  1. Very, very (I can't put in enough very's) impressive! All the little and BIG details. The interiors are amazing. And since I am currently studying LEGO trees, your pine trees made from palm tree leaves and branches just blew me away. How did you do that? Edit: After more study, I think I figured it out. Did you use bars bteween the rounds to attach the leaves? Great, great, great! Andy D
  2. When I build sets I sort into small containers (glad food storage containers). My sorting is by size, color and function. This can take quite a while, but I get to look at new pieces and try to determine what they might be for. When building, I then remember pieces and can find them by size, type, color or function. I realize that my sorting technique might take longer, but building is not just half he fun, it is most of the fun of LEGO Andy D
  3. The entire LDD is just mind blowing! Those trees are something to behold. Thanks for sharing this. Andy D
  4. This is a wonderful MOC there are so many things to see that I can't pick out just one that I like better than something else. I found that by zooming in really close I can see details the way you intended them to be seen. The photos are great, but they do not do the MOC justice or tell the whole story. To see all the details I know I will have to view this many more times. Also envious of the display space you have available, it must be nice to have the space you have. Andy D
  5. The roof is very nice, the windows are nice, the whole building is great. But... I really, really like the mountain. I need to learn how to do that. Andy D
  6. Excellent! The design, the colors, the furnishings! I spent many an hour in soda shops like that. Looking forward to more. Andy D
  7. I have four(4) NIB Technic sets. The 8258 Crane Truck, 8265 Front End Loader, 8043 Excavator and the 8053 Mobil Crane. I bought them when I was interested in Technic and Mindstorms. But for the past 2 years I have been building Modular buildings and the like, not really interested in Technic or Mindstorms. I would really like to sell the sets and turn them into modular buildings. Any idea how to best sell them and at what price? I have been considering about $100 or so each (about half what they're going for, not interested in making money or hassle) I just want a reasonable amount to buy other sets as the are doing me no good as is. Ant thuoghts or help much appreciated. Thanks, Andy D
  8. Wow! So many things to look at. Each time I look I see something new. I am likeng the window treatment on the 2nd and 3rd floors, the dojo the roof garden and the lamp attached to the roof. Lookiing forwerd to seeing this in bricks. Andy D
  9. I bought 2 copies of the HH. One to build as is (now built, very nice as is). One to convert to a modular. I plan to make it a corner building and try to keep as many of the original features as possible. Due to obligations and Chritmas decorating coming up soon I will most likley not get to this until mid January 2013. Andy D
  10. Very nicely done! I am looking forward to more. The more mini modulars I see, the more I want to try one when i can get time betwen projects and obligations. I really like mini modulars because I like to try to determine what parts and how they were used. Andy D
  11. Thanks for the link. I must have had a senior moment. i forgot to do an images search. I ususlly just use the search box in my browser. Many, many thanks. I just tried this with a 56x26 tyre and it is perfect! Just the right size for a coven of minifig witches! Thanks, Andy D
  12. What was you search term? I googled lego caldron and all I find is the official LEGO caldron. Thanks, Andy D
  13. I am looking for good, close-up images of brick built cauldrons. I am attempting a Halloween display, and would like to have as part of it a coven of witches (I have the coven) around a cauldron, but the typical LEGO cauldron is just too small. I was at LEGOland Calif yesterday, and due to sunlight (glare) issues and positioning I was unable to get a good close-up photo of a cauldron. Does any one have a good photo or a reference to where I can see one to help me determine what I need to build a cauldron. A miniland cauldron would be perfect. Thanks so much for any help. Andy D

  15. I really like the addition of the extra white in the posts. With the dark red and black roof tiles, the extra white seems to brighten the whole structure. Good job, great change! Andy D
  16. I have the frist edition of this book and I find it a great resource. Does anybody know what is new in the second edition besides color? Thanks, Andy D
  17. A Starbucks in the zombie graveyard would give the zombies someplace to gather and swap stories and keep them off of Main Street. Andy D
  18. The Minifigure Construction Crew did a great job! My favorite is the tan chimney followed by all the white. So the Munsters moved out and the Bradys moved in <vbg>. Overall, really great! Andy D
  19. Great presentation! I really like the graveyard surrounding the HH. Haunted House on a hill, the way a HH should be. Andy D
  20. Much snipping of oiginal message... I think you are on to something here, your modular would look great in many different colors, I especially like he sand blue and tan, maybe a sand red as well. Thanks so much for sharing this one with us, it really is teriffic! I hope to see more of this style. Andy D
  21. Very nice modular in the style of the Haunted House. It looks very. Nice in color and style as a "new" house like the haunted house may have been before the current residents moved in. To make it look more look the haunted house maybe a few "run down" items, like shutters falling off and the like. All that said, I stil think it is very vice, I like the colors and style, and I also was thinking of doing something similar with a second copy of the "Haunted House" model. I like modulars beter than swing apart, "doll house" style, but I will build one "Haunted House" per the directions. Also, I am starting to really like the 16 wide modulars more and more. Some structures look good as 32 wide, others look better as 16 wide, kind of like a "row house" style. Andy D
  22. I agree, this is very clever. I also think making it manual to require some interaction also adds to it. If it were motorized people would just look at it and think of it as just another music box type construction, but by requiring interaction it will cause people to think. Great job! Andy D
  23. [quote name=' ShaydDeGrai' date='07 September 2012 - 06:01 AM' timestamp='1347019282' post='1386593' #3) Oversized specialty parts - I like big models made from large numbers of small generic parts, not the other way 'round #2) Overall playability - I'm a builder and a collector. I think of LEGO creations as display pieces more than toys (okay, I admit I play with my trains, but who doesn't...) #1) Gratuitous play "features" - Flick fire missiles in Weather Top? Really? When do we get little lasers to put on the sharks' heads for the next underwater theme? I seem to see a pattern forming here. With many of the posts. It seems to me that most folks on this forum fall into the category of "builder and collector", that is where i believe I fall. So the overall playability is not important to me. I like things that enhance the displayability though. I like he box art, but I look at it, build the model, then put the box in the recycle bin, I have no room to collect boxes. So for me, i have to say I most identify with what ShaydDeGrai listed as his 1,2,3 items. Andy D

  25. I was looking on Amazon and came across a series if instructions for modular buildings by G. Orlando Walker. He has published building instructions for 6 or so 16 wide modular buildings. Has anyone built any of these? If so, are the parts fairly common? It looks like the buildings are between 800 to 1,100 plus parts. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=G.+Orlando+walker&rh=n%3A283155%2Ck%3AG.+Orlando+walker&ajr=0 Andy D
