  1. Simply beautiful and instantly recognisable as your style - I love the way you somehow blend classic and modern techniques. The landscaping is very well done and I think building up the height of the tower really lifted the whole build. That water is great as well and must have taken ages!
  2. All: The settlement tab for the accounts sheets is now up-to-date until 1st July 2020. I'm still working on the accounts tab (so ignore that for now) which will take (potentially a lot) more time. Here is the link to the new October 2019 - July 2020 Account sheet. Mayors of settlements please check your settlements and let me know of any queries/discrepancies. I've been back through the form responces all the way to the start of the game, so it should be fairly accurate. If there are discrepancies please provide me with the links to prove your case. Eg. Newtown has 7 artisans on the sheet but it should be 8, here are the links to all the artisans in Newtown. Note any properties registered on or after 1st July 2020 are not included on this sheet.

  4. An entry for Task 10 'Daily Life of the Myzec': Amanteca Workshop
  5. An amanteca workshop as a medium artisan for Myzectlan.
  6. Three years have now passed since Corrish explorers first made contact with the Myzecs on Cascadia and Colonial Governor Sir Dirk Allcock has finally had the opportunity to return to the city of Myzectlan. He is enjoying touring the city and seeing the lives of the common Myzec in greater detail than he did on his first visit. Today he visits an Amanteca workshop. The Amanteca are a class of artisans who produce feather art. Feathers are prized amongst the Myzec and are even used as a source of currency. The Myzec use them to make many types of objects from arrows, fly whisks, fans, complicated headdresses and fine clothing. This workshop contains several pens used for housing brightly coloured parrots from which feathers can be harvested, although the most beautiful feathers come from trappers who venture out into the jungles beyond the hidden valley to bring back exotic feathers of many colours. Two artisans can be seen here working on a ceremonial head dress. A continuation of my current Myzec series. I've taken @Kai NRG's suggestion from my last build and tried to incorporate another colour into the ground - hopefully the dark tan doesn't clash with the dark tan used for the thatch roof (I think it works??). After my Macuahuitl Craftsman I was looking to do a shield maker and read about the Amanteca which I had never heard of before. As soon as I read that wiki article I knew the Myzec definitely needed them, so here they are! Behind the work table are actually three pens with parrots inside, but that didn't really come out in the pictures which was a bit disappointing. I may need to do some trapping scenes next (I still have four flamingos patiently awaiting a build!). Also I forgot to enter my last build as a GoC build, so I'll just have to do another couple to make up for that! Will be licensed as a medium artisan in Myzectlan.
  7. A macuahuitl craftsman licensed as a small artisan.
  8. Before the arrival of Corlander explorers in Myzectlan, the Myzec had very little skill in working metal. Apart from some primitive copper spear and arrow heads, most of their bladed weapons used prismatic blades made of obsidian or stone. The macuahuitl is the favoured melee weapon of most Myzec warriors. It is a large wooden club embedded with wicked obsidian blades along two edges. The obsidian is razor sharp, although being brittle it is extremely fragile. Even the best made macuahuitl require the blades to be changed regularly. Here a craftsmen specialising in the production of macuahuitl displays his wares to a warrior looking for a replacement weapon. I had a sudden urge this morning to build something Myzec so I threw this together as a result. It was nice to be inspired to build something again - hopefully the feeling will last! I am experimenting with a piece of yellowish card behind this build so that the white bricks aren't washed out (one of my greatest photography issues). I think it worked well... Will be licensed as a small artisan in Myzectlan.
  9. Challenge III Cat C Results Amidst the conflict in the New Haven Sea, a new people have emerged. While the origins of the Tyree'De remain unclear; their thirst for knowledge of Halsoian technology and their ability to adapt this technology are unmatched of all the native peoples seen so far. They remain very discrete about their own homeland and authorities can only surmise that it is somewhere south of El Oleonda. There exact intentions remain unknown - Will they remain peaceful traders, or do they have other plans for the region? Only time will tell! Individual winners: 1st Place: @Ayrlego (Leadership) Intriguing Visitors 1st Place: @Capt Wolf (Leadership) The Tribes of Maldria, and Meeting the Tyree'De 1st Place: @Ross Fisher A'Chua's People 2nd Place: @Faladrin Tyree'De Pearl dealers 3rd Place: @Keymonus We are all gone Leadership are in-eligible for prizes and compete only for the glory of their faction. Thus first, second and third place prizes go to Ross Fisher, Faladrin and Keymonus. Faction Places at the end of Cat C Eslandola: 1st Sea Rats: 2nd Oleon: 3rd Corrington: 4th
