  1. Great little ship Silentwolf - it's amazing how good you can make that prefab rowboat look! I too love the mint parrot!
  2. Fantastic looking fort Legonaut and a great addition to Port Woodhouse. This is exactly the scale of grand fortifications I had in mind for the settlement. I like how you only made a section of the fort - I think it allows you to capture the fort at the right scale without the project being too large. The surf on the beach is very nicely done; especially the debris at the high tide mark. The angles of the star fortifications are perfect. Great job all round!
  3. Lovely scene Garm, I especially like all the bright greenery and the way you've layered it. The way the boardwalk curves really adds to the scene as well.

  5. Tower Phase 2: Spring Watchtower
  6. As spring blooms in Mitgardia people the roads and tracks connecting the villages, towns and summer pastures come to live again with bustling traffic. Some people drive their livestock to the higher summer pastures while seasonal traders move amongst the towns and villages. Along the way the local fyrds begin to man both temporary outposts and longer term sturdy wooden watchtowers constructed to watchover the roads during the warmer months. Over time some of the more permanent towers have been decorated by craftsmen serving time in the fyrd so that they now resemble something well beyond the original functional structure constructed. Some even have become local landmarks. In this example, the militiamen have somewhat neglected trimming the small trees blooming around the tower as the bright blossom makes a pleasant backdrop for their duty. The tower remains functional however, offering a clear view of the road and surroundings. ____________________ After almost six months away from my bricks I'm very excited to be back, although it very frustratingly took me several days of 'building' block to finally start something I was happy with! I've been wanting to start with some castle building and this years Summer Joust categories provided some great motivation! A wooden AoM tower seemed like a good opportunity for this years no bley category and I've wanted been wanting to experiment with some brighter foliage for a while (the weird green colour leaves are Alt Bricks). Although I was more than a little tempted to go back to an autumn scheme that I've used before, in the end I gave into the desire to use colour and this is a compromise between my desire to go wild and my compulsion to keep the vegetation somewhat realistic!!! Hopefully it works...! Anyway it's great to be back building again!
  7. I haven't replied on Flickr but I'm in! For those who aren't familiar with the Summer Joust, it's an annual castle based building competition hosted on Flickr. This years thread can be found here.
  8. Great little scene Legonaut, thanks for helping out. I’m loving the fleshie redcoats!
  9. @Phred thanks!
  10. Hi @Phred / @Captain Genaro , I think the sheets might be broken? I’ve registered two properties this week which haven’t yet shown up. thanks!
  11. A Gallows and Brickworks for Port Woodhouse
  12. Port Woodhouse is known for its whitewashed stucco buildings, constructed from local clay fired bricks, rendered and white washed. Until now, the bricks had been made in small batches for individual projects as required. As the settlement grows however, the need for bricks continues to increase past the this capacity. Luckily good quality clay is plentiful, so the military administration has commissioned a brickworks to mass produce bricks to meet this growing need. Here the clay is shaped, soaked and dried then fired into high quality bricks. With a now study supply of bricks, perhaps the settlement will emerge from it's sleepy growth and continue to grow in size. ________ A LDD build I have been working on over the last couple of weeks. Quite possibly the last in a while depending on how my laptop goes with rendering.... To be licensed as a large factory in Port Woodhouse
  13. As the Corlander settlements in the Paradise Isles grow, so does the commerce in the region. The shipping lanes connecting the old world with the large commercial settlements of Jameston and Mesabi Landing are busy with traffic conveying goods to and fro. Unfortunately, with this increase in commerce comes too an increase in piracy. The Corlander authorities have had to erect a permanent gallows in Port Woodhouse to deter such lawless curs from attacking Her Majesties subjects. Here one such pirate captain meets his end! ___________________ A gallows I've had constructed for quite sometime. In an effort to tidy up my work bench before I left for sea last week I finished it of for presentation. Not my best or most interesting work this was something I was originally saving for an MRCA result. However my bench was long overdue for a good tidy and sorting. Unfortunately I still have two half finished projects much larger in size waiting for me when I get back in June - I just couldn't quite complete them in time!
