  1. Look at it this way: the technology you are suggesting does not presently exist, in such a way that it would be practical and cost-effective for a modern army. So, if it's futuristic by contemporary standards, it's too advanced for a medieval world.
  2. Oh. Now that I can see the back, I don't think it would work easily or well for GoH. I you really, really want to use them, you need to be brainstorming to make them seem more medieval, not less. I'm not sure why you're even asking about this -- you know what the GoH technology limits are.
  3. Aesthetically, the armor would probably be fine for GoH (I can't see the back of the armor in your link, so it's hard to say for sure.) The story about the core, though, seems way too futuristic for a historical forum, even a fantasy one like ours.
  4. Mead is easy enough to make -- definitely easier than beer -- but it needs to age at least a year before it's palatable. (If you try it, I recommend using Wyeast Sweet Mead yeast.) I have builder's block on my challenge build. It's about 75% done, but I'm stuck. I think I'm going to work on a free build I've been wanting to start instead tonight.
  5. Phew! I was worried about getting this build finished in time, but end of January is totally doable.
  6. Thank you de Gothia!
  7. Your brick built characters are so impressive and inspiring!
  8. While all submissions are well done, I vote for number three. It's a great representation of each of the guilds, and feels the most like a GOH MOC. I also really appreciate how much time Slegengr took to fine-tune it, working with the suggestions of other GOH members to arrive at his final submission.
  9. You've managed to turn a terrible double-entendre into a remarkably elegant little build, while keeping it humorous. Love it! The lady minotaur is great -- she oozes urbanity and elegance, and the bejeweled rack is indeed quite nice. The build itself is impressive -- it manages to be both minimal and ornate at the same time, if that makes any sense at all. And the story, with the reveal of the male minotaurs peering through the foliage, totally cracked me up. You're too modest -- you get all the credit for such a great idea. It turned out really well!
  10. Nice work on that brick built ship!
  11. Some really great figs in this series! I especially like the Fancy Knight and Serving Grandma.
  12. Brilliant. Love the trees and the rock and ground textures.
  13. Outstanding. Great dialogue, brilliant rockwork. I love that signpost. The ground seems a bit plain, but perhaps that's meant to indicate barren-ness?
  14. Great concept and build. The rockwork underground is well done, as is all the minifig posing. I wouldn't mind seeing a few more of the plants in the grassy area, but it's a minor quibble.
  15. Thanks Garmadon! That shouldn't surprise me, but it does. And it's just the two of us here, a far as active FFOLs, correct? As far as the ground texture goes,I think a slightly more restrained color palette is a good plan, but I probably won't take it as far as you'd like -- I like some color variation personally. Thanks SK! I think you're probably right -- I may have jammed too much variation into to small a space. Next time I'll let the plain tan breathe a bit more. Thank you Mike!
  16. Really great series! That Enlightened Orc Is fantastic, as is the Warrior for Hire.
  17. Fun series! I like your CMF approach. Lots of great figs here -- hard to pick favorites -- but that Housewife is too funny!
  18. Beautiful series. The carefully composed coloring of each fig is lovely, and the series is wonderfully visually cohesive.
  19. Cool series! That Queen of Spies is really nice.
  20. Nice series! I like the explorer, woodland sentry, and lava miner.
  21. Fabulously expressive series! I particularly like the Kali figs and the Duke.
  22. Great variety, and great posing. I particularly like the sculptor, glass-blower (yay Ruadh!), hedge knight, and sanguinist. The back-stories on each are great; the time and effort you must have spent on these really pays off.
  23. Thank you for the compliments! Terrible as it may be, I'm glad you didn't do a similar fountain -- this build has enough Barqa influence already! Looking at the build with fresh eyes, I think you're right about the crenelations being too busy. I started there, when the build was in its early stages before color and texture variations, and it added necessary visual interest at the time. I should have reevaluated as the build progressed. Thanks kabel! I'm glad so many have enjoyed the silly story. I'm afraid y'all will probably be stuck with me for a while. Do you think GoH has has a lower retention rate for women, or just doesn't attract many women in the first place (compared to other Lego themes)?
  24. Very creative series! The variety of elves is interesting.
