  1. That would have been unlikely since the gold color is painted on the Gladiator's helmet and not molded. The inside of the Gladiator helmet is dark nougat, meaning the part was molded in a base color before the metallic is sprayed on, similar to the trophies of the Soccer Player and Hollywood Starlet, as well as the Conquistador's helmet and armor. The previously mentioned parts' connection points are left unsprayed since it would wear off after a while, and they get away with it because the connection points are hidden from view in normal cirumstances. To that end, I don't think the spray-on metallics can work for parts like the Flying Warrior's wings and spear, where they can potentially have areas of wear at visible connection points that would show the base color underneath. Thus, the Flying Warrior would have to have his parts molded in that pearl gold color to keep things consistent. Now mind you, it still doesn't explain the mismatch in the molded colors, but that may have to do with when and how those parts were molded. I don't know if we've ever had a pearl gold torso or legs, but those parts and the helmet are the ones that differ from parts that had already been made in pearl gold (the armor, wings, and spear) so that may play a role in the mismatch.
  2. It's a bit ridiculous that they're so inconsistent with the release date. About the Flying Warrior in the picture - He does look awesome there, but he's not the only figure that gives off the wrong impression. The Laser Mech's sword does NOT look like that at all. It's just disappointing to see how non-representative the renders are of the actual figures. It's clear that the helmet, torso and legs of the Flying Warrior were produced at a different time or in a different manner than the rest of him, hence the difference in colors. This has led me to want to try out a few things when I nab one: 1. give him white wings 2. give him a gold-tipped spear and shield (surprisingly the Battle Goddess' or Warrior Woman's would work for him) or a different gold weapon 3. remove the armor entirely and use a different assembly for the wings The color differences may not be so drastic if he has less gold.
  3. For the most part, I think yes. 6 will probably be the maximum amount of females we will see in any series, as the Minifigures theme seems to be more catered to males, and most males prefer to play as their own gender. But the inclusion of females is still there to appease those who were prefer a female figure. I still think they've come a long way, since they only had a measly 2 females in Series 1. I think we should consider which gender is more likely to be well-repesented by a given figure. Figures like the Queen and Tribal Woman have to be female by default, since being a female is basically a requirement for them to be called those names. On the other hand, Figures like the Jewel Thief and Animal Control Officer aren't as clear-cut, since gender is irrelevant of their occupation or hobby. But making them female (possibly) makes them more interesting, at least in the case for the Jewel Thief who already has male versions in City sets. What I'm trying to say is - characters like the Janitor, Astronaut, and Kendo Fighter are purposefully depicted as males because that gender better represents the figure that LEGO is trying to produce. But the same idea goes for the Animal Control Officer and Jewel Thief as female figures, as those could potentially be males. TLM is an outlier in its own right, like the Simpsons or upcoming Disney series, regardless of the number of females. It likely has 6 to include the Wild West version of Wyldstyle, who is unique to that set.
  4. It's also possible that the green color of Series 11 brings that "wintry" feel home because we associate it with Christmas, and the Gingerbread Man and Holiday Elf are included in said series. Other figures in the series also give me that vibe though too, like the Yeti, Pretzel Girl, Mountain Climber, Saxophone Player, and Grandma, even if they aren't overtly holiday figures. If series 16 is red like I have heard, then we may also get that holiday/seasonal feel to it, depending on the figure selection of course. It would make the most sense for those types of figures to be released in September so they can be bought and displayed in time for Christmas and other holidays.
  5. Out of the color sketches, I wouldn't mind seeing a Wooden "I'm-a-real-boy" Puppet in the first row, any of the figures in the third row, the Kung-Fu Monks or Evil Genie in the fourth row, The western figures in the fifth row, the Angel and Devil in the sixth row, and the Alien at the end of the last row. Regarding the western figures - they would have to be differentiated from figures already released, such as the Cowboy, Cowgirl, Bandit, Sheriff, and Tribal characters. Maybe a Lady Bandit or Saloon Girl or a figure that gives us a more neutral-colored sombrero? Regarding the Angel/Devil - I'm not sure if these would ever show up since people may find them overtly religious. At least for me, I wouldn't be sure where to draw the line, but these characters may show up in other forms. The Devil in particular could be easily made with existing parts, recolored (such as the trident and Gargoyle's wings). The Angel on the other hand might need a new mold for the wings, one that I was hoping for with the Flying Warrior... If an Angel can't be made, then something like a Cupid figure would be the closest we would get to one, as Mythology is an established CMF subtheme. Regarding the Alien at the end of the last row - The recent Satyr's legs and Queen's dress makes me hopeful for more leg parts and assembly varieties, so this figure could theoretically have a chance as well, though he would have to be scaled back a bit to reduce the need for so many new parts. In general, I am hopeful for a new Alien variety in Series 16, if not a recolor of an older one...
