Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
BrickCurve replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
I am fine with you using my images. -
Looks great. I really like the waterfall and the vignettes built into the base. I do think the tower at the front could use some of these though- ( http://alpha.brickli...olor":86,"ii":1 ). Do you have an overview shot of the back of the castle?

After the original fell off a table, I rebuilt it into this version that I infinitely prefer. Bio: Orion class deep space cruiser have been used for years as a reliable way to transfer goods, passenger and other cargo on long haul space flights. Most versions of the cruiser carry two small shuttles to be used as an escape route for the crew in emergencies and as a way to unload cargo Length: 110 studs Parts: 1000+ Time To Build: One Month (off and on) Built for SHIPtember 2015.

Finally finished! I also managed to do my first edit job with Photoshop (I previously only used Lightroom). Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
BrickCurve replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
I agree, at the present it is unclear which cities are controlled by each faction (especially for new Kaliphlinites joining after the challenge). Also, does any body have an idea when the winners of categories A, B and D will be announced? -
How do you dust between the studs on LEGO?
BrickCurve replied to The Steward's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I vaguely remember reading about someone using a laundry bag over a vacuum cleaner to clean dust off their bricks. I personally use a toothbrush. edit: found it- -
Great build, I love the angles you have achieved in the landscaping. I agree with Isundir though, the tree looks a bit stretched to me, it would look better with a thicker base and then gradually thinning out towards the top, rather than the last three layers being almost the same thickness.

What are some good ways to create towers?
BrickCurve replied to ShastaSerpentine's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
There are loads of ways to build round towers, I would recommend one that uses parts you already have. Some examples that spring to mind: 1. 1 x 2 bricks with 1 x 1 round bricks: In the second example, the spiralling pattern of the bricks is covered by the vines making the tower look more natural. by Jonathan Gilbert, on Flickr by Henry Alekna, on Flickr 2. Hinges creating the base of a tower. the following images are from Derfel Cadarn's guide to building a medieval village, I recommend that you check that out as well- https://www.flickr.c...157627731013869 Round Tower Guide 6 by Luke Watkins Hutchinson, on Flickr Round Tower Guide 12 by Luke Watkins Hutchinson, on Flickr Country Outpost by Luke Watkins Hutchinson, on Flickr More advanced versions of this are: by Luke Watkins Hutchinson, on Flickr BlueWater Castle by César Soares, on Flickr 3. Tiles Some very good looking, but parts intensive techniques. Alternative round tower technique by Nannan Zhang, on Flickr 08 by Nannan Zhang, on Flickr The Pillar of Flesh by Nannan Zhang, on Flickr Rapunzel's Tower by Jordan Schwartz, on Flickr See also: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/257825 (round tower guide) and http://classic-castl...o/articles.html (a guide for castle building in general). The Tale Of Lord Parimere Of Kaliphlin
BrickCurve replied to BrickCurve's topic in Guilds of Historica
The bowman was a detail I added for a convention I was at- no story is attached to him at present. As for the large trees, they just seemed right next to the main walls. The landscaping would look a bit sparse without them there.- 17 replies

I know, I have a Moc in progress covering the next part of the story. It should be up as soon as I finish my SHIPtember build.- 17 replies

The Tale Of Lord Parimere Of Kaliphlin
BrickCurve replied to BrickCurve's topic in Guilds of Historica
I am glad you like the aqueduct, it was built with spare parts I had on hand and ones I purchased during an expo, it was then built the evening after in a hotel room! Yes I know the inter guild border post idea is a little strained, that specific Moc was originally meant to be Avalonian only but I ran out of minifigs in the correct colours.- 17 replies

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
BrickCurve replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Ok, thanks.Just over a year since I first joined Kaliphlin I finally have a more detailed character backstory! http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=114183 (one year of procrastinating ) -
Just over a year since I first joined GoH I finally have a more detailed character backstory! As a boy Parimere grew up in the Ansfel border post (were his father was garrisoned) situated between Kaliphlin and Avalonia. During his late teens he journeyed with his father through three of the four guilds- Avalonia, Mitguardia and Kaliphlin, (his fathers diplomatic work never took him to the guild of Nocturnus). Following the passing of his father he was left with a choice, since he had spent most of his life in either Kaliphlin or Avalonia, he was left with a hard choice, the guild of trees or the one of deserts? In the end he chose Kaliphlin in the south as his home In the years that followed he became a lord of Kaliphlin, frequently wandering through the guild, especially near the coast and occasionally abroad. And that is the tale of Lord Parimere of Kaliphlin.

Quick question, is the island of Al' Esterbroke part of Kaliphlin or Avalonia? -
This looks great! You should consider joining GoH.

Great, I look forward seeing it! Generally too much light generally isn't a problem for a camera, you should be able to change the aperture settings to cope, unless it's a cameraphone of course! -
Thanks!

The final battle between the elected champions of the Dragon and Lion knights for the control of the kingdom. Quick entry into the 2015 CBC (http://www.flickr.co...57654306929213/). Due to size restrictions I couldn't use a longer base to improve the forced perspective of the backdrop.

In LDD, is it possible to export to DXF or another similar format (DWG)? I have a copy of Vectorworks renderworks, and would like to be able to render LDD models in that way.
