Love Nick's Nest! Best hot dogs ever! For me, it's very tempting to go there often since my school is close to there... Excellent MOC, you capture the look and feel of the building very well!

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15 Rumors and Discussion
telaruhn replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Well, it's good to hear that they're around in the US now. I'll be looking for them at TRU and Target sometime this weekend... -
Being that he/shes figure made of molten lava, does Flama's gender really matter in the grand scheme of things? It's already an interesting character regardless of gender...

Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 1 Discussion
telaruhn replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
I feel there are some exceptions to that, such as the Ninjago Venomari with molded heads and a snake tail, technically making them only have 1 out of the 3 traditional minifigure parts (the torso), while still being considered a minifigure. So I would say that it's more important that the head, torso, and legs are minifigure compatible, which is something the skeleton frame is not, as the torso/legs are not compatible with minifigure torsos and legs. So as long as any newly molded heads/torsos/legs have the same connection points as the traditional parts, I would say the world is LEGO's oyster.- 4,155 replies

Nice work! How is the difference in golds on the Flying Warrior? In the picture you took, it doesn't look that bad at all... -
I like the idea of having entrances on both sides. It would solve the problem that I'm seeing with other MODs, where the side without the entrance has a patch of plain bricks because another window wouldn't fit there. Though I bet having a sole entrance right on the corner might solve that problem as well... But I really like your idea, too, and I feel it wouldn't require buying another whole BB if it's modded correctly.

I do like the parts assortment that comes with Pig City Teardown, but I have no interest in the figures. Maybe I'll get lucky and find the set on eBay that is being sold without the figures at a reduced price...

Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 1 Discussion

It's not like Mickey Mouse's proportions are 100% aligned with the silhouette of a minifigure, and that goes for any Disney character for that matter. It's just that some Disney characters are more similar to, and thus better suited for, the minifigure silhouette. With that idea, you could argue that any Disney character can become a "minifigure," but IMO it would have to have the traditional head, torso, or legs to make it considered as such. But who knows - maybe LEGO will push the envelope on what is considered a minifigure, and this series will contain a minifigure that doesn't contain any traditional parts?- 4,155 replies

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 16 Rumors and Discussion

I remember a few people mentioning that the Series 13 Samurai was redundant considering there was Nya, but their similarities ended at them both being female and both sharing the samurai armor and katana. And yet, she was made. The Kendo Fighter by the same token should seem redundant since we got the same parts in Ninjago, too. So with that in mind, I definitely don't think that Nadakhan should be a deciding factor in what the Evil Genie (should it be made) would look like. In any case, I doubt he would have orange skin, four arms, a hook hand, or green armor, so at that point he's already made himself different enough, even with the mentioned hairpiece and leg assembly. Though I do agree that the Genie tail would be more likely, we could consider the Spectre's legs to be a possibility since to me it provides a more sinister effect. The Snake Charmer's turban was nicely done, but I miss having a hole to place a decoration in... It just seems like if the Evil Genie were to have a turban, it would have a hole to provide the same adornment as seen with the S6 Genie. And since that version of the turban is for the most part obsolete to the newer one, I would hope the Evil Genie would instead come with a different headpiece so it's not just another cost-saver... -
Interestingly, those toe prints are exactly like the CMF Space Miner's, except for the color...

The Corner Deli is quite interesting, if only for its selection of Medium Blue (?) and Dark Orange bricks. I also quite like the minifigure parts, especially the torsos. I could see a lot of the parts in it being used for when I mod my Brick Bank, such as that keyboard-printed 1x2 slope which would be used for the 24-Hour ATM I plan to add, and the dark orange bricks for the upstairs above my separated laundromat...

Same. I'm still finding Series 13 in places, too, so maybe this delay is a good thing so they can finally sell some of their overstock of past series. I think that LEGO should have anticipated the Monsters minifigures would be more popular around Halloween and had them distributed until November at the latest, since any later than that would make them seem out of season. But like others have said, maybe they anticipated that the Monsters would be popular and made too many... I dunno. There's likely a number of factors that play into it. -
I agree with the NPU - are those green bicycle helmets as bushes? Ingenious!

I am loving that laundromat MOD! It almost motivates me to buy two BBs so I can make a MOD myself, since I want the laundromat to be easily viewed from the front street alongside my PR modular. Hopefully I'll be able to do that once I get the PS before it retires... In its place, I'll probably convert the area into a 24-hour ATM room, for people who need money after the bank closes. I'll try to preserve the money laundering function there for the sake of the robbers, maybe by making one of the ATM machines out-of-service like they did with the washing machine. One can dream...

Prison Island looks amazing. It feels very fresh and different from usual stuff IMO, though the Swamp Police stuff from this past year was also pretty unique. I like the variety of figures it comes with - but why do we not get the hat from the CMF S9 Policeman? I mean, it's nearly the same part but the badge on the hat is actually part of the mold instead of being printed on like we see on this version. That;s only a minor quibble, really. Also glad to some cool prisoner - and legs with the chain-gang print!

What a cute little village! I love the use of palm leaves as the Christmas tree! All of the buildings, especially the church, are great as well. Great job on the landscaping, too!

