Very nice color scheme, and I dig the use of the wing pieces.

It's so purple! So so purple! I never would have thought so much of a color like this would be effective in a GoH build, but wow, you really make it work, and make it look good! The tower, with it's Tudor additions, are lovely, as is the rockwork, water, and landscaping. The interior is an intriguing thing of beauty.

Oh! Brilliant beautiful work! The tan roof with the red leaves is a beautiful color combo. Stained-glass clerestory windows? Gorgeous! And the interior is so bustling and lively!

Bring In Your Dead (Challenge IV Prelude, Chapter 8)
SarahJoy replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Great architecture and interior design. I like the floor in particular. I really dig how the prelude builds are slowly but surely involving all the other guilds. -
Charming and intimate build, and your story continues to intrigue!

Food Shortage (Challenge IV Prelude, Chapter 10)

Brilliant build, as always. The mucky streets of Barqa always charm me for some reason, and that building is truly imposing. -

Very effective use of space on such a small build. I especially like those flying fish! -
Beautiful! So many details to love -- those balconies, the rooftop garden and tub, the fully furnished interior -- just beautiful!
-
I love your wall technique, and those brown vines are clever and nicely done! You've done a great job capturing the overall grossness of a swamp.
-
Beautiful build -- rockwork, whitewater, autumn trees -- very naturalistic!

Great vibrant build! I like your use of those barrels, and the path and ground work are really well done. The ramshackle shop has a lot of charm!

The Death of Flagg (Challenge IV Prelude, Chapter 9)
SarahJoy replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Okay, I LOVE that you used a Stargate. Great reference to Si-Mocs, and now that you've planted the idea, its suddenly seems plausible that Historica would have a Stargate! As a loyal Kaliphlin citizen, though, I hate to see the loss of Flagg.- 14 replies

Forging Alliances (Challenge IV Prelude, Chapter 6)
SarahJoy replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Great build, great story, and impressive troops! I particularly like the architecture of the inn, your refreshing use of turquoise in the wall, and the grey round tiles to break up that expanse of tan plates. -
Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
SarahJoy replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
While we're bumping UoP builds, I could still use a few votes for (or against, depending on your opinion!) my A True Bloodbath build. Thank you in advance for your consideration! UoP +1 on all claims Gideon says you've already done a Life in Mitgardia, so no credit for that one. You really need to set up a post in the Registrar's Thread to keep track of your claims (If you already have and I missed it, my apologies). As for the waves credit, I need to see a bit more than just mixed trans round plates. There are some great examples in the Registrar's Thread of how to use the colors effectively to achieve the impression of waves, in particular here, here, and here. There are other approaches, including this fun one. UoP +1 for Advanced Windows and Life in Kaliphlin. I agree with Gideon that this build looks more rocky than dune-y -- you can see some great dune examples here, here, and here. In regard to the Advanced Wall Techniques, what specific technique are you claiming? -
The River Port of the Trifork (HSS Nautical)
SarahJoy replied to Bregir's topic in Guilds of Historica
Really beautiful work on the buildings! I love how much detail you've included, without the buildings looking rugged/decrepit. Like Lord Dan, I'd like to see more texture on the horizontal parts of the build, but overall, very nice work! -

Disaster Relief (Challenge IV Prelude, Chapter 16) Previous Prelude chapters: Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7 Chapter 8 Chapter 9 Chapter 10 Chapter 11 Chapter 12 Chapter 13 Chapter 14 Chapter 15 In the wake of the Great Disturbance, there was a great diaspora of the resident population around Lone Mountain. After hearing the High Council's pleas to the people of Kaliphlin to not horde food and supplies, a few every day citizens decided to lend a helping hand. A few of Ruadh's wealthier tourists decided a relief effort should be made, even at the expense of their own vacations. They approached Ruadh's leaders, who declined to join or offer protection through the desert. In these troubling times, they said, Ruadh must keep neutral and keep close. Instead, foodstuffs and the loan of a wagon were offered and accepted. The would-be charitable philanthropists set off towards the Lonely Mountain, in the company of the (admittedly sup-par) mercenary they found to act as their guard. --------- Overhead view: I'd like to claim UoP credit for: - Landscape: Trees (2 of 3) (Thanks LittleJohn for the tree design!) - General Building: Forced Perspective - Geography: Desert.
