  1. Apologies is this is a silly question but I'm extremely limited on space in my current home. Once I move back to my house in Tx I'll have plenty of display room, but util then it's the closet. At the same time I can no longer suppress the urge to build and collect. My plan is to start piecing some of my favorite sets together. With that in mind I'm curious if sets like the 8110 Unimog set and sets of similar size would fit into those $0.97 plastic shoe boxes from walmart. I'm afraid if I go to a container any bigger I'm going to have to fit multiple sets into once container, perhaps separate by zip lock bags. Or if anyone has suggestions for storing sets with minimal space it would greatly appreciated. I am not concerned with with keeping the original boxes. One last note, I've even considered getting plastic file folder type box and just dumping all the pieces in there, but then once I go to build all the sets I'm sure I'll regret that due to all the sorting involved.
  2. This could be one of the best MOCs I've ever seen. This thing is amazing.
  3. I know this is very old, but this has to be the coolest fire department i've seen. If by chance your still around, any details on that green boat in the window in the background.
  4. I know this is a really old post, but very nicely done. It's smaller and simple. Any updates?
  5. Very well done, any chance you have some sort of instructions or LDD file with pieces used? This would fit excellent in my very small island town I"m designing
  6. It's easier to control spending when your broke all the time and trying to get out of debt on the Dave Ramsey plan. I've been back into Lego for about a year. On the rare chance I do buy something for my PC I usually get Star Wars or Technic. I'm also very slowly Bricklinking a couple sets from my childhood, and some retired sets(technic, monster fighters and the modular series). I came back to Lego through Bricklink with the goal of trying to make some extra money, now I find myself wanting to collect more than I sell. So I buy all the deals I can find, pull the pieces from those sets that are on my Bricklink wanted list, and sell the rest. I also only use funds from sales or overtime at work. Maybe not the best method to build my collection but it's building slowly. Also once I complete baby step 2, then I'll be allocating a certain about of income towards my collection.
  7. Very nicely done. I can't wait to move so I can a Lego room. For now it's all in a closet,
  8. Thank you everyone for the responses, lots of helpful info in here. Hopefully more than just myself will benefit from it. A little off topic. Getting back into Lego is VERY OVERWHELMING I just want so many sets, trying to make a realistic want list and it keeps growing and shrinking. Oh well that is half the fun I guess. Doesn't hurt having them on the want list, maybe I can move them to an active project list on day.
  9. Most of the sets I'm thinking I'd like to build are mostly the tractors/harvester and some of the trucks like the 9397 logging truck, 8285 tow truck, 8258 crane truck, along with some of the contraction equipment. Actually that sounds like a lot doesn't it. I know some the newer ones I can get cheaper as a complete set. I guess on the other hand paying $200 for something weather as a complete set or brick linked it doesn't matter in the end.
  10. There are several older/retired Technic sets I think i'd like to take a try at building. Bricklinking all these sets will get very pricey. I'm curious if anyone knows of any other sets that might contain high counts of Technic pieces. I've parted out a few Galaxy Squad sets that had some. My theory is to hopefully save a few dollars by stripping the Technic pieces out of the sets and adding the rest to my bricklink store. Or do you think it would more cost effective to just continue buying what I can get deals on, take what I need, sell the rest, and just order everything else. Any input would be appreciated, thank you.
  11. Lots of very nice collections, maybe one day I'll have enough to post a small collection picture. Just started Lego again and still trying to decide what direction to go, after seeing all 22 pages, I might be leaning towards the Technic side of the house.
  12. I've got a couple cats and 2 kids.
  13. Thanks for the input. The majority of what I do is part out. I do hang onto a few sets but not many. Did a lot of sets last year with a ok return I guess. But I've come to like parting out more.
  14. Very nice ! I love this series, wish they would bring it back at some point.
  15. Nice video. I'll have to check out your others. Looks like this set could incorporate into my city/town plans.
  16. Our household got the Disney Princess Cinderella Castle and several star wars sets. Going to make for fun family time.
  17. So I've been back in Lego for just over a year. I originally got back into when I purchased a few sets for my daughter, and discovered Bricklink. My intent was to sell enough to pay for my daughters sets. So over the last year I've grown from 0 pieces to just over 50,000 in my store. Hasn't really worked out that way I was hoping it would, sales have been kinda slow and random at best. I now find myself wanting to pull from my own inventory and start building sets and creations. I figure I'll still keep the store because I know there's lots of pieces I won't be using and sets I don't want to build. I figure just pull what I want to start a city of my own. So naturally I was curious if anyone else got back into or started into lego with the intent to resell and changed to building and collection with an emphasis on selling second. I'm sure pulling and updating my inventory with pieces I'm removing will be time consuming, but none the less I believe that is direction I'm heading.
  18. I just separated from the Air Force after 12 years of active duty. Now I'm a life safety inspector. What is that you ask? I inspect fire extinguisher, fire suppression systems, fire sprinkler systems, and anything else to do with fire prevention. We inspect anything from the ghetto apartments, to massive power plants.
  19. I'm pretty bad about this as well. Most of the time it takes me at least a few weeks. It's always easier to find a few minutes to stop by and get a cup, than it is to find a large enough block of time to sort it and get it into the store.
  20. Thanks for the input. This is the route I'm going. I already added the majority of what I need into my bricklink wanted listed. Looks like I defiantly am bitting off more than I can chew but oh well, go big or go home right?
  21. So I'm wanting to start a MASSIVE Star Wars project. Not really sure what direction I want to go. Maybe a epic battle scene, perhaps a base with dozens of ships ready for combat, or something else really cool. I know this will be a costly project and will probably take me several months to complete. Not to mention I'll be moving within the 12-15 months so don't want to get to in-depth with it. My currently goal is to mostly stock pile the stuff for the project. I currently have a modest 30k piece bricklink store and I am considering taking the pieces I need for this project from the store. If I take this route I will continue to pull pieces from sets I part out to add to the project and add the remaining to the store to help offset the cost. My other option would be to just leave everything in the store, continue adding and then once I move pull the inventory for the project. My problem with this is I would hate to sell pieces and then turn around and buy them all over again. I rather deal with shrinking my inventory now and then slowly regrowing my store back up. I have also compiled a list of all the sets I'd like to use in the project and I am considering adding them all to my want list in bricklink so I can keep track of my progress as I accumulate the pieces for the project. I have never taken on a project of this magnitude, so does it sound like I'm on the right track or is there a better way I could go about doing this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
