A very pleasant scene which to me really conveys the sense of what I think a peaceful spring day in Mitgardia would be like.Excellent presentation as usual, I'm a big fan of your work!

Deadline Update: Cat D deadline changed to 28 June 2020 to allow for another MRCA to be run for the MRCA component of the challenge. Cat E remains 31 May 2020. Front page updated. Also: As the conflict heats up in the New Haven Sea region, more news is filtering back to Colonial authorities throughout the Brick Seas. From the reports of Corlander, Eslandolan, Oleon, Carnite and even Sea Rat explorers; Corlander master cartographers have updated their maps of the region with the most recent Halosian claims and known Lotii settlements. Copies of their maps are now freely circulating throughout the Brick Seas.

Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Ayrlego replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I would say yes, muzzle loading, flintlock rifled muskets have been invented but are not in widespread use. However, the Minié ball (which was not invented until the 1840s), percussion caps and breach loaders would be out of the time frame for BoBS which is more 17-18 Century. Generally anything after about 1815 is considered too 'modern' for BoBS. See here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rifled_musket -
Nice gunboat Legonaut and the simple water technique is surprisingly effective at really making the scene 'pop'! For the boat itself the stern looks a little sharp (if that makes sense?) I think tapering it a bit might have made the shape look more natural. Very clever oar design (it took me a close look to figure out how you attached the shutter to the shaft - with a lever piece - genius!!!!) and I also love the brick built cannon. from me

[GoC - COR] Cocovian Watchtower
Ayrlego replied to Sir Kingston's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Another strong GoC entry Sir Kingston. Like others have mentioned I also like the 'classic' feel of this one. The construction scene makes a nice change to completed structures. For the next GoC build I'd like to see some more work on the rocks as they look a little unnatural. Introducing some more plates, slopes or even tiles and bulking them up a little would probably work. A from me. Have you considered changing the location to Hussar's Isle? It's a small island located in the northern reaches of Cocovia and the style of the tower I think fits with what Bregir has already built there. Just an idea - not sure if you had seen that settlement which could definitely use some love! -
[GoC - COR] Raid on Cocovian Smugglers
Ayrlego replied to Sir Kingston's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Nice looking redcoats Sir Kingston and a great start to the GoC challenge. I'm not sure what level your collection is at, but to improve the scene the only recommendation I have would be to prehaps vary the levels a little by adding extra plates and vegetation. A slightly steeper slope between the ocean and the beach would I think lift the scene slightly. You could also try some transparent plates of tiles over the top of the blue water? All minor things. Does Lieutenant Karlton take some inspiration from Richard Sharpe by any chance? from me for GoC -

Woops! I took a photo but forgot to add it.... -
My apologies all, I have fallen behind with updating the GoC. It's now back on my radar and I'll attempt to have it up-to-date by the end of the month.

Beautiful work Professor and a very welcome addition to the RSNP. The mirco looks fantastic but for me it's the Doctor's medicine case that steals the show - that is inspired! The Brickbuilt office is also very well done with the pleasing use of neutral colours and those very beautiful chairs that I may just copy one day...

[GoC - Redccoats Rule] Brickford Landing Field Camp
Ayrlego replied to Brickwolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Nice work Brickwolf. The scene is simple yet convincing and the tent is especially nicely done. As Beleg mentions I think that breaking up the exposed green studs of the base would improve the scene. Perhaps using some more variation in plate height and colour and maybe some more vegetation? Maybe some earthy coloured plates/tiles such as reddish brown or dark tan might have given a more trampled feel around the campfire/tent. Like Silentwolf mentioned I also appreciate the use of the vegetation as a background although I do agree with his comments on an additional tree/bush. from me. -

I am really enjoying your entries Faladrin and this latest one is no exception. Beautiful take on a native outrigger. The yellow and red decorations are particularly eye catching. Great minifigs as well! -
Settlement: Spudkirk, Avestia, Corrington
Ayrlego replied to Spud The Viking's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
A medium commercial scene showing traders on the bustling docks of Spudkirk. Licensed as a medium commerce in the name of the settlement. -
Sterling Blackwood lent forward on the balcony overlooking the crowded docks and concentrated on an exchange going on below. Two somewhat shady figures were busy demonstrating the functions of what appeared to be a second-rate Eslandolan trade musket to a group of potential buyers. It was the buyers that aroused the interest of Blackwood. Alerted by a friend; Blackwood was investigating the three strange looking traders who were absorbed in the salesmen's pitch. It was reported that they had appeared in the settlement a couple of days before. Seemingly flush with silver and speaking broken Corrish, the two men and one women wore a strange assortment of clothing which seemed to be of mixed Halosian and native origin. Although clearly not natives of Avestia, no one could seem to say where exactly they originated from. When pressed they became somewhat evasive and refereed to themselves as 'the Tyree’De' and describe their origin as being 'to the south'. They appear to very interested; not in the trade trinkets that have seemed to fascinate the native peoples of the New World up to this point, but rather in Halosian manufactured goods and tools such as the musket on display. This was not the first report Blackwood had heard of such encounters. Indeed it seemed that these people were turning up in Halosian settlements across the New Haven Seas. It was; however, the first time he had managed to witness them first hand. An idea was starting to form in his head... perhaps to the south of the immense island of Oleonda lay a civilisation somewhat more technologically advanced than those encountered so far. If this was the case, then surely the Royal Society of Navigation and Discovery and indeed the Crown of Corrington itself would be interested. Blackwood moved towards the streets. It was time to meet these 'Tyree'De' firsthand...

Very clean looking build, the timber and wattle sections are beautiful, especially the ornate gables. I also quite like the landscaping. Nice work!

Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion, Era II
Ayrlego replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Although we are now at peace, Corrington and Oleon last fought each other approximately ten years ago in the Juniper Wars, which occurred in the Juniper Province in the border areas. Oleon won the war and the province is now part of Oleon. Some players have built scenes that are flashbacks to that conflict which may allow you to build a Red vs Bluecoat scene? -

A Halosian settlement or the high seas are just suggestions. Feel free to be as creative as you want. The only stipulation is that the meeting should take place at a location on the the New Haven Seas map. On Oleonda would definitely be ok.

I won't get a chance to process entries until the weekend, so if no one violently objects, I'd be happy to extend the deadline until midnight Friday.
