome to visit the pious at my attempt at a temple of Poseidon!
  21. A great scene to complete the Academy! The boat house is simply beautiful - the perfect balance of clean lines and detail. You are seriously a master of this style! I love the boats as well, especially the larger one. Great custom torso on the first instructor.
  22. A fascinating concept for a Naval academy and really well executed as well! The clean courtyard and tiling for the pool water make it look so bright and inviting. I almost envy those cadets pushing the models around! The style compliments Capt Wolf's builds well (I do love a good collab!) but at the same time has your own distinctive polish. Great work and well deserving of the 'Royal' status. Yes, yes I was That is an idea I would never have thought of... they turned out really well! One day I really must expand my knowledge of GIMP techniques past the basics!
  23. Great work on such an impressive and grand building - well fitting of a Royal property for Eslandola! The way you have done the tan crossed anchors and shield is fantastic and really gives the facade an identity as a Naval building. I also particularly like the window and balcony designs. The marching cadets, well maintained parade ground with cannon and flag pole instantly remind me of any number of Naval bases I've been on. Great work!
  24. Congratulations @LM71Blackbird for completing Task 2 - The Oaken Shield and earning the title 'Master Naval Shipwright'!
  25. Xebec's are one of my favourite types of vessels on the brick seas (and a type I had no idea existed before I joined BoBS!). This one doesn't disappoint with it's slick shape and beautiful sails. For me with my limited sailing ship knowledge, it checks all the 'essential' features of a Xebec with the angled masts, triangular sails and overhanging forecastle. In my eye it appears a little angular, although I think that would be difficult to change at this scale and I can't think of any constructive advice to make to correct this. A lovely addition to the brick seas and a from me for GoC
