[MOC] Sandvik MH620
Boulderer replied to M_longer's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
That would certainly help ? Though it must take very efficient sorting to allow you to find pieces quickly. -
Technic Pub

I've been having the same problem for a while. Perhaps since the beginning of the new format. I'm using an iPad, if that helps narrow things down. -

I'm amazed at the 3 weeks! How do you get all the pieces together in that time, nevermind design and build?! -

42043 C-Model - Mobile Crane
Boulderer replied to M_longer's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Staggeringly good C-model! When I see builds like this I'm always intrigued to know what the TLG design team think of the model. It'd be great to get an insight. -
Wrong color on set 42000?
Boulderer replied to Kim72's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I think you may have got off lightly with those pieces ... pun intended! -
Congratulations to all contestants. It was a shame to have to miss out on voting for this contest. Though I'm not sure my votes would have made too much impact.

Wrong color on set 42000?
Boulderer replied to Kim72's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'd rather not look at 2nd hand LEGO under black light ? -
Technic 2017 Set Discussion

Interesting line of thought. Following it further, which piece would you consider the last inventive piece to be launched in Technic? -
Wrong color on set 42000?
Boulderer replied to Kim72's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
As far as the instructions are concerned, black and dark bluish grey are notorious for being difficult to distinguish between. It my just be that, nothing more sinister. -
I already like this set, I found it to be a really enjoyable build. The addition of posable wheels (I think steering may be a slightly misleading description ? ) will improve display options. I'm not sure that I'm in favour of cutting hoses but, that's just the purist in me ?

It sounds like that may be the issue. Unfortunately, it means I'll be unable to vote on this contest

I finally managed to get the page to stay open but, the videos on the first page were wrong. They appeared to be duplicates of those from the second page. I tried refreshing and haven't got the page to reopen again. It may be the volume of photos. Though this is the first time I've had this problem with any page, in years of browsing.

I'm having problems viewing the entry topic. I keep getting an error part way through the page loading. This repeats until the browser finally gives up. Is anyone else having similar issues?
-
I experienced a very similar problem and it appeared to relate to friction issues in the build. A few adjustments and a little tinkering resolved the problem. Unfortunately, I don't recall exactly which adjustment or tinker actually did the trick

I hate to throw another alternate into the ring but, that picture looks like it's set up really well for tumbler tyres. It'd be pretty large scale mind you, size and budget ?

Grum's Shed
Boulderer replied to grum64's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
You just need to get a second copy and build the B-model to sit next to it. One of the better B-models IMHO. -
Grum's Shed
Boulderer replied to grum64's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
One final point, then no more, TLG do actually use Polycarbonate for many elements, not just ABS. All the Trans colours for example are PC. I believe they also use PC where they require additional strength so the PwPH may well be PC or a blend thereof. -

There are many different grades of ABS, with varying properties. -
Impossible? Which sets were you unable to build? Maybe we can help you ? As to the large books, I'm indifferent to the format. I do have issue with over simplified instructions, however. As a kid, I looked to Technic for a build challenge, as well as a learning experience. The first "Technical" sets offered this, and still do require concentration to build. Modern Technic set instructions offer little challenge. The fact that 6 year olds can build them without assistance makes that clear.

I like the continuity of the figures appearing through your presentations. Do you have screen names for them?
