  1. That is fantastic! It is amazing what can be built with LEGO with enough time, people and bricks. Props to the designers and builders! What country was this built in? Andy D
  2. Is this from experience or estimte? Andy D
  3. How did you do that? Andy D
  4. Anything I want I get before Christmas, because usually everyone also wants it also, so after Christmas it is sold out. This year I've just requested a bunch of old (very old) SciFi TV series DVD's because I've already bought all the LEGO I want at a 20% of sale at LEGOland a couple of weeks ago (still spent $500, on various LOTR and Hobbit sets, they sure saw me coming) However, each year me, my son and his wife assemble LEGO on Christmas morning between breakfast and Chritmas lunch/dinner. This year I got The Barrel Escape, Attack on Weathertop and Attack of the Wargs for us to assemble. I think I will just put a bow on all three sets with a note and allow my son and wife to choose what they want, I will take what's left and away we go. Andy D
  5. Very nice! Some of my favorite details are the roof and base (did you use the same SNOT technique on both?) Lots of really nice details in the diner fixtures and the checkerboard floor tile brought back memories. The hot rod is also nice, the carboration is very clever, just like what hot rodders were doing back in the '50's, looks like many a hot rod I saw back then (still see some "old guy's driving them now). Many, many. Little details that make the MOC look complete. I am loking forward to 2.0! Andy D
  6. This is a very nice building all by. Itself! But all the little details really add to it. You mentioned the bow, the gum machine (very nice) and the tree (very, very clever)' but then there's the cart and he lamp post-clock and the icecicles worked very well also. Good luck in he contest. BTW: Is this "Kings Cross" London or Sidney? Andy D
  7. Gee! That's really unfortunate, looks like none of the minifigs got what they wanted for the "End of the World" <vbg>. All I want is a good celebration on 12.22,2012! Afterall, acording to this calendar this day only happens once every 394+ years, 5125+ years and every 25000+ years. No matter what doesn't happen it is a significant calendar day (like New Year's Day) only more seldom. Happy New Baktun everybody! Andy D
  8. The "no spending" would be very, very hard (almost impossible) for me, too many good things on the horizon, LEGO-wise. The best I can hope for is "moderation in spending" and getting organized. Well, the get organized part has started, I was able to spend 2 hours yesterday sorting, and I hope to spend a similar amount today and more when I can carve out a couple of hours here and there until done. The hardest part is a cataloging system. Maybe for 2013 I will just try to "stay organized and build more" Andy D
  9. Very nice cave! Rock work fantastic! Interesting stlagtites and stlagmites. The special effects really add to the scene, but it is also nice to see the MOC without the effects as well. is that a "lava lamp" as part of his tool? Looking forward to he follow-up build on Dec. 22 <vbg> Andy D
  10. Nope, I don't normally find time to read all the sections. I feel pretty sure I am not alone here. I still feel a broader exposure would help. I also noticed another poster aking for exposure in the History forum, that is why I think something like this could so be discussed in the General News forum as well. Maybe not moved, but discussed there at least. I still like the idea of MOCPlans.com and I hope it makes it really big! Just one opinion. Andy D
  11. Well, at least someone is going to be at peace on 12/21/12. (or 21.12.12 as you choose) I like it, looks peaceful, and as Wedge09 said "small but detailed" Andy D
  12. Thanks, I remembered "Google is your friend" just after I posted. Your Kirk looks remarkably similar to the photo. Couldn't the minister also be the organist and just stand in front of the organ for the 4 people who can attend <vbg> Andy D
  13. Look at it this way... This is what happens when someone from the Shire moves into a Winter Village. Not sure if a WV purist would like to have Bilby as a neighbor, but nontheless, here he is. Can't we let Bilby move in to town? ;) Andy D
  14. I really like this! I guess a kirk is a chapel or little church, is that correct? I like the size, an the fact that it has 4 walls is a plus to me. I am not really a fan of the open back as they do not look as finished as an enclosed structure. I like your use of the 1x rounds in the walls and windows and such. Good use of greenery and color and the organ is really quite nice as well. I would like to borrow some of your ideas for a church/chaple for my Winter Village. Good luck in the contest! Andy D
  15. Looks interesting, a crossover MOC. Any more photos? Andy D
  16. What does 100+ sets equal in display space? Andy D
  17. Yes, these are unopened boxes, (sets) that I do plan to either build or just part out. Uhoh, I did a recount and it's more like 40 boxes, but seeing as you have over 100, I still don't feel so bad about my backlog. Andy D
  18. Very nice! When is the last ceremony? Lots of interesting details. Andy D
  19. Nice photos of Dinotipia. The video had a lot of information, but it started to make me dizzy after awhile. Andy D
  20. I started using the Akron Mills drawer systems but soon found that they would require too much space. I am now trying the Glad Food Storage containers, the entree size. http://www.amazon.com/Gladware-Storage-Containers-5-Count-Packages/dp/B000EG4TLG/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1355326998&sr=8-5&keywords=gladware+containers After my local sales tax they are about $0.80 per tub. I put parts in and stack inside each other without lids, and put a lid on the top one in the stack. I try to put similar parts in the same stack. This makes it ey to just grab a stack, for example tiles, I can just grab the stack containing tiles and have various sizes and colors. Andy D
  21. I found this thread by accident. I notice that you seem to be focused on Technic. I believe this concept would be great for all themes. Instead of having all this conversation in just the Technic forum, maybe try to get some exposure in the in the "General Discussion and News" forum so more people might read about it. Good luck with the venture, I hope to see some fantastic MOC's available for the rest of us who are not at the same design and implementation level. I learn by assembling sets, MOC instructions would have the same effect for me. Andy D
  22. Very nice WV Church. I really need a church for my Winter Village... No time now, maybe next year. Your church has lots of nice features, worthy of being included in a Winter Village. Good luck in the contest. Andy D
  23. I have been following your Advent Adventure since the beginning, and i think it is very clever and fun. However, with the number of days it is getting difficult for me. I like to look at the prior photos and I believe it might be easier if they were in-line so you can scroll back and forth between photos. I noticed that the service you use for photo hosting allows several options for embedding photos. Just a thought... Keep up the updates. Andy D
  24. That's a great plan for 2013! One many of us could look at, and try to follow. Andy D
  25. Very nice! I hope you put it into bricks for the contest! Andy D
