Welcome! How long have you been building modulars? Glad to see more folks with plans ;) Andy D

I don't feel so bad now. My backlog is only 30 boxes. Andy D

My situation is the same, and different. I usually go to the LEGO store with the idea of what and frequently how much I am going to purchase. The damaged box sales are something different, I frequentally rationalize about the part availability in different sets and get sets that will add to my inventory, but I don't usually add the pars to my inventory until I hade built he set, I'm always looking for new techniques, but I do need to build more frequently. I also try to get sets I want so I am not left hanging with discontinued sets that I wanted, but did not get. So, "resisting temptation", not often. Andy D

I am glad that my motto helped someone, maybe after reading some of the responses in this thread it will help me to build more. Maybe spend less, (maybe not) but I definately plan to build more. At the end of 2013 we will see how this works out. After I get my Christmas display set up I plan to sort and then be ready to build after the first of the year. Maybe my new motto should just be "start building" Andy D

My Families Christmas, a advent adventure
Andy D replied to Col. Brik's topic in Brick Flicks & Comics
My confusion, I thought the first picture was before the snowman, but it must have been off to the left (from viewer POV) I really like this vingette and I am looking forward to another instllment. Edit: Uh Oh, just noticed day 5 and the melted snowman. Andy D -
@ShaydDeGrai Those MOCs are excellent, I don't remember them on EB. Thanks for the links. Andy D

Somehow I did not think I would be alone here... I think part of my problem is organizational as well. I have a room dedicated as my "LEGO studio", no excuse there, but I need to get it more organized. I need to complete the sorting of my inventory so I can find pieces easier when I do find time to build, and get some shelves installed for display space. Though I did do one thing, I put some shelves in the closet for storage or parts, I just need to organize it. Maybe my motto for 2013 should be "Get organized, start building" Andy D

How did your LEGO plans for 2012 work out? In my sig, my plan (motto) was "less spending, more building" Well, that did not work out exactly as planned. I think I spent more in 2012 (so far) and I have built less, but I have spent more time here on EB (vbg). I think I'll blame TLG, they introduced way, way too many new, great sets that I had to have (not built yet though). Maybe I should not make a plan for 2013, or maybe I should plan to "spend more and build less" (will that work to spend less and build more?) What about you? How did your 2012 plans work out for you? Very interesting design. The stone portion is very realistic, and the wood part fits very well. Overall, great! Andy D

My Families Christmas, a advent adventure
Andy D replied to Col. Brik's topic in Brick Flicks & Comics
I really like this! But it appears that day 2 should be day 1, or am I missing something? Overall, very, very clever. Andy D -
I do try to get the stickers lined up as well as I can, not obssessive about it though. But the LEGO on the stud... I never consided it. I just try to make my models look as good as I can. Andy D

I just wanted to add my WOW! To the list of WOWs here. This castle really should be a winner in any contest. How long did it take? Any idea how many bricks? This really gives me something to shot for. Andy D

the secret of the old tree - Castle Diorama
Andy D replied to markus1984's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Wow! Just wow! This is really quite nice. The big tree is incredible, and the rock work is very realistic followed by (maybe preceded by) the greenery and the water. All in all one of the (if not the) best I have seen. Andy D -
I really like the LOTR line, and I would like to see a Helm's Deep made from 2 sets. Andy D

When I first saw this set in the advertising I did not see anything that would make me get it... But your review pushed me over the edge. LEGO is really trying to put a strain on my credit card these days. Thanks again for a great review! Adndy D- 77 replies

Excellent review, excellent set! I like this set as much as the EN (and that's saying a lot). I may have to get 1 or 2. I shouldn't have read the review, now my credit card is going to suffer. Thanks, Andy D