  14. Hi @Phred, when you get a chance can you please create an account for @Legonaut ? Thanks!
  15. Previously on Days of our Brethren of the Brick Seas... "Oopsy-doopsy... the initial official response of the Wayfarer Trading Company, a company that holds a Royal Charter no less, is Oopsy-doopsy... I can not even fathom such a response, is the man feeble of mind?" asked an astounded Brigadier Sir Andrew Howe, shaking his head. "I believe it is some sort of patois acknowledging a mistake, perhaps the Count picked it up on his southern travels... but it gets worse Sir." added an equally bemused Colonel Sir Dirk Allcock. Brigadier Howe had recently arrived in Jameston to personally investigate the most recent outrages committed by the WTC. His arrival had corresponded with Colonel Allcock's investigative findings and the pair had convened to discuss the first stages for the dismantling of the WTC beginning with the Military seizing WTC assets in the Paradise Islands including taking control of the settlement of Mesabi Landing. "While the circumstances around the alleged attack of the Sea Rat trade convoy remain somewhat confused, the evidence is unequivocally clear regarding the ah... attack... on Fatu Hiva. Numerous independent reports from Fatu Hiva support the official Olean version of events; that is that the WTC vessel WTC Agnes Y1 wilfully and without provocation fired on the fortifications of Fatu Hiva before being destroyed." Allcock continued. "Hmmph, both Fletcher and I do not accept that the attack on the Rat convoy was a mistake and we both believe it to have been ordered as part of the ongoing WTC vendetta against the Sea Rats." Snorted Brigadier Howe, "However; the Rats do not seem too concerned, it would seem lucky for us that WTC remain military incompetents. That being so, this continued insistence that they can conduct their own foreign relations in contradiction of official policy can not be tolerated. The arrogance of this Mordo scoundrel is astounding - demanding Oleon compensation no less, the fellow must be stark raving mad" "Indeed Sir, mad as a hatter. The WTC seem to think they can act like a nation state, then when their reckless actions get them in trouble, they presume they can hide behind Her Majesties skirts for protection" replied Allcock. "Furthermore because the attacker was a mere rowboat, they are dismissive - nay even scornful - of our concerns." "Oleon will not accept no repercussions for this unprovoked act - and rightly so! We would not accept a foreign sortie against one of our possessions however small, so why should they?" replied Howe. "The Colonial Ministry has authorised not only the revoking of their Royal Charter, but also military intervention to dismantle their private fiefdom on Argentia." "I have correspondence from the Admiral Fletcher committing significant naval forces for the seizure of Mesabi Landing; however, will additional troops be made available Sir? We currently have a company of the 33rd Foot in Mesabi Landing itself, another company of the 33rd in Camp Isaac and the 1st Battalion of the QML in Port Woodhouse. In the event WTC they did oppose us and were successful in disarming the company in Mesabi Landing, we would be facing two medium and a large fort and an unknown quantity of troops of unknown quality. My staff estimate the WTC could probably muster at least two to three battalions of mercenaries of mixed quality to defend Mesabi Landing". "That many... that is... unfortunate. We can likely provide an additional battalion from Arlinsport and the 1st Battalion of the 7th Regiment of Foot is due to arrive here shortly. So we could probably proceed with planning for an assault involving at least three battalions." said Howe. "I'd prefer more Sir, in my experience such fortifications will require us to outnumber the defenders by at least a factor of three." replied Allcock. 'I am sure you will manage Colonel, one of our soldiers must surely be worth at least three WTC mercenaries" "Sir they pay well, It would be unwise to underestimate their resolve to defend what they see as their territory." The discussion was interrupted by the arrive of a junior officer with a letter for Colonel Allcock. "It would seem Count Mesabi has reconsidered his position Sir..." Allcock passed the letter to Howe. Howe read the letter, snorting in places. "This drivel changes nothing. World domination indeed." said Howe dismissively. "It would seem Count Mesabi is beginning to realise the truly serious nature of this incident" Allcock said thoughtfully. "Perhaps we can work with him after all" Before the discussion could continue, a second Officer entered, this time with a dispatch for Brigadier Howe; whose face became increasing red as he digested it's contents. "Ares sweaty bollocks!" exclaimed Howe, uncharacteristically dropping his reserve to use a curse popular among the common soldiers of the army. "How many chances will these scoundrels be given?" Howe stammered. "It appears Count Mesabi has also reached out to the Ministry. They have held off revoking the charter and have ordered us to suspend military intervention for the moment." He handed the dispatch to Allcock who quickly extracted the most relevant section... The decision to revoke the Wayfarer Trading Company's Royal Charter and military intervention has been put on hold pending the WTC's acceptance of the following terms: 1. The WTC is to formally and publicly apologise to the Olean authorities in Fatu Hiva and will pay the settlement 250DB in compensation. (OOC: 1 turn of fort upkeep for Fatu Hiva). 2. The WTC shall fully cooperate with Corlander and Olean authorities in the investigation of this matter. To this end, the survivor of the incident is to be handed over to Crown authorities in Mesabi Landing for independent questioning. 3. The WTC will henceforth abandon attempts to influence Corlander foreign policy. The Company is reminded it's charter is commercial in nature and is advised to focus on strictly commercial activities. Further incidents in Terra Nova contrary to official Corlander policy will not be tolerated and will result in immediate removal of the company's Royal Charter and possible stronger action. "Well Sir, do you think the WTC will actually comply?" asked Allcock, "It would be a large loss of face for them to back down and pay Hochstatter..." "Trying to predict what the WTC will do next is a quick way to madness" replied Howe. "Continue to plan for intervention, I will remain in Jameston until this has been resolved, the Gods only know how the bluecoats will take this...." "I will convey the Ministry's wishes to the WTC" replied Allcock. @Mesabi @Drunknok CC'd @Captain Genaro @Bregir :) Please consider points 1-3 the Crown's conditions.
