So, here is my build to join the colony ... Apologies for the poor image. I've used larger wheels on the rear, along with white hubs, which is the main difference from the original design. There are a few minor colour changes to work around my available parts but, these really are minor. This really is a great build and the steering works like a dream.

I guess you should go for it, if you have the 3rd party tyres already.

[TC12] Highflyer
Boulderer replied to Leonard Goldstein's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It seems that a number of members have thought along the lines of this idea. Though as with the others, I also have to concede that your execution of the concept is far superior than anything I could come up with. I was trying to take inspiration from Professor Pat Pending's machine that had telescopic "legs" that raised him over trouble and other racers. I'm glad to see that someone has managed to do justice to the idea. Well done!! -
I have been thinking of the Wacky Races cartoon, with Dick Dastardly and Muttley. Can't say I've ever heard of the game. I may find time to add to the colony this weekend, all being well

[TC12] The "Big Racoon"

Ricky Racoon!!! I have fond memories of this guy from childhood, when my sister had a few Fabuland sets and was constantly running him over with my latest variant of 8860- 7 replies

It'd be good to see the change in real bricks. Not sure the 3rd party tyres would be necessary. The Unimog tyres look ok.

[TC12] The Unrollable
Boulderer replied to kodlovag's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The bins of pieces isn't something I've seen at the Lego stores here in the UK. Sounds like a treasure trove of fun I can now say that I've seen technic pieces at a PaB wall! Found 12l Axles and 1x12 technic bricks (red) at the PaB at Manchester Lego Discovery Centre Shop. It's one of the smallest PaB walls I've seen but, the first to have stocked technic pieces. -

Not big enough! Fortunately, I rarely build the official models. -

I'm sure that is the case though, I have not seen the instructions for 42030 either. This would make sense, that the configuration has turned out different for the two operating modes of the controller (drive/steer & functions). An interesting configuration to investigate and resolve. Unfortunately, not interesting enough to give me incentive to buy 42070, even at a discount. This is the first set of the last 5 years that I will not have purchased. -

Do I understand correctly, that you find Technic pieces in your local PaB wall? I've never seen a single Technic piece in all my visits. -

Having not seen the instructions for the model, I do not believe that the answer is so obvious. So, I feel the question remains valid, especially given that the set has received so much criticism. -

Is this as Lego designed the model or, is it because the controllers have been reversed by the reviewer? -

I recall that the 8860 used an old tap component for fixing the tubes around the engine. I'm not sure that is still in production. -

Boulderer replied to All_About_Lego's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Welcome to Eurobricks The 6R4 is a great candidate for an MOC due to the blocky nature of its design. It suits Lego elements perfectly.- 21 replies

I'd be interested to know where TLG deem the highest density of Technic fans to be. AFOL's in the western hemisphere will likely be at work, and younger fans will be back at school. It kind of makes a mockery of the event being "LIVE". -

Perfect timing for the middle of the working day, both Europe and the Americas. I'm not sure how many of the AFOL community will be able to tune in for what is surely going to be most appealing to AFOL nostalgia.