  10. Feel free to activate as soon as you'd like! There is no requirement to wait until the end of the challenge.
  11. !!!IMPORTANT!!! We are currently working on an temporary fix to the EGS accounts. As you will be aware, the complexity of the sheets has caused some issues that we have not been able to manage. The last accurate account sheet was 2019 Sep-Oct. To simplify things, we need to make some changes. The first and most obvious step is to conduct an audit on the 124 'citizen' accounts. I (generously) estimate we only have about 41 (relatively) active players. Here is the full list of 124 citizens who hold EGS accounts. The ones considered 'inactive' for EGS purposes are highlighted in red. My proposal is that we 'freeze' inactive accounts as at the 2019 Sep-Oct Account Summary. If inactive players with 'frozen' accounts wish to rejoin the EGS in future, they will be re-inserted with the values that they held at the 2019 Sep-Oct summary. This will make the sheets smaller and easier to manage meaning we can go back to having a working EGS. Can I ask everyone to have a look at the sheet and correct any wrong assumptions I have made. You can do this by commenting on the sheet or contacting me either here or via PM. Thank you all EDIT: PS If you are a new player who doesnt appear on the Sep-Oct 2019 list and wish to participate in the EGS, can you please also let me know. Cheers
  12. Challenge III Cat B Results As the conflict continues to rage on El Oleonda, the exact causes remain unclear. What has become apparent is that El Oleonda offers many forms of riches, from ancient ruins filled with gold and precious stones, to fertile soils and unique crops. With more Madrician nations now competing for resources and influence in the area and more troops pouring onto the island, surely the conflict can only heat up from this point... Individual winners: 1st Place: @A_Goodman The Temple of Thabthim 2nd Place: @Ayrlego (Leadership) The non-spectatular secrets of Oleonda 2nd Place: @merc The Philosophers Stone 3rd Place: @Bregir (Leadership) A different kind of tea... 3rd Place: @Keymonus Something Worth Dying For Leadership are in-eligible for prizes and compete only for the glory of their faction. Thus first, second and third place prizes go to A_Goodman, merc and Keymonus. Faction Places at the end of Cat B Eslandola: 1st Sea Rats: 2nd Corrington: 3rd Oleon: 4th We've decided not to post the exact scores so that we can keep some suspense, although at this stage the difference between most of the scores is measured in decimal points...
  13. It's like it was made for us!!!
  14. Interesting... I have that head, I may have to try that. I was thinking of getting a custom piece printed from one of those places that do pad printing... they are sooooo expensive though and I'd need at least two as Dirk usually travels all over the world we me!
  15. As usual I love your figure combos; the Totenköpfe are especially cool and the inclusion of the revolutionaries as mercenaries is a great way to advance their story. The texture and detail on the temple is amazing and the curved roof is unique. I think the vegetation works well with the scene, you've certainly made excellent use of a relatively small amount. Plant pieces are a weakness for me... I've largely overcome the urge to impulse buy minifig parts but I'm still a sucker of plant pieces! I've added Essen to the Carno entry in Jameis Farstrider's Guide. Let me know if you want me to add anything further - maybe a couple of sentences with a description? Inspired by the historical figure or the Nilfgaardian Field Marshal? I think for any English speaker with a general awareness of history post the industrial revolution, Popular Front or Front Populaire sounds very revolutionary. My first thoughts are definitely of European revolutionaries and to me it fits the military wing of the Society. Brigade Rouge works as well! :)
  16. A great battle scene which makes you feel very immersed in the action. I like the use of the new hair/tricorne piece for the redcoats. Nice to see the Rifle's in action as well. Nice work!
  17. Very colourful work Brickwolf and a nice way to represent BoBS in the Eurobricks Flower Show.
  18. Great entry Legonaut. I still really love your use of fleshies on the redcoats - makes me want to change to fleshies for BoBS - if only Dirk's face came in fleshie!!!! The build is well executed and flawlessly presented. I like the little details such as the way you have textured the masonry at the base of the building. The building while simple is perfect I think for a depiction of a simple Lotii house in the colonies. Great work.

