Something inspired by the old Castle Ninja, specifically set #6093 Flying Ninja Fortress. I used Ninjago minifigures because I actually don't own any of the old Ninja sets, yet.

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
BrickCurve replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Great contest Ska, I believe most of my DK style mini figures are in one of my two 52 litre boxes of sorting . I'm terrible at sorting, the last two MOCs I built were from parts I was meant to be sorting... -
Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
BrickCurve replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Don't listen to the Avalonians!!! Kaliphlin forever!!! You don't need to limit your build to one guild whichever one you join, a large part of the people here build in all 4 guilds, even if its only for a challenge so don't feel limited. And anyway most styles of building fit in Kaliphlin, take your desert island for example. -
I had a look but am unable to find your Flickr page. You should consider putting a link in you signature (see mine below). I hope to see you in GoH!

Great MOC, the island has a very nice feel to it. Some small rock formations at the back of the island would give it a much more wild feel, as it is the island looks a bit too unsubstantial for the average explorer to bother with, assuming theres no buried treasure! Some more 1 x 2 plates scattered in the sand would give it some more texture and make it look more realistic as well. As others have said, you should consider joining BoBS or GoH. Both would suit your style of building fairly well. Do you have a flickr page? It makes it a lot simpler for people to find your MOCs just by clicking on a picture rather than doing it via other websites.

Thanks everyone. Thanks, the purple vegetation is a new one for me, I think it works quite well. I just got my hands on a few of the elves sets and thought the coloured leaves would work well the olive green. I think I can safely say it does!

As the power of the Algus is beginning to wane, merchants, traders and travellers are starting to travel from Kaliphlin to the north now that the roads are no threatened by the Algus. My last build in the north of Historica for a while. I'm going back to Kaliphlin for warmer weather!

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
BrickCurve replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Welcome to the Guilds! As others have said, Kaliphlin is definitely the best guild for you. I don't know much about LDD but I believe TLG have stopped adding new parts to it. The fan made alternatives are BrickSmith (Mac) and LDraw (Windows). If you decide to go down the digital path then you should definitely look into rendering you models. It makes them a lot more realistic and smoother compared to pictures of a LDD model. For real models, some sets that have good parts are the large elves castle, one of the pirate forts and that new star wars temple set. Selling the mini figures in the star wars set makes it a more financially viable proposition for parts. -
Brilliant take on the category, one of my favourite cat A MOCs so far. You are right though, it would look better a little less square although it still looks pretty good.

[The Frozen Beyond- Cat. A] The Algus Affect
BrickCurve replied to BrickCurve's topic in Guilds of Historica
I really need to buy some more 1 x 2 plates in different colours (sand green). I have a couple of hundred coming in LUG bulk later in the year though so I might wait till then before ordering any more. Thanks, I have some more tan 1 x 2 rounds on order so I intend to implement a bit more order in the colour scheme of some of my MOCs in the near future. Thanks, I began to run out of 1 x 2 plates in dark tan about halfway through the build, I am really behind on sorting. My next MOC should be better.- 16 replies

[The Frozen Beyond- Cat. A] The Algus Affect
BrickCurve replied to BrickCurve's topic in Guilds of Historica
Thanks, I don't know how familiar you are with the Kaliphlin map, but the parts of the wither woods that are on the coast (near eastgate) are actually far enough away for the snow not to have arrived there- and anyway it could always have melted... Thanks!- 16 replies

Cat. C entry- The Algus Effect http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=120327 -
As Algus patrols begin to appear on the borders of northern Avalonia, the effect are far reaching. Snow clouds drifting from the north reach the hot Kaliphlin winds, the result is rain, rain falling in the wither woods turning the landscape from shades of reds and browns to a more lush, green forest. Lord Parimere meets with one of the guard captains, commanding one of the wither wood outposts. Guard Captain: Sir, do you think the Algus in Mitgardia could cause snow to fall in southern Kaliphlin? it would be a disaster! Lord Parimere: If snow began to fall in Kaliphlin... Well as you say, it would be a disaster. The Algus must be stopped! Guard Captain: I await you orders sir. Lord Parimere: Well for a start we can send a detachment of cavalry north to assist Avalonia. It could then be followed by soldiers on foot. See to it Captain. Guard Captain: At once Sir. 2 weeks later... Kaliphlin soldiers are helping keep the argus at bay in Avalonia. It is hoped that the wither wood will dry out soon, we can't have Kaliphlin turning into a second Avalonia can we? Main images. Drat, I accidentally typed affect instead of effect.

[Frozen Beyond - Cat. A] Greenwood Castle
BrickCurve replied to LegoEomer's topic in Guilds of Historica
I dont know, I had a go and it works for me. As for the model, it really needs more landscaping, trees and vegetation. The castle itself is pretty good although it doesn't seem to have a door. It also needs some more texture in the walls overall good job for a first model, especially considering how time consuming LDD is to use. Your photos are all marked as private on flickr, to change that got to you, organise, select all, privacy and permissions. I look forward to seeing your MOC! And also for the images, on flickr you go to share, BBC code, select size, and then copy and paste. Like so: Wither Bay Watchtower by Henry Alekna, on Flickr -

Is there any chance of an extension to to the deadline? Its unlikely that the Bricklink order I need to finish my cat C MOC will arrive in time.
