  1. Should the 25DBs for the entry go to you or MAESTRO?
  2. And posting MOCs, i.e. freebuilds, and filling out the webform to report the build is a great way to get some income early on. Your first two freebuilds each month get you 10DBs each (and 5DBs each for the next two if you're really productive). I wasn't going to bombard him with trade company recruiting yet (even though we all know MCTC is the best ). My suggestion is he gets his feet wet before committing to a trade company.
  3. The KPA editors reached out to our sources in the eastern seas and can add that the pirates had two ships, a brig (class 4) and a three-masted ship that was well armed (class 5). It seems that the eastern islands, having been so recently settled, appear to be easy pickings for some enterprising sailors disillusioned with their trade luck of late. Our source reports that the merchant captain was recently deposed by the crew and has just found his way back west. It would appear that the WTC may have some upstart mutinous pirates in their backyard.
  4. I meant to vote for Sabre Island and voted for Skull Island (my second choice) by mistake!
  5. This was the issue I raised in NPC Development group. "Hostile" does not work, as it infers actual hostilities, i.e., war, to too many players, and I asked that we change it to "Very Unfriendly". The fact that it continues to raise questions confirms that it is a poor choice of words.
  6. I'm trying. It keeps crashing on me when I try to move anything to spoilers. Edit: Finally got it to work!
  7. Lively, fun build! Very colorful, with great minifig posing.
  8. I've added him to the Eslandola group PM. I thought that was to start a new PM, not be invited to one. Am I wrong on that?
  9. Well, if you engaged pirates, they're NPC pirates; otherwise I would have specified a faction and/or ship names. But beyond that, the point you raise about all the NPCs being lumped together is on me. I need to take some time to flesh out the NPCs next time around. This time we were slow getting the data generated since this was the first time with this program, so I wanted to get this out as quickly as possible. This was also my first time working on MRCA results in leadership, so a lot of the process was new to me. Now I know what to expect, and we have a list of things to improve for next time -- not just with tweaking the automation, but planning in advance to develop some NPC storylines as well. I've already got some ideas for next time! I'll also be watching the MRCA result builds for ideas. And if I didn't make it clear, your feedback is greatly appreciated! Thank you.
  10. Not microships, but vignettes similar to the builds required for increasing ship limits. Although now that you mention it ... @Bregir, can you address the question of a microship for a sistershipping required build?
  11. Ah, so you're the one. NPC ships don't have nations assigned automatically, so feel free to pick whatever works for your story. Next time, if you're going after specific NPC nations, PM me at the deadline and I'll work it into the interpretation of the results. (Or PM me now and I can make an executive decision about NPC identities for this month as more info comes into the KPA editorial offices.)
  12. Very good. The Pride of Poseidon is a good example of a class 2 ship!
  13. Yes. I had to go through several versions to work on the write-up. I'll work on getting some alternately sorted versions posted, but it won't be earlier than tomorrow. Thanks! I'm just glad my boss wasn't around this afternoon.
  14. Welcome to BoBS and Eslandola, TheCubbScout and Keenan Reid! We're glad you've taken the plunge! I like the remnants of armor on your sigfig. Eslandola still appreciates the old ways. If the Aguila is class 2 or smaller, the license is free! Each player gets one free license for a class 2 or smaller ship. Yes, you can edit your own posts. And if you have trouble, just ask.
  15. There were some very powerful pirate squadrons out there, another element that needs adjusting for next month. But, yes, I see sisterships in your future. Just remember that an "administrative" build is needed to create a sistership, to illustrate its creation in some fashion.
  16. Professor, let me know what the issue is and I'll see if the reports received by the editorial offices were in error. Ch V bonuses are included, but were not included for King's Port. You are correct that it appears as MAR on the map but as TER in the trade value list. It seems that is worth another look on leadership's part. "Defeated" ships lost initial rounds of combat but escaped or survived in some fashion. I agree the terminology is confusing. It's a product of how the automation was written. We shall clean that up next month. By my count about one in seven ships sank. That seems a bit excessive to me, but to be fair I do neither know the rules applied nor what scenarios those ships were in. Leadership agrees that the seas were excessively rough this month. We're already addressing that problem for next month. The incoming sisterships should fare better next month. No, it's just flavour text showing that you were in combat. Good material for an MRCA result build. Yes, 10 DBs for MRCA result builds (I think that's the number; that's what I remember off the top of my head). They are counted separately from free builds.
