I know it is generally frowned upon to quote pictures, but I felt these were so good that I felt thy diserved extra attention. You found some really whacky locos there. My favorites are the two here. I don't have the shills, but I would really like to see these in LEGO, especially the first. Andy D

At the barracks, an moc lightly influenced by the persian culture
Andy D replied to Mencot's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
It looks like the SW Christmas ornaments. I have it in grey, I did not realize it came in other colors. You are right, very creative. I just realized, it may not have been intended as an ornament. I have a couple of the Death Stars that I do use as ornaments. Andy D -
Such a beautiful very large castle! It is all the little details that make it so great! The grey and tan roof, the tan and grey outside wall, the stained glass windows. The tile in the great hall. How did you outline he tiles? When I saw the windows in the hall the first thing I thought of was an electronic game from the 1980's called Simon. Anybody remember Simon? Andy D

Very nice! I particularly like he domed structure. Couple of questions... What did you use for the dome? Do you have a close-up of that cool upside-down plam tree? Andy D -
Great construction! However even in LEGO, that thing still gives me the "willies". Andy D

Very nice! Scary monster in the cave. The whole scene is really good. A place to avoid going! I really like the Vultures as well. Andy D

Kristel, thanks a lot! Great idea making one wall removable. Sounds like it should be more stable than my hinge idea. I will try this next MOC. Your CC is great! Andy D

Great! Have fun with the TH. Keep you credit card handy, if you are like many of us with modulars "you can't have just one" I built the CC and GG fom Bricklink. I had to substitute a few parts, but they look nice anyway. Built the GE, still have the PS, FB and TH in boxes (I really need to get to them). Can't decide on MS as I have too many other projects going on right now, including making more display space. Andy D

LEGO Landscape Building Technique Presentation
Andy D replied to lisqr's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Very nice PowerPoint document, lots of interesting techniques shown, I would have liked to have seen the presentation live, lots to learn from it. Thanks for sharing this, Andy D -
My wife is out of town today! So lazy day of EB and sorting. While reading I came to a revelation (well, I already knew it)... I really don't like open back as much as stackable! But, the open back sometimes offers a better veiw of the interior. Has anyone tried to use several hinges on a wall (for stability) and also make it a stakable? I would love to see any examples. Thanks, Andy D

I really like all three. The third reminds me of a very nice reworked Cafe Corner (Cafe Corner converted me from Mindstorms/Technic to modular and buildings). For the Mocca House, how do you plan to achieve the front wall angle in bricks? Maybe a SNIR technique? Very nice. I need to push my limits more. Thanks for sharing these, very inspirational. Andy D

...photo of stash deleted... Tisk, tisk. You really need to get the missus on board with you obsession (er hobby). It will be bad when she finds it, they always find it! My wife just opens my LEGO closet and says, "He brought the LEGO store home and put it in here". I think I buy more becuse she is on board with my obsession (er hobby). Good luck, Andy D For my taste, this is one of the nicest most functional LEGO build spaces I have seen! My LEGO room has a mish mash of furniture. I really need to just take my LEGO room apart take the exiting furnature to a donation center and start fresh and make a new build/storage space, and of course finish sorting several thousand parts. Thanks for he inspiration. Andy D

This is amazing! I thought the original was great, but the additions are just over the top great! I don't know where to start... The cellar is quite nice, as are many other details. If I had to point to one it would have to be he stone work on the walls, so much realism. This takes the WV series to the maxium! What I would like for the actual WV. Thanks for sharing this with us, AndyD

Very nice video/slideshow. I have only been to the Legoland in So. California USA, and the Star Wars Miniland looks much the same as the photos in your video. BTW: Welcome to EuroBricks. Andy D

Thanks! I just ordered parts for some black and white . Andy D

I have seen numerous solid color minifigs, in white, grey, black, and others in various MOSs. Some of these colors are good for statues n the like. I've tried to search on BL for solid color MF's with no luck. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, Andy D

Very nice MOC! The play on words (pun) great! Andy D

Great street! It reminds me of a small town street in the USA in the '50's, just different names on the stores. Great work! Andy D

Excellent service station! Makes me long for the days when we had full service stations. For your tile, maybe a checkerboard pattern, maybe not white at all. The little details are great, and a tire rack would add to that. Too bad we even have to consider mirrors or security cameras, but that's "real life". Andy D

Tweaking the Haunted House
Andy D replied to ResIpsaLoquitur's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I think your tiled attic looks much better. I don't think that open studs make a floor look more rustic, just unfinished. There are ways to make it look rustic and broken down, maybe add a tile of a differnt color to look like a repair job, or maybe a couple of exposed studs. For stone tile I would try grey or a combination of grey, dark grey maybe a black or two here and there, maybe even some sand green to look like mold. You've got a good start, and I like your ideas. I hope this helps Andy D -
Very nice time lapse. It looks like it took around 6 hours of build time over 2 days. That seems to be about what it takes me build a modular as well. Thanks for posting the video, very interesting to watch the build process. Andy D It looks like step 3a (printed in invisible ink) adds the 16x16 to the previous 4 pieces. Sometimes the instructions do leave something to the imagination. Andy D

Thanks for the info. Like many others WV is one of my favorite themes right behind the modulars. Anybody have a photo of a typical German Christmas Market? Andy D

Buying by the pound costs more than by the PaB cup! Yesterday I went to Legoland CA and bought a Bunch of loose bricks, mostly small, 1x 1 rounds, some tiles and some 1x1, 1x2 and 1x3 bricks. I spent about $50. Today I decided to put my purchases in large PaB cups to see how they stacked up. I only filled 2 large cups! That would have been about $30 or PaB cups. I found some colors that I seldom see in LEGO stores PaB walls, and some pieces that I have been wanting for my inventory, so I can't really complain about what I spent, just an observation. Andy D

Very, very nice! I am impressed with your progress. This is going to be one fantastinc mansion. Do you have any idea of about how big the whole thing will be? Andy D
