Even better, i don't have to buy it right away then. Or source the poly for silly prices.
  2. This is now beginning to get interesting. Normal minifig heads were determinable on weather I care for this series at all. Whatever the characters end up being, those hairpieces look very promising.
  3. Not sure what you mean by "new" if it's a recolor, could just be testing the mold

Yes, it should be polybag 40221, the one with the statue, dog and bright light orange (not yellow) bike. Not sure if it's 100% confirmed, but pretty sure its the one.
  5. Birds are retired in Europe as of about a month ago.
  6. I'll just wait for Jang to review this, he's the only reviewer who doesn't annoy me.
  7. What happened to that marble maze game which unfortunately doesn't look too promising sale-wise to me. There are 4 ideas sets on the shelves currently, and at least 3 of them are bound to stay for a while, maybe it's for the best we have a break rather than hacinv one of them retire.
  8. Really great design. i have a pair of those large glass pieces, but could never figure out what to do with them. Same with the friends colors. Breezway cafe and the paradisa theme were around when I was a kid, though outdated, still great sets. I am missing a scarface figure there :)
  9. yes, I think that's a big downer when you initially wanted to get them all. I wonder if tlg is loosing potential buyers for new modulars due to people giving up the idea entirely because of the unobtainable early sets. Someone who studied the behavior of collectors would know more about this phenomenon. If it's any consolation, the early sets are quite outdated in build techniques and bricks. Some revolutionary elements that we have today weren't around at the time and interiors are a bit lack luster in comparison to new models, or in Cafe Corner's case, lack completely.
  10. Unfortunately no one looks at me strangely, but I secretly wish they would.. I am pretty proud of my immaturity, I find "normal" people boring. I do sometimes hear other people in the store over-explaining why they are buying lego and who it's for which I find a bit strange.
  11. Maybe even the wikipedia listing would be helpful if you are new to this, it also lists them all. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lego_Modular_Buildings

I don't think you can order from one site to an address in another, but you can take your wife for lunch in Germany and save the difference on gas with lego. I am thinking of postponing buying it until I can go to Germany or someone I know is passing through.

It was mentioned several times since the day of the first photos that there will be no early vip release. and neither for the gb firehouse.
  14. Maybe the satyr didn't come with a tail piece to stop people installing it front to back in an attempt to make it more "accurate" to the mythology.
  15. I know it's bright light orange, I am happy to get the bike in a new color. There is already a yellow bike in an old 90's set with a postman. The bike will probably run you about the same as this friends set on bricklink.
  16. Unfortunately the interlocking system was registered as a patent, patents expire, and that's ok. What companies with retired patents often try to do is register the design as a trademark. This is difficult to get away with, and rarely works, and LEGO is no exception. So clone brands have full rights to use the interlocking tubes and studs system (I am sorry, but I do still want to call them clone brands) They also have rights to make all elements that are not registered as a trademark, and as far as i know, none of LEGO's are except the minifiugre assembly. The reason for cancelling LEGO's trademark rights on their 2x4 brick was that it's shape is determined by its technical function. Meaning you can't interlock it with other elements if its not designed exactly like that, and things in that category are registered by patents, not trademarks. Fair enough. So that settles the 2x4 brick and all the other sizes if you wish. But LEGO also makes a lot of elements which are designed in ways that don't necessarily determine their technical function. For example there is more than one way to design a wheel element, a mudguard or whatever but clone brands still insist on shamelessly using LEGO's existing design and although legally not limited, use the same dimensions to keep compatibility, and as that's not blatant enough, they proudly parade this information on the box. Things in business are a lot different than other aspects of life, there are no things like "honor" or "fair game" If something is legally allowable, it WILL be exploited. However, I am not a CEO or lawyer, I still value human traits of companies, and everyone who copies others work just because they can, get disrespect. I find "clone" to be an understatement, they don't clone, they copy.. most of them very badly.
  17. Great to see the 2x2 white curved slopes and medium blue 1x2 plates. Looks like a great selection in Cologne. hoping some of those elements are due here.
  18. Before I finally ended up buying the dreaded blue arch, I was looking for possible alternative ways to get the same most similar effect without the actual arch. One obvious solution is to change it out for a LB Gray arch which sort of goes in line with the surrounding color, but I didn't like the idea, you would loose some contrast and look duller. Plan B was to buy the shorter 6-stud arch in Dark/Earth blue which is significantly cheaper, and then replace the curved bricks for those new 2x1 cheese slopes with slots which are as of recently more widely available in light grey. (dark bluish grey shown on photo, I didn't have any lbg) I have since given up the idea and bought the correct arch, but maybe it gives someone else an idea. I've seen worse compromises on CC.
  19. Retirement dates of such large sets is something LEGO tries to keep secret. You will probably find a lot of comments on how any particular set is or isn't definitely retiring this year and it's easy for such rumors to spread and influence either buying it or not. Pet shop has been out for a while Pet shop has been rumored to be retiring very soon for at least two years Pet shop had a box update last year indicating at least another production run We don't know how large the productions are nor how well they sell, so that is almost useless information. When sets retire, they first go out of stock, and USA is almost always first to run out. Once they go out of stock, people panic and it's almost impossible to get it even if it does momentarily turn back in stock. The end of the year and Christmas season have high demand, but we don't know how big the remaining stock is, so that is also useless information. The cat and dog designs included in the Pet Shop are outdated, there are newer molds for both of them, counting at least 2 years back. There are also easier and cheaper ways to get the cat, either via bricks & pieces or bricklink if you are just after the animals.
  20. Yes, I think it hurts LEGO. And the most affected are newcomers to the toy. People who buy a cheaper "alternative" thinking these things are all the same, and then being thrown off the whole thing because they think the whole system is at fault. I don't understand the constant excuses for MB being a fair competitor because they "do their own thing" Where is this "own thing"? If you mean the themes and licences, then yes, they mostly keep to their own, but licences come and go. Why do they need to copy brick designs? Every brick you use had to be engineered and researched how it can best compliment other elements and this is something clone brands STEAL and use as public domain. That may be fair play in the corporate world, but it's dirty and calls for extreme lack of respect from me.
  21. Sheep (with a likely shepherd figure) Pigeon (new mold) And i still think the new skunk could be recolored into a squirrel, but maybe not so soon. Not so sure about the white cat. I think lego likes to reserve certain colors for special occasions, same reason there is no blue bike.
  22. I am just wondering, what is so cool about a zombie businessman that isn't cool about a zombie cheerleader? I don't get the fascination with zombies at all, but now I see there are preferences and exclusions within the theme and i get it even less.

At least you are in Germany, you can save almost 20 euros on that set compared to your neighboring countries. For some reason I like the original smiley faces. They are probably one of the rules of the Creator theme which also uses brick built animals (with exceptions) I assume it's to soften mostly parents and nostalgic people who go on about how "In my time you had only blocks to build and how the new generation of LEGO isn't as creative, blah, blah, blah... So they need to flash 3in1 in their faces on the box so they know you really can build other things with the set. I find those people ignorant and preconceived, but they make a large market audience, so they need to be catered to.
  24. I feel the same with every robot mecha, armour, bionicle, transformer thingy that comes in every series, but I suppose they wouldn't exist if nobody liked them.
  25. You are all misinterpreting the ferry boat. Those are not boats that navigate waters they are merely a platform connected by steel cable between two coasts (usually a river) like a cablecar on water. They are a substitute for a bridge. Look up cable ferry on wikipedia. They look exactly like this. It's a bit unfortunate that there isn't a special name for these in English, because ferry is obviously confusing.