  17. King’s Port Advertiser and Ship List New Terra’s independent source for shipping news. October 617. Vol 2, Issue 4 Stormy Seas The seas are rife with activity again, but Poseidon was not kind to many on their return. We have heard word of rough seas from several ports, especially in the Cocovia Sea and the Sea of Storms. Among the losses that have reached our ears: in the Cocovia Sea, Eslandola was hit hard with the loss of warships Oscuridad and Victoria on their way to Trador, Oleon lost the Dancing Ember, and Corrington lost the Red Friar (as reported by the crew of the Dozy Dragon when she made port in New Haven). Closer to home here in Terravera, Elsandola’s MCTC merchant flagship Prince Fernando went down, as did Corrington’s ETTC ship Sparta, while trying to cross the open seas to Nova Terreli. In the Sea of Storms, Oleon lost the HMS Tiddlywinks and the Fleur Verte (the latter as reported by the crew of Little Hermes when it reached port in Breshaun). No word has reached us on the fate of their captains and crews. Pirates! Storms were not the only hazards for sailors this month. Pirate activity was once again a factor on the high seas. We have several reports of pirate attacks on shipping in the Brick Seas. From Londa the crew of The Festiva reports that The Aspiration was captured by pirates as they sailed near the Mardinas, although they also report sinking the largest of the attackers. Oleon ships were also attacked near Eltina, but The Demon Sea Turtle was on patrol and turned the tables, capturing a small armed sloop. From Nova Terreli we hear three pirates attacked Corrington’s HMS Mars, Pinto Filly, and The Defiance, but were able to escape after the HMS Mars sank two of the attacking ships. Even the Sea Rats were not safe from the pirates’ wrath. We’ve heard of two instances of pirates attacking large Sea Rat squadrons. In the first, the Sea Rats emerged victorious, capturing a brig-of-war and an armed cutter, while losing only The Walrus Returns. The crews of Sirrus, Lenore, and Peregrine were celebrating their haul when they sailed into Elizabethville. But from Stormhaven we hear that the pirates sent Sea Rat ships Tigerlily and The Harvester to the bottom and captured Wolf II. Dark Narwhal and Clearance escaped, with the crew of Clearance claiming to have sent a small sloop to its end. Navies in Action Oleon sent out several squadrons to patrol for pirates, but the Oleon reputation for naval expertise was not on display this month. In four separate engagements, pirate squadrons defeated their blue-coated counterparts, sending five ships to the bottom, capturing two, and damaging four others. Included in this naval disaster: HRS Ardent and HRS Tonnant were captured in action near Ile de Tyche, and HRS Breshaun, The Elise, and The Ranger – an entire squadron – were sent to Davy Jones’ Locker when they reportedly engaged infamous pirate Bloody Bill in the vicinity of Prinport. Anti-piracy efforts by Corrington’s WTC fared little better, if only because they didn’t lose any ships. Icarus Returning and Beacon engaged pirates near Mesabi Landing but were quickly on the defensive. With Icarus Returning damaged, the WTC squadron escaped and made their way to King’s Harbour. Return on Investment? Our agents in various Oleon ports send word that RNTC-owned ships Malto Express, Le Gros, and The Marion arrived safely at their destinations. We can only hope that this means a dividend is somewhere in the RNTC’s investors’ futures. Sea Rats get Comeuppance The Sea Rats found that not all merchant convoys are created equal. The word out of Bastion is that The Gargoyle, Vagabond King, and HMS Pendragon limped into port after a convoy they attacked turned the tables on them. Nerdy Mermaid and Hades’ Trumpet were captured by the merchants. Although HMS Pendragon reportedly sent two large vessels to their doom, the remaining ships prevailed over their Sea Rat aggressors. War? But the most interesting activity of all may be the report of two separate attacks by Sea Rat ships on Corrie shipping. Reports out of King’s Harbour say that the HMS Ironsides and Justicia narrowly escaped when attacked by Sea Rat ships Pineapple Revenge and Viper. And in more news from Bastion we hear that the Sea Rat ship Cardinal, along with Misfortune’s Revenge, attacked the Corrington ship Western Wind. The crew of the Western Wind must have put up a spirited defense, because the Sea Rats sent her to the bottom, unable to bring her in. Are the Sea Rats at war with Corrington? What will the Corries’ response be? 18. PIPs are Personal Influence Points, and they will be important and good for something ... eventually. They're supposed to eventually be used in the Adventure MRCA and other things as we get more features of the game fleshed out. For now they just collect and sit.
  19. Sure! It's mostly that I want to save the DBs for my own projects. The city of Weelond thanks you!
  20. I had planned on waiting until all entries were in before awarding the 25DBs for each entry, but there's really no reason to wait. @Professor Thaum, @Mesabi, @Spud The Viking, @dr_spock, @Ayrlego, and @Flavius Gratian, 25DBs has been transferred to your accounts for your Octoberfest entries. I'll pay future entry awards as builds are posted this week. FYI.
  21. What SilentWolf said. If you're looking for a way to maximize your monthly DB income for your builds, this won't work. But note that the freebuild reporting form is different than the licensing form. You can report the freebuild for yourself, then have the settlement license the build.
  22. Wonderful microbuild! I really like the roof detail, and the use of the microfigs. Well done!
  23. Nice facade, and I really like that grill and the view of the hot coals. The story is well done, too. I will add Mr. and Mrs. Klerk to my city census! Good entry! If you're not going to license it, would you let me license it in the name of the settlement?