  6. A bit unexpected, but this rumored Snow Queen is likely a side effect from Frozen. With that said, I hope she doesn't look anything like Elsa, but rather has her own unique look. I wonder if she will have an accessory... I don't remember Itaria's list from the guessing thread before he deleted it, but I'm willing to bet that figures from his list will make an appearance in Series 16. I'm still waiting on a basketball player... It's one of the few well-known sports that has yet to be made as a CMF.
  7. Another nice slew of bios! Lots of references to past figures and themes. I giggled at the part about the Flying Warrior accidentally knocking things over with his wings! Where did you get them!? They aren't on the LEGO Facebook page...
  8. I voted Unicorn Girl. I didn't like her as much at first, but she's probably my favorite suited figure, though all of them are pretty awesome. Similarly to others, I'm guessing we'll see a Lion suit or Cow suit next, but I'm really hoping for a Lobster suit guy. He would have a new head and tail molds, and he could use the claws from the Atlantis Crab Warrior!
  9. Don't care much for the figures, but DANG each set comes with lots of great parts, including plenty of eggs! I definitely need to get the set with the hot dog stand - the bun mold is too good to pass up. And maybe that ship for those sails... Maybe the pig pirate's hat can be used on regular minifigures?
  10. Disappointed to see the new teapot and hourglass molds in pink, but it makes me hopeful to see other color variations. I know Ninjago was using a genie lamp as a teapot, maybe we'll get this new teapot in the next waves of those sets... We'll definitely see that new hourglass somewhere else. Despite the new parts, there's a lot here that I love, especially the school, the inn and the marketplace. Can't wait to buy them, go at 'em with my de-pinking shears and eventually combine elements from each into one larger set. Though it may wait considering I still have older Elves sets to pick up... The Fire Dragon set has some great colors, and if the sinister cauldron-thing in the background is a taste of what's to come - I'm pretty stoked for the summer wave!
  11. I feel like that's the exact same thing they said about Simpsons Series 2 in the Series 13 reveal... Cool color, though. Hopefully that does end up being the bag color.
  12. Wow, I just noticed the arm printing on the Grim Knight. I might have to get quite a few of him! Though I may switch his helmet to something that shows off his face printing better... It's a shame the Kendoka doesn't have back print, but he's still an interesting fig for me. I wonder how the S13 Samurai armor looks on him; it's kind of a stretch but the red around the kendo helmet looks like it matches the Samurai's armor somewhat, so it might work even if the main helmet color doesn't match. Having multiple Kendoka makes me feel like they might fit in with Ninjago as training grunts or something... It feels like they're common because it's cheaper to just bulk-produce katanas since they come with two... Same goes for Clumsy Guy (crutches) and Shark Suit Guy (fin-arms on the torso assembly). It just so happens that those characters are likely to be the most popular with children, especially Left Shark!
  13. The Book of Monsters has only been shown to make lava-type monsters. Shouldn't it be able to make other kinds, like plant and fungi monsters? Maybe if it fell into another person's hands?... If there's a forest, maybe there's a camouflaged Elven fortress!? I really hope to see the mushroom guy in a future set. IMO it's just too good of a conceptual character to not have in LEGO form.
  14. While I'm always a sucker for new molds, I must say this series' new parts selection is a nice breath of fresh air compared to S12, 13, or 14. Those series' were very headgear-heavy in terms of new parts, but this one actually introduces new parts that aren't headgears for once... That being said, I'm not sure anyone asked for things like a mophead, a skunk, a mullet, or a baby, so I think Lego is still able to surprise us.
