  1. You have voiced the fears of many people, including myself. The Mindstorms concept has so much potential but, all we’ve seen in the past few years is Boost which I fear may be the dumbed down future of Mindstorms.
  2. I fear that you are drifting into fantasy land
  3. If you only get one youngster and parents to take a sustained interest in technology, then I think you’ve been successful.
  4. @Pat-Ard the 2018 model pales by comparison, even with the colour vomit
  5. Now this is the best of the three in my opinion. The mechanisms alone are worthy of praise. But, combined with the Mindstorms control, this is a beautiful build. Thanks for sharing. I’d really like to see if this could be combined with the “gravel” loader to prepare a train with a mixed cargo.
  6. Again, thank you for bringing Mindstorms to the forums. A theme that gets too little attention.
  7. Really nice to see Mindstorms making an appearance on the forums. Kudos to you for focusing on the educational potential for the build.
  8. Ingenious design. I love the battery box being used as a structural element.
  9. That could well be the case. I just know that it has been discussed in a recent thread.
  10. The cabin walls are made up of beams and panels. So, nothing to explain the size of the box.
  11. Possibly. Though the black pin at each "corner" of the triangle still makes me wonder.
  12. It's tough to make out but, at the base of the boom on 42082, at the point where the LA fixes, it there a new liftarm? Looks like a red T-piece at 3x4?
  13. I make it to be approximately 113 to 115 studs high, which would equate to around 90cm. So, that fits with your estimate. I used the height of the wall panel being lifted, rather than the wheel diameter.
  14. This links to an issue that was seen with black panels recently. At least it confirms that there is a mould variation that is causing the difference in appearance.
  15. This may be a more compelling reason for TLG not to use wheels of this size.
  16. I've come to the same conclusion. The mock up works perfectly for the pullback sets so, it should be fine for use by anyone wishing to play in LDD in preparation for the contest.
  17. The models in the digital forum all seem to use brick built alternates so, I'm guessing not.
  18. Does anyone have a solution for modelling the pullback motors in LDD?
  19. I thought I'd seen something saying 1st January but, I can't find it now.
  20. I think this illustrates that there is potential for Lego to make use of larger wheels and tyres than they currently offer.
  21. Fingers crossed I can get some time over the holiday, to reconnect with my bricks.
  22. This is fantastic! Great to see the photos showing some of the techniques you employed. Thank you.