Definitely planning to pick up an Ultimate Lavaria - She's by far the best one out of all the Ultimates IMO and the only Ultimate where I like all the Nexo Powers. I quite like all of them, though, namely Clay for those trans-blue blades, Macy for the six-stud shooter and 1x1 pyramid pieces on her mace, and Robin with silver wariant of that armor. Beast Master interests me the least, but I may still pick him up to get a second evil version of the shield along with Lavaria's.

I will say the S15 packaging looks nice, though I'm not a fan of how they photoshopped the front row. In particular, why is the Wrestling Champion holding the trophy like that?! and why did they just impose the Laser Mech's sword so it's floating in the air behind him instead of him holding it? Just looks odd IMO. Well, at least the back row of figures look great. -

I feel like that's a clever way for them to release the figures in February... Series 15 wasn't in the January 2016 catalog I got in the mail, unlike Series 13 which was in last year's catalog. And the Series 15 listing isn't on the US S@H website. So things do not bode well for those in the US hoping for a January release... Interesting to hear about Target, though - maybe that's the only store chain that's gotten the figures? Would be weird IMO, since I'm sure a lot of boxes have been made, so maybe it's more of a distribution problem. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 16 Rumors and Discussion

True, I could see that as well. But after getting a whole new hairpiece for the Faun when it was believed he would just reuse the Gargoyle's headpiece, it makes me think LEGO isn't afraid to make different kinds of new molds even though they would end up looking similar. Though I am totally for a ZC pigtails recolor, and a new baby bottle mold, though the construction of one using existing parts as CM4Sci mentioned wouldn't be a bad idea either. I guess it just depends on what ends up being the new mold(s) on her, if any. -

Thanks for the info, CM4Sci! Secret Agent = Ultra Agent reject? A James Bond-type character? I hope he/she has something to make them interesting/unique. Feels a little quick coming right after the Jewel Thief, who feels a bit secret agent-y herself. Maybe this is the character who's getting the headpiece printed on the face, which was going to go with the Concierge when it was thought to be a female hotel attendant? Spooky Boy would be cool, obviously a counterpart to Spooky Girl, but hopefully doesn't come with a teddy. Babysitter!? Not entirely convinced this could be a minifigure, but it would seem she (I'm guessing, teenage girls I know are babysitters) could come with a baby that isn't the Tribal Woman's papoose mold. IMO it would be great for them to do that so we have a baby for historical use and one for modern use. -

I agree, there are some male figures that don't necessarily require an opposite-gendered counterpart, and vice versa. In some of the existing cases, they did it to increase the mileage of existing specialized parts, such as the Lifeguards, the Clockwork Robots, or the Cyclopes. So I feel like the possibility is still always there even without considering the re-usage of a part. For Space, I wouldn't mind another female, seeing as we only have Intergalactic Girl and the Alien Villianess as CMFs. Though I am unsure if she would be different enough to make her interesting other than the fact that she is a female... And I would hope she isn't too pink... For blue collar workers, I feel that most depictions of Mechanics, Plumbers, Welders, Carpenters, etc. are male, and that's why I can see why LEGO made those figures male, but it doesn't justify them not making any of them female since females could work those jobs as well. It goes back to what I said before - if they wanted a female to portray that character, they would make it so. That said, I wouldn't mind a Rosie-the-Riveter type of female working a blue collar job, as it would be a fantastic reference to propaganda from prior eras where more women would work those types of jobs while the men were away fighting in the war. I think an Imp figure is a great idea as long as it's clearly meant to be an Imp without any satanic references. In other words, I doubt this figure will be a Devil Costume, as it's clearly meant to represent a devil, and I don't think making it a costume would lessen the blow, so to speak. IIRC, some depictions of Satan have him with the parts of a goat, and since we now have a Faun amongst the CMF lineup, I guess religion isn't really THAT big of an issue in the consideration of new figures. I guess I'm also conglomerating a devil and the Devil, but that's for the sake of simplicity. All that being said, I really hope the Imp reuses the Gargoyle wings, but I don't think a new tail would be necessary to bring the idea across. I guess it would depend on what kind of accessories he ends up holding, if any, since I'm sure he'll come with a new hairpiece. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
telaruhn replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Got the PR for Christmas, and put it together that day. As my first modular, I have to say I'm really impressed with all the details and the mini-builds required to make those details, such as the white pillars and the dumpster on the first floor, the front window assemblies on the second floor and the decorative croissant-shell-things on the roof. I also LOVE all the olive green, to the point where I'm almost considering getting another PR so I have some basic olive green bricks to build with as well as other really nice parts. In the future, I plan to also get the DO, BB, and possibly the PS if it's still for sale. I'm not really a fan of the PS in particular, but I want smaller baseplates so I can try to make my own modular building... And I figured I would start with a smaller building for my first go :) -

Excited for Ursula. 90% sure she'll get a new mold for her legs, since it feels unlikely to get the Atlantis Squid Warrior leg mold. Getting her but not Ariel in minifigure form would be a shame, in my opinion. Also cool to see some of the upcoming hairpieces. I bet they'll look great on other figures, as well!- 4,155 replies

Not from what I've seen, unfortunately. Everything molded so far is pearl gold, not considering chromed parts since those use a different technique for the chrome effect. And both pearl and chrome metallics are vastly different from the spray-on metallics. The technology for the desired gold-ness just doesn't seem to be there yet.