  20. It was easy to hide in the shadows of the dark walkways down in the dockside districts of Illaryian. The buildings pressed up on the canals and in some places even overhung them. The walkways were twisting and narrow. At night the warehouses were mostly empty; however, plenty of life and noise came from the numerous taverns and houses of ill repute. Nicco stood concealed in the shadows, the lamp over the warehouse door next to him was conveniently not lit. His dark clothing allowing him to effortlessly blend into the shadows. Nicco operated almost exclusively in the docklands. Need a warehouse set fire? A sea captain blackmailed? A customs officer bribed? Nicco was your man. Just yesterday he had been approached by a man he had worked for in the past. A factor for one of the great houses he was sure. This man had hired him to arrange for three men to be hired to the crew of the Golden Fortune; the very ship of the Rego himself. To accomplish this task, Nicco had decided to simply remove some of the existing crew at the last minute before sailing and thus open up vacancies. With the ship due for departure, he could then easily arrange for the new men to to be hired by the desperate captain. To was to this end he found himself in the shadows, waiting for two of the Golden Fortune's crewmen to emerge from the adjacent tavern. Just before the bells struck the first hour after midnight, the two men emerged. Both had clearly indulged too much as only sailors can. Indeed both still had bottles in hand as they staggered from the Tavern's door. A cargo gondola glided past carrying more barrels of wine to another tavern while across the canal a richly dressed bravo escorted a butterfly of the night to his lodgings. As Nicco slipped out of the shadows towards the men, he was confident even the watchmen in the nearby tower would not see him dispatch the sailors. By the time they were found, the Golden Fortune would have sailed with his client's men safely onboard. All in an easy night's work!
  21. I'm really loving the base of this one, both the SNOT texturing and the irregular (yet square) border shape. The texture on the building is amazing as well. Great job!
  22. Brilliant story, really enjoyable! I definitely got a bit of a French-Indian Wars vibe with some of the descriptions. Fantastic work!
  23. @Keymonus I don't think we have ever really developed any official lore for those regions. Personally I've always thought of Balondia as Irish, indeed one of my secondary characters is from Balondia and speaks with an Irish type accent... however now that the lore has been developed for that part of the Madrice Peninsular, it seems there are two main cultures in the area; a Mediterranean(Spanish/Italian) type culture (Eslandola/Mardier/Namere) and a more Germanic/Nordic/Dutch culture (Garvey/Altonia/Carno). I think we even hint in one of the write ups that the Mediterranean inspired culture were the original inhabitants and the Germanic styles came later in a wave of migration. So with that all established, your assumption of Malta/Gibraltar would seem to make more sense than Irish (the closest culture we have to Irish is probably Varcoast). I think you'd be pretty safe to depict Balondia either way. As for the little island above Mardier... I'm not sure we even have a name for it. I think it may be the Isle of Tam that is mentioned at the start of this thread but @Bregir may be able to confirm that? (If we do I really should do a map....) I certainly don't recall any previous builds but I've generally thought of those islands above our Northern coast and that one of Mardier as being somewhat Scandinavian like the Faroe Islands or maybe the Shetland Islands. The Northern coast of the mainland I think it is pretty safe to say is exactly how you describe it - a Scottish inspired region of clans and highlands.
  24. Barracks Stage 1: Summer Sparring
  25. Previously... Almost two years ago... As Yngvi, Erik and Irissa travel west towards Thorshaven, Irissa has began to train Yngvi in swordcraft. As a young cyclops, Irissa was trained by a Elven fencing master; albeit one with a slightly twisted sense of humour. Cyclopes are not a race known for their grace and agility; far from it, the common stereotype of a cyclops will always be one of a heavy handed brute. So to take a young cyclops and through years of training turn her into a master swordsmen... this amused the Elven master greatly. Yngvi himself has never been a swordsmen. The mighty Mitgardian battle axe is his preferred weapon in the brutal shield-wall fighting he is accustomed to. He has always wanted to learn and admires those he served with the the fyrd who do have the skill. So early every morning before breaking camp, he spars with Irissa. Although he expected her to concentrate on teaching him sword techniques, he is surprised that she equally focuses on speed, balance and agility. Thus the forests of southwestern Mitgardia provide an excellent training ground as the pair almost dance over fallen logs and rocky outcrops. It is a hard, exhausting start to each already long day, but Yngvi feels it will be worth it in the end. So after almost a year and a half I am attempting to restart Yngvi's story! Just a quick AoM build to try and get back into GoH building. Tried out a new tree trunk technique from here. Hopefully some more coming soon!