  16. I like this one Mesabi! The façade has just enough detail to make it interesting without it looking too busy and the dark red highlights look great. The interior is also well detailed and the whole build is a great example for raising troops. I like the cobblestone pathway, it's a definite improvement from plain exposed studs! If you were expanding your collection; however, I'd recommend some assorted bley round tiles (1x1 and 2x2) to give a flatter look. @Legonaut's pathway in his introduction build is a great example of this method.
  17. A very classic pirates vibe here! Nice job with the roof repairs, the details there really add a lot to the scene, especially that open case with the tools. That roof technique is quite effective as well. I also like that the brick built door is functioning. Mine are usually permanently shut! Lots of great details all round from me. Suggestions for improvement; If you had them, some wedges could make the base edges look a little less square and I am a big fan of tiles for the wooden floors - but I understand you are working with a limited collection? I feel the landscaping is definitely on the right track, although if you have more smaller plates then making the path (which is very good as is) a lower level than the surrounding greens would make sense.
  18. Great landscaping Legonaut, really very good with the different tones of sand and the vegetation. The minifig posing is also great. Elos has some great suggestions regarding brightness and contrast, but other than that it is difficult to find anything to fault here!
  19. IMO, Garrison/barracks = residential outpost = fort storehouse = commerce but if you can justify your choice and aren’t obviously ‘gaming’ the system, then it’s pretty flexible
  20. @Legonaut Jameston, Celestia 2 February 619 Dear Mr Edward Brown, I have received correspondence from the authorities in Port Woodhouse notifying me of your arrival and your request for a Commission in Her Majesties Forces garrisoning the Paradise Isles. Having reviewed your qualifications, I would be honoured to offer you a Captaincy in a line infantry company recently arrived at the garrison in Port Woodhouse. Should you wish to accept this offer, please report to the garrison commander in Port Woodhouse to make the arrangements. Whatever your decision, I welcome you to the Paradise Isles and wish you success in your endeavours here in Terra Nova. Yours Sincerely, Colonel Sir Dirk Allcock Colonial Governor of the Paradise Isles
  21. Thanks, no need to do anything, it's all handled. Payment should be in your account.
  22. Brilliant build Tom and well worth the wait. The stonework looks great with the mix of greys and olive and that is an impressive collection of natives making the scene look busy as a market should be. Are those stickers custom? Also I have never seen that female torso before, is it custom as well? All up great job and an excellent addition to Myzectlan. Does the offer to license it for the settlement still stand? Oh and for GoC if you want to be our first foreign entry!
  23. Great intro build Legonaut, it's fantastic to have you here and with Corrington. I especially like the way you have integrated the path into the vegetation here and the fleshie redcoats look great. Looking forward to what comes next.

  25. Mesabi this is easily my favourite work of yours ever. I know you have done bigger etc, but this is wonderfully executed and I think it captures the feel of the previous mangrove builds perfectly. The wooden platforms are masterfully done with the ramshackle nature of the board walks really coming through. All the angles of the walkways and the offset of the building enhance this effect even more. The transition from the water to the shore is wonderful, those cones and round bricks capture the mangrove look very well - almost like the exposed roots or hacked off bits from when they made the building. You may have lacked the parts to replicate the mangroves themselves but you have done a brilliant job with what you have and those roots are well worth coping at some stage. As for the building, it's small but makes up for it in detail. The siding is well executed and the colour scheme is perfect. NPU with the roof elements as well and the usual Mesabi interior to boot. The only thing that bothers me is the mixture of fleshie and yellow... but that's a personal thing (you can't please everyone right?!) Seriously man, if this is and example of what you can do small.... build small everytime! I am really very impressed. Great job!
