[OCT-COR-FB2] Stop over in Weelond
Capt Wolf replied to Mesabi's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Ah, the chaos of a visit from the WTC! I noticed one fellow is attaching a Corrie flag atop the bar... Nice activity all around. And we get both an exterior and an interior. Don't worry about the architectural style; this build has character and an entertaining story. Good entry! -
In part one of this build I used an interior scene that used sand green walls and brown cross-bracing. So, when I realized I needed a second build, I built an exterior that could reasonably go with the interior. Follow the link early in the text to see part 1. But this exterior is totally new. And I've been using those grill pieces for crate tops for awhile. I think they work well. Thanks!

Thank you! You and Elos did such a great job with the ESL figs, I had to pull in that swordsman to keep pace! And I also had to show off that torso for the militia. Thanks! Although a quick apology to Ayrlego: I realized after the fact that my Oleon Admiral is almost identical to his -- at least dressed the same. My Corrie explorer is one of my personal favorites. He is my Sir Francis Drake. And the native diver was one I had fun putting together. I really wanted to make sure the faces enhanced the figs. The banker just needed a stern look. I'm glad you approve! And the monkey was a must from the get go! Thanks. The great thing about the militiaman is you just have to change the color of the arms to make it work for any other faction. And personality was what I was working for, so I'm glad that came through. The socialite was going nowhere until I pulled that hat/hair piece out of the bag, and it instantly transformed her! Thanks! Sir Famous Explorer is presenting the pineapple as a present to the queen. I'm sure somebody in her court will figure out what to do with it!

Willem Guilder couldn't believe it. More paperwork! He thought he had everything sorted out for the MCTC's additional ships and for his own accounts. "Get van der Meede to meet me at the warehouse. And bring the paperwork!" yelled Guilder to an assistant. "That warehouse manager has mucked things up!" Guilder grabbed his walking stick and hurried down to the warehouse district. "Gov'ner, back so soon?" said the warehouse manager. "You wuz just down here the other day. I got the warehouse prepped just the way you wanted." "Don't 'Guv'ner' me. The paperwork you sent has all the cargo assignments in my name! The dock master can't tell what are MCTC cargoes and what are mine." Just then Aaron van der Meede arrived with paperwork from the dock master, desperately trying to get things in order as Guilder continued. "Look, there are different forms for the cargoes from MCTC ships." Guilder motioned to van der Meede without looking at him. "And use these other forms for shipments from my personal ships." Aaron continued to struggle to organize the papers. "What could be easier. Now get it straight!" And with that Guilder hobbled back to his office, leaving van der Meede and the warehouse manager to sort out what was what between Guilder's personal account and the MCTC accounts. --- This corrects my error of using only one build to illustrate both my purchase of extra ship levels and the MCTC purchase of ship levels. Now there are two builds.

[SR - FB2 Oct] Smugglers of Tortuga
Capt Wolf replied to Professor Thaum's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Yes, taxes in Tortuga ... NOT. Very fun! Great story! And I find myself drawn to that wonderful mat for the sea. -

Which would be an item for @Phred. Oh, Phred...

That may be an idiosyncrasy of the spreadsheet. It may have the total number of properties required for a city, but hasn't fulfilled the specific requirements for city status. The ship levels are supposed to be tied to the official status, i.e., all requirements for the settlement level are met. So, technically, Trador isn't level 8 until it has fulfilled all requirements for city status. Otherwise we'd all build a bunch of residences and license ships willy-nilly!
-
Just so it is clear for all how many ship levels a settlement may operate: Hamlet = 1 Town = 2 Large Town = 4 City = 8 Large City = 16 Grand City and above capped at 20

Thanks!

[SR-FB1b] - Oct '17 - Free Traders Hall
Capt Wolf replied to Kwatchi's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Fantastic interior! The variation in the floor boards is a great touch. Excellent furniture! As for the exterior, I really like the archways and covered porch. Good use of the masonry bricks, and I really like the porch roof- 3 replies

Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Capt Wolf replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I think you have it right. Building bonuses started right away (I know some players have already used that), and "next 3 months" officially translates as "next 3 MRCAs" if that option was chosen. -
Love the ship and the name! Those 1x1 clips are just stunning for the look of it all! (But I do agree that a tiled deck would have enhanced the clip effect even more.) Great job with that cutaway view of the gun deck! And the sea monster is superb as well.

