  1. Is there any particular reason why you can't use the newer style white skis for the CC? I haven't seen anyone use the non-hinged ones, but I don't see why not. Also is all that dark blue really noticeable on the ground floor? Before i looked at the instructions, i hadn't a clue there was any blue in cc at all.
  2. Bummer of the year. I thought the vignettes were a real sales winner. Those animals drag on the shelves for over a year here, nobody wants them. Maybe they'll have both?
  3. Great looking cars, I wish LEGO would turn the detailing on those up a notch, If you want vehicles to match the modulars, you really have to do it yourself. Great idea with the popsicle lights, it's a shame the trans-red color is ultra rare for them.
  4. I think duds are unavoidable if you want to reuse certain molds like the female cyclops or the squarefoot. i don't think those are many peoples favorites, but they are probably cost effective.
  5. Nice revision of the dump truck, it's got a lot of playability, but the recently retired trash chomper is still a winner amongst the dump trucks for me, though more expensive, but also with much better figures and leftover parts. That thief paddling in the tire looks like Freddy Mercury.
  6. I find it really hard to predict what will be popular in the future, some I just don't understand. One of the designers of cmf's for LEGO acknowledged they never knew hot dog guy would be so popular, so i guess they also just have a vague idea.
  7. Well we don't know your wife, but something i've noticed a lot with female lego fans is they love tiny details, especially when it comes to interiors. This makes the Parisian restaurant very popular with the ladies, but obviously out of the $30 range. All the creator houses seem like a good start.
  8. DHL global is a horrible company, and their tracking system is no exception. I wish S@H just used regular mail. Keep trying with that number sometimes you get lucky and something shows up eventually.
  9. I don't want to challenge the popularity of gb, but i still feel this will follow the fate of millenium falcon or more recently town hall. It will be just out of reach for many who will then postpone buying it untill it disappears from shelves when all of a sudden everyone will seem to want it.
  10. Find the fairground mixer set on bricklink, search the inventory for minifigs, and when you see the right one, click on the minifig inventory and you'll find the head. Simple.
  11. Those nets will go straight to the parts bin, the one that's never used with all the fleshie heads, tinted windsrceens and bold minidolls.
  12. I got a prefabricated reply explaining how some things are backordered and will ship eventually, but nothing specific to my case and why it says cancelled, and not backordered.
  13. My first thought after seeing that net piece was this looks like fabuland. Seems a bit bulky and cartoonish. I see what you mean about the baby on the back, probably right, i didn't really make the connection between tribal and nat.american, i imagined her more like jungle tribe. I'd be happier with a more universal baby mould.
  14. I don't see how you all came to the conclusion that the baby is meant to be carried on the back of a minifigure. It looks like it can be held in arms which seems more logical to me. That net looks a bit crappy, maybe the final version will be better.
  15. Can i hijack borrow this thread? When only a part of your order is "cancelled" does this mean they eventually ship the cancelled items when they become available or do they just stay cancelled? I ordered Wall-e and just some minifigures to qualify for free shipping, this went on and never arrived, then got sent again, but wall-e got recalled in the meantime, so I finally got my package with just the free gift and minifigures. My VIP points are still standing, I didn't get any refunds, just when I look at my order the Wall-e part of the order is cancelled. (no explanation was ever sent to me) Should I just wait for Dec. 4 for wall-e to get back in stock and hope they send it or am I doomed? Thanks.
  16. Selling sets for a premium before their official release is bad. LEGO invests certain trust when shipping these for reviews or retailers, and when people abuse this, they tighten the rules for everyone. There is great effort involved in preventing leaks of this kind which might even influence the end price..
  17. Cool. These will be useful, and probably look much better when printing is added. That's at least 3 must-have figures so far just for the accessories. I'm thinking the skunk mold could be reused in brown for a squirrel at some point. (wishful thinking)
  18. Of all things in review + achieved support, only the beatles submarine seems feasible so far. (drug abuse seems a bit stretched)
  19. I like when mocs look legaly built as though lego would have produced them that way. Size is good for this vehicle.
  20. I'm still not sure it's not. One box has a backwards casted shadow. How weird is that? and it's not even consistent with the other box. If that's a retailer catalog, do they always give amateurs to design them?
  21. Great looking caffe, a bit art nouveau. I appreciate the use of classic smiley figures.
  22. I am a huge fan of French culture and people, and i take yesterday's events very personally. Really sorry you had to go through this.
  23. You could consider the modular buildi gs as city ucs, a lot of people combine them with city, though i think it looks wrong. City cars and most buildings are a bit lackluster in comparison.

Sorry, I don't follow superheroes, even though I pay attention to hairpieces, that black widow seems to have slipped. No new minifig parts then.
  25. If by "make the shine disappear" you mean you want to diffuse the light, then the cheapest solution is to put baking paper in front of the light source. Another option is to bounce the light, but then you loose a lot of light. It would be better to use a kind of box first. for example you can cut out a slot in the bottom of a white paint bucket (it has to be white), place the cutout over the light and cover the bucket with non-stick baking paper. I don't know if LED's are now used in photography, but I wouldn't really want them either way, LED's have a much narrower light spectrum, even when they are a warm color, they can never achieve the same effect as tungsten lamps, and LED's are very hard to project softly. the technology has evolved significantly in recent years, but still not enough to replace tungsten.
