Great idea for this, MOCs are few and far between when it comes to the Wright brothers so its nice to see one. I feel that using flower stems for the grass instead of the leaves would look a bit more realistic as a field. Apart from that everything is perfect!

Nice build. The walls lack texture though, adding tiles, vines or textured bricks would improve this model greatly.

For a first build this is great! Nice touch adding a waterfall as well. Welcome to GoH!

The road is amazing. Well worth the effort. The courtyard garden is a nice touch as well.

Good job, the posing on the monster is perfect. The model might look better if you built a raised base for it though. As far as I know only moderators can change topic titles.

Excellent trees and landscaping. As usual. Although I think the first photo would look better if taken from a lower angle.

Great work. I really like how you changed from your normal style to this. Good use of those gold palm leaves, its not often that they work well when used in an actual tree rather than decoration on a building but they certainly work here!

Wow, just wow. This is one of my favourite models I have seen so far this year. Amazing build, photography and edit. Great job!

[MOC] Tower of Orthanc Mini Modular House
BrickCurve replied to PaddyBricksplitter's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Great job, this captures the style of Orthanc perfectly. -
Good job, I think it might look better on a raised base, the tan baseplate used makes it feel a bit flat. Also, nice use of the lavender leaves.

Excellent as usual. Its nice seeing the same scenes transition throughout the year. I feel like the dark red foliage on the left is a bit this compared to the rest over on the right of the MOC. The colour transition is also a bit sudden, some more red on the dark green and olive side and some olive green on the dark red side would improve this.

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
BrickCurve replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Ska, I just noticed that under my name on the guild homepage. My character name is Lord Parimere. Image here Lord Parimere Of Kaliphlin by Henry Alekna, on Flickr -
Wow, great build! This has some of the best snow I have ever seen. Also, great use of the 2 x 2 round plates on the walls.

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
BrickCurve replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Welcome to Kaliphlin! Great idea adding a land away from Historica, as for vikings, there are a lot of pirates in the area near the Wither Woods. They may be the best place to start your search. -
A 1 point for Gideon, 1 points for Soccerkid6 and 1 point for Kai NRG B 1 point for Exetrius, 1 point for Blufiji and 1 point for Garmadon C 1 point for Gideon, 1 point for LittleJohn and 1 point for Jacob Nion Ecc. just a thought, you should probably update the rules so that voting for your own MOCs is not allowed.

Right, here it is. With photo editors the main differences are price, performance and ease of use. For basic use there are various options, Adobe Photoshop Elements is an excellent entry level photo editor which is not particularly expensive and apparently quite easy to use. For more advanced use, Adobe Photoshop/ Photoshop Lightroom are a more powerful alternatives to elements, They are best suited to anyone who needs more advanced capabilities from an editor. Best suited to people who have photography as a hobby since the price is almost double that of Elements. Photoshop and Lightroom can also require quite a powerful computer. Also consider Capture 9 Pro from Phase One. Capture 9 Pro is more aimed at professionals so that is reflected in the price. There is also the free option GIMP. GIMP is harder to use than Photoshop and Lightroom but it is free and works with older computer hardware than the Adobe alternatives. For Sony camera users only I believe there is also Capture 9 Express, a free (for Sony users) option similar to photoshop elements. If you have a Sony camera, try that first. I personally use Adobe Lightroom although photography is one of my hobbies so I haven't tried some of the cheaper alternatives such as Elements. When editing the photo, to get the background perfect, I use a selective mask tool with which I can select the background of the model, I then brighten it until it appears white. You should also try to get the brightness of the model right in camera because intensive brightening of a photo can distort it, (except if used to brighten just a selective part such as the background). A tripod is also a worthwhile investment since it helps to keep the camera steady and it allows you to use slower shutter speeds to allow more light into the camera rather than adjusting the ISO which would add noise to the image. Good luck!

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
BrickCurve replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
There is also a Star Wars set #75139, it has some good pieces for Kaliphlin builds. 59.99 USD is expensive for what it is but, if you were able to sell the mini figures it would work out to quite a reasonable price. -
I wrote three paragraphs of advice, as I pressed post my internet connection stopped working and I lost everything I had just typed. I will type it again later when I have more time. PM me if I forget.

The Elemendi-Chapter One-Going Underground
BrickCurve replied to Kayne's topic in Guilds of Historica
Great builds! The arch is excellent. One thing though, how does the minifies on top of the arch get down! Count me in for the resistance! -
Thanks everyone. Thanks, I wanted too use the 1990s minifies but I simply don't own any. That is soon to be fixed.

Nice job, the river is one of my favourite parts. You need to work on the landscaping though, some 1 x 2 plates under the grass would really help add more texture and improve the feel of the whole model. You also need to work on your photography, in most image editing programs you can easily add a mask that brightens the background of the model until it is perfectly white, although you may have to manually select the background.

Good job. My first MOC was a modular tower using exactly the same technique. You should definitely add some more details to the rockwork although doing it the whole way round something like this is very parts intensive. Some 1 x 1 transparent plates would also help to make the water look a bit more natural. As for the tower, adding a second colour (tan for example) would really help the overall feel of the model, one of my MOCs from a couple of years ago was built using this technique and adding tan bricks- As your parts collection expands you could revisit this technique as I have done and add more lecture to the tower, turning it into something like this- .