[COR - FB] East Terran Trade Company Headquarters
Capt Wolf replied to SilentWolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Great HQ! I love the angle of the first photo. As for the build, great texture on the building itself, and I like the color variation in the roof. Also, the general design of the walled property and courtyard is very good. -
Some fine figs in this set! As others have noted, the Chocolatier is great! As are the Garvey Trader and Sea Rat Occultist. I'm also fond of the Rum Runner. Well done!
-
Yep, those crate pieces are great for desks. Glad I could jog your memory! Thank you for noticing the walking stick! It's nice that the detail is appreciated. Quite true. We have been in Guilder's office before, but for a lore build that won't be licensed, I trust it is ok. Thanks! Thanks. The bust design is borrowed from somewhere, I forget where.

Very good! You've got some really interesting figures in the group. My favorite is the Oleon scribe (what torso and legs have you used?). Other favorites are the baker (much more representative of my view of Eslandola than my socialite), the hangman (who makes that hood?), and OH! that sea captain at the end! (Again, what torso and legs are those?) The musician and lady-in-waiting are also very good, and the write-ups in general are very clever! And of course I may have to use Oktoberfest Boy for next year's poster.

[Esl - FB] SHIP : The Lady Hawk
Capt Wolf replied to Tezclatipoca's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I love the old Pirate feel of this ship. Of course, given its origins, that makes sense. But still, great MOD. and I love the name and figurehead. As for the train tracks, I was first intrigued, and then once I read what you plan to do with it, I love it! -
Important reminder about ship limits and the MRCAs
Capt Wolf replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
You licensed the WTC Icarus Returning as a class 6, so you're at 12 levels. Also, it doesn't matter if the WTC Aurora is a free license or not, as the ship levels would still count against the limit. Without buying the extra levels, you can't run all three ships this MRCA. That said, if you're short the DBs, PM me and I'll loan it to you. As for changing the WTC Aurora to a free license, I'm not sure who to check with. @Legostone? @Phred?- 33 replies

Governor Guilder sat at his desk filling out paperwork. As Eslandola's Secretary of Trade, he shared responsibility with Secretary of the Navy Monezterrell on various bureaucratic duties. "So much work to do with the naval reorganization" he thought to himself. "Thank Sol and Luna that Governor Monezterrell has been on top of his duties." Guilder scratched in an extra 'en' in 'La Raya Venenosa.' "I always have trouble with that ship name" he mused. "Yes, Monezterrell has done excellent work. Now I just have to submit the paperwork to the accountants. Supporting a fully functional navy is expensive business, but the trade routes must be secure." Guilder added up his figures. "Hmmm, yes ... ok, that looks right. Now to get this off to the treasury and disbursements..." His thoughts trailed off as he concluded the task.

You tease!
-
Honestly, I've been wondering about how this works as well. @Captain Genaro, can you shed some light on this?
-
You have. You really have! Thanks. You and Ayrlego did such a good job that I really had to scramble for some of mine, such as the ESL socialite. I tried having the banker holding a book/ledger, but it didn't work. Thanks. As for not having enough distinct minifigs, maybe you and another player could collaborate to create a set of 16. One of the reasons I hurried to get mine posted. The monkey was a must from the beginning. Actually, I don't feel like my write-ups reflect my take on the BoBS factions. I scrambled for some of the fig components, then the figs just spoke to me about their character. Kinda backwards, but that's how I approached it. Thanks. I enjoyed doing the Black Sails characters Sea Rats minifigs too.

@Elostirion, I'd like to be involved in this, too. Please include me when you set up a PM. Thanks. -
Fantastic ship! And this story may be one of my favorites of yours. We want MOAR.
