  1. The WV Cottage is the only WV set I am not using this year. In fact I think it is going into the parts bin. Reason: it is just too large compared to the other buildings. I purchased plans for kristel's WV Cafe which I am using in place of the Cottage. IMHO there are a lot of MOCs from the previous year's EB WV contest that fit into the WV better than the Cottage. Just MHO, YMMV, Andy D
  2. I agree, if you want it, get it now! I have seen sets on S@H go from "Retiring Soon" to gone for good in the same day. Andy D
  3. I agree with the size of the TARDIS being too tall, but in order to have the connection with the Console a Room, I am not sure what could have been done. Too bad there is no way (out of the box) to make a stand alone TARDIS of the proper height. Maybe someone will come up with a "good" MOD for this. I don't have time (I need a time machine) to do this. Andy D
  4. Thanks, my first thought was something like that... However I never cease to be surprised by some building solutions I see. Some I can see ahead of time, and dome that cause a jaw-drop experience. Merry Christmas, Andy D Stems are just so darn handy, it seems I get a few hands full every time I see them on the wall.
  5. Excellent review! I am glad that you did not rush this or the Mine Loader review. Could it be that the fan in the back is like a turbo prop propulsion.... Just reaching here. Andy D
  6. Excellent review! Worth waiting for. The set itself is very interesting. looks like it may have one interesting build techniques. Thanks for the review, Andy Ad
  7. This year I am looking forward to the Modular of the year (every year) and some of the new mid-priced Technic sets. I'm trying to cut back. Andy D
  8. Maybe they need to put more servers online during these times. It seems that LEGO has become so popular and the VIP double points has become so popular that S@H just can't keep up. It seems that particularly, some of the Ideas sets are so popular and anticipated that they might sell out quickly, at least temporarily. Like others have said, I haven't had trouble with normal or exclusive sets in Modular or Technic, only once in Monster Fighters, for the Zombie's set (which may have had unexpected popularity). But I am lucky to have a LEGO brand store close. Just MHO, YMMV Andy D
  9. Nice to see that Mega Blok cares so much about LEGO that they would help to keep a LEGO only forum running. Andy D
  10. As I remember, I did a search on eBay for 'LEGO Nativity'. There was a seller there who puts (mostly, except for printing maybe) standard minifig parts. As I remember, not cheap, but for me worth it because of trying to find all the different parts necessary. BTW: I just checked, the exact Nativity is not listed, but there are some others. BTW 2:I forgot, I just purchased the minifigs, the scene is my design, that's what took so long. I wanted something simple yet (I consider) elegant for he season. IHTH Andy D
  11. Very nice Christmas tree! I really like the tree trunk, I must try to figure that one out. Unless you want to share how you did it ;) Andy D
  12. I added a second photo to the original post. I put Baby Jesus in a simple manger as requested by some. Which do you like best. Also Withacee had a good idea about the papoose from the Native American Woman from CMF series 15, but I cannot find it anywhere. Has CMF series 15 been released? Merry Christmas, Andy D
  13. Actually, I purchased the minifigs as a set. I cannot claim any credit/responsibility for the decals, I think the hood is a white version of something from LOTR. The minifigs have just been sitting around for a couple of years while I decided on how I wanted to design the entire scene. Overall I am very happy with the result and it fits in very well in my Winter Village Square. I will take an post photos soon (I hope). I did make a manger for baby Jesus, I will try to take/post new photos today. Thanks, Andy D
  14. I look forward to the whimsy in the current banners. I also look forward to the seasonal changes. IMHO LEGO is more whimsy than "professional". Just MHO, YMMV Andy D
  15. Built Doctor Who. Really like the closed TARDIS best. The control room is rather interesting, how'd they get all those little things designed. The Daleks are very well done, lots of little parts, very good design. The minifigs are spot-on. My only challenge is what is common to many sets... The contrast between the background and part color. There are just too many part colors that look too similar on the colored background. I really think TLG should just start using white as a background color for instruction pages. Andy D
  16. The best advice I can think of is to build it like a TARDIS, that is... Bigger on the inside. Andy D
  17. This is exactly what I tell myself, how I justify my purchases. Especially the part about losing money if I don't buy it! Andy D
  18. I think aol000xw said it best. One response might be nice to be polite or at most two responses should have been enough to complete the discussion with your "stalker". Just MHO, YMMV, Andy D
  19. I just got back from my local LEGO store. They had plenty, shelves full. I got my 2! So I can have 1 open and one closed! Stoked! I'll build it tomorrow, too tired to enjoy it tonight. Edit: I forgot to mention it was extra sweet because I got the sets for points. Felt like I got 2 sets for the price of sales tax (just under $6). I hope everyone gets their Doctor Who. Andy D
  20. Already on back order on the USA S@H site. Going yo my local store later, maybe they will have it in stock there. Andy D
  21. Sounds like they (the hamsters) may have feelings of world domination running around in side their heads ;) I have become so used to seeing your reviews with hamsters that I miss them when I see video review by someone else, really need a hamster to make the review complete! (Of course, just adding a hamster is not going to make other reviewers better.) Keep on doing those wonderful reviews! Andy D
  22. Thanks for all the positive response, it is much appreciated to see that others like my little scene. I really enjoyed making the Nativity scene and it looks so nice in my Winter Village Town Square. I will post photos of the Winter Village Square as soon as I get a chance to take them. BTW: I was not trying to present Jesus as a toddler, it is just the best way he fit into the scene and it seems that it was understood that it is Jesus, so I guess it worked on some level. I don't think Jesus had a "terrible two's" spell... Thanks again to all and Merry Christmas! Andy D
  23. oooh, Prize C would go so well under my Christmas Tree. Thanks CopMike, this is always fun to see who enters what and who wins-what! Andy D
  24. When I first saw pictures of this set I said "so what", now I say "Must Have". This review and Sarile's review made all the difference. I will get this set. Andy D