  15. Excellent review! I must say that after seeing them "in the flesh," I really like the Laser Mech a lot more. That armor looks slick all silvered up! I wish the golds on the Flying Warrior matched, but I still like him as well. Lots of nice surprises such as the double-sided faces on the Animal Control and Shark Suit Guy, and the back and arm prints on other figures. Speaking of which, I'm surprised to see Shark Suit Guy so common, but I guess it'll make him more accessible to costume collectors.
  16. Interesting list. I can't wait to see what they look like! Mulan is the only one without another character from her movie. I have a feeling she will be in armor... I enjoyed Inside Out a lot, so I hope the characters turn out cool when translated into minifigures.
  17. I kind of hope to see either a toucan or some sort of lizard/iguana/chameleon. One can dream... Lion and sheep would be nice, and I'm surprised we haven't gotten any yet... They would likely be too large to be included in a CMF bag, so they'd have to be included in a boxed set, and nothing on the market right now would likely include them... I welcome any cat recolor! I need more varieties for my crazy cat lady! EDIT: Also, I'd like to see a new octopus mold!
  18. The Kendoka face sounds like it might mix-and-match with the Hun Warrior. Is it just me, or does anyone else think the Laser Mech's headprint will be that jagged line all around the head? I know that technology was used for the Skeleton Guy, so it would make sense that they would try to keep using it on other figures. Also, any predictions for figure distributions per box of 60? Here's my guesses: 5's: Scary Knight, Wrestling Champion, Laser Mech 4's: Farmer, Astronaut, Clumsy Guy, Winged Warrior, Satyr, Janitor 3's: Shark Suit Guy, Tribal Woman, Queen, Kendoka, Jewel Thief, Animal Control, Ballerina
  19. I just noticed - Shark Suit Guy's alternate face is on the box, in the group photo. I think that's the only time you see it. IIRC, the only other time we've seen alternate faces in renders is Medusa, who uses her calm face in her solo picture and in the 4x4 group photo, but her scary face on the packets and in the group photo at the top of the boxes...
  20. Thanks for the info! I can't wait to see them for myself, along with the other faces obscured by headpieces like the Scary Knight and Laser Robot.
  21. I agree with x105Black. The dress piece is a welcome change to the usual dress slope, though I am unsure if it will have the torso attachment like regular legs... A brick-built dress of that caliber is also way too many parts for a CMF bag. No figure exceeds 10 parts, and the assortments are mostly specialty parts with a lack of bricks... I will say it does a great job of capturing the voluminous feel of the Queen's dress.
  22. I got more impressed with the part usage with each picture I saw. My absolute favorites are the metronome and the compass!
  23. Regarding the mismatch on the overall colors of the Farmer - maybe it's because LEGO knows that printed colors don't always match up to what they're intended to be. This is particularly the case for certain color combos, such as yellow printed on white plastic and white printed on red plastic. So even if it doesn't look right on the render, the physical fig may have the colors match up. Hopefully the Ballerina doesn't have the awful mismatch on the torso like the Swashbuckler did...
  24. My top 5 are the Satyr, Winged Warrior, Tribal Woman, Laser Mech, and Animal Control Officer. I love the skunk a lot, but the officer herself is pretty fantastic too. That raccoon badge could be used for more than just animal control. I also quite like her sheepish face. It's basic, but from the looks of it she's happy to do her job but a bit nervous about going after the skunk, as if she knows she'll get sprayed... The good news is it looks like you can't even tell what's on the nametag, so the torso can be used for multiple (female) officers. Male officers can still use the arms! I don't mind the Farmer. It's just that he has such a bland-looking hat and legs compared to his detailed torso. Having the plain brown and blue legs isn't bad, but it's a shame they didn't do anything to the hat, such as making the string on it a different color. I think that it would have made the Farmer more interesting and it was a missed opportunity. He'll likely get back print as with previous overall-wearers such as the Plumber. That said, the arms have such great print that I wish he wasn't wearing overalls and his torso just had that green shirt instead... My least favorite is probably the Wrestling Champion, only because I wish the belt was a mold and not a print... The trophy feels incongruous, based on my limited knowledge of awards in pro wrestling.
